    Valve breaking commands like getpos and binds are very profound changes indeed. Those were setup back in Quake by id, and never ever has anyone at Valve modified them since ever.

      probably because source 2 might not need them anymore, it's far disconnected from the quake engine.

      @@MatthewT394 how would it not need it? Its definetly useful and you cannot replicate what you can do with binds without it. Net graph when opening console? Gone.
      Half life 2 sounds when switching weapons cuz why not? Gone
      Buy binds? Gone
      + getpos was alredy sv cheats protected, why would they remove it? It wasn't broken and worked as it should
      They broke exec's too. My config didnt work without one (not even the viewmodel) probably could be fixed, but it was such a good qol feature to be able to store multiple commands on a text file

      @@whatareyoudoingthis4 there is literally zero correlation between visual changes to GUI and a command to add bots with sv_cheats 1. One has ramifications for competitive play the other lets you add bots on custom servers. It's a bug that it's been removed.

    I'm glad you mentioned the multi-action keybinds. As a person with only one hand having my buy binds like body armour/body+head armour and other nades/weapon buys significantly helps me prepare for a round, without these binds I'm out of spawn 5 seconds late every round. I've noticed that accessibility has been going down hill a lot in recent releases and I hope this changes soon.

      Indeed. It's very unfortunate. But there's hope that Valve is preparing for better accessibility features. Sometimes you have to get rid of something to do something new so you don't end up maintaining both parts.
      The problem that the current multi action has is that each command separated by the comma was executed every tick. Given their new "subtick" system this could be a problem that they want to solve differently.

    Knowing Philip's luck with Valve, he'll spend two weeks trying to get a second keyboard working exclusively for macros going through the laundry list provided by Taran Van Hemert, then when he finally gets it working, Valve will re-enable multiple binds on one key.

    I'm assuming (hoping) that execs and multi-binds being gone is a temporary thing to force people to use the manual jump throw during the cs2 test. There are a lot of uses for both of those(!), like setting up a server, doing offline tests, changing your controls mid round, binding something conditionally to accommodate disabilities(!!), this knee-jerk reaction has had a lot of collateral damage.

      I really hope they're not doing a Valve thing and just focus on the competitive side of the game. Custom servers are still part of what makes CS CS, but it seems like they no longer care about that for some time now.

      I'm a bit mixed, I think it's good for no multiple binds for stuff like making whole things attached to just one, but stuff that doesn't have to do with the normal gameplay is lame that it hinders. But luckily, the hinderment isn't that bad, just slightly annoying, so I say it's more good than bad

    kinda angry they got rid of the ragdoll collisions, as that was something I was really looking forward to. Also hate that decals disappear automatically now

      Me too. These changes kinda killed the hype for me. I know it's a small thing but I hate seeing ragdolls clip into each other. It's not like it was even likely that players would die in the same spot and form a wall of sleeping people like in Philip's videos.

    I'm kind of surprised they got rid of multibind keys, as it only makes the challenge floor higher, and as you stated, hurts accessibility.

      for me it is annoying since I use space and mousescroll for jump. I only use the scroll when i bhop but for anything else I use spacebar, now I will have to either forget bhop or learn to awkardly use the scroll wheel jumping regurarly which sucks. But hey, it might change still a beta.

    On the topic of buying weapons for both sides, it actually still isn't letting you bind multiple actions to the same key. The buy command for any weapon on T or CT already works to buy the weapon in the same slot on the other side. So typing " buy ak47" on CT side buys whatever M4 you have equipped automatically. It's not that they made an exception for those buy binds.
    This works in CS:GO as well.

    About the "unfair advantage" thing.
    I think valve should add a toggle so that people could choose whether or not enemy's character model skins are displayed or defaults to the maps models.
    I've died sooooo many times due to not seeing enemies or getting confused by tiny pointy hats

      I agree, the player models are one of the worst things they have ever added (right behind the tagging update for me, which is my most hated) I have had deaths and even lost rounds because someones model just happens to perfectly blend into a random spot or into fading/nade smokes and its infuriating. I would turn it off instantly.

    The multiple binds to one key change screws me up so much. So many playermodels blend into blood spurts so not being able to clear decals while I walk is gonna screw me up so bad.

    Remember that it's only been a day so far since the update and we're on as beta as a beta can get.
    So don't forget to voice out any bad changes Valve makes in a reasonable manner while we're in the early phase where they're most receptive to community feedback.

      agree. we need to voice out our concerns in a respectful manner to valve. its in a way good that they made these unnecessary changes in beta imo as it does set a boundary for them in the later stage of the beta.
      btw, just hope part of the playerbase can stop acting like this isnt a 9 days old beta version of the game.

    The body stacking would have been cool to keep in.
    Might have created scenarios where line of sight is just barely off because of piled up bodies.
    Adds some extra novelty.

      yeah i mean as long as the bodies are serverside and not clientside it really shouldn’t be an issue. was really looking forward to this feature as it gives the game a better sense of realism. oh well, as long as they dont change the new blood effects ill be fine

      @@rankus Yeah. While it's very important to never let realism triumph gameplay, the sole reason so many game suck, would stacking really impact gameplay negatively and unfairly? Imagine using 3 of your stacked mates for visual cover, not like it's an unfair advantage at that point lol. My initial reaction was saying that if it really matters that much, if we don't care about realism even when it doesn't hurt, why not just despawn dead bodies? I mean if it's such a huge issue, why are they there in the first place? Them remaining kinda proves it doesn't matter much. I'd prefer stacking, more realism and satisfaction for no loss, in fact it adds rare potentials to use bodies for sick strats. Who doesn't like that?

      @@rankus seems like it would b a terrible use of packets, thats a lot of data to be constantly sending, theres a reason gmod servers are so easy to lag out. the beauty of fps netcode is that u basically just need to be sending 3 sets of coords and a few flags for each player, ur really gumming up the works when u start piping complex physics sims thru it too, especially when u got the NA isp

    I really hope Valve doesn't keep the changes to binds and commands. I've spend countless of hours perfecting my autoexec for CS:GO to the extend that I can't play without it.

    To fix that bind issue, you could try making a cfg and doing `exec `. I suspect that still works, and you may be able to bind it. I don't have CS2 to check.
    EDIT: this does not work, apparently. That should definitely be rolled back.

    I've been waiting for this video to come out. Personally, I've been using "bind mouse5 'slot2;slot1'" for a loooong time, and this has been the main reason for me to not switch to valorant or other fps games. I have a button to toggle my mwheel to be +jump or switching through my inventory. I also use the secondarycommand script that mrmaxim uses himself. After valve announces this update, there's simply no reason to continue playing this game as I'll have to get used to a whole new set of keybind. This is not some minor inconvenience, this is CATASTROPHIC. Valve pls revert

    I understand why they wanted to get rid of multi-action binds, since some of them did provide unfair advantages compared to people who just play the game as it comes, without using the console or autoexecs or anything. However, there are plenty of people with disabilities who enjoy playing the game, and who literally can't play without custom settings using these multi-bind actions. So, removing them definitely seems like a terrible idea to me. I think the best route Valve could take here is to rework the in-game settings menu so that all these multi-action binds are completely possible to create in-game, without using the console or any cfg files. That way, instead of making the game less accessible, it actually makes the game more accessible as these binds would become significantly easier to create.

      that's not "unfair advantage". They aren't forbidden from using the same commands or binds. It's like capping the fps to 60 saying higher fps provides unfair advantage to others with high refresh rate monitors.

      Mate, just add a link to valve developer community and have people educate themselves, instead of trying to dumb the game down even more.
      it's not like these commands gave you aimbot or walls. The jumpthrow is as good as it gets.
      And tbh having a higher refresh rate + higher fps is a much bigger advantage than any command would ever be

    That no multiple binds per key and no aliases literally destroys playability for some disabled people, a guy on Reddit with only 2 fingers talked about it
    For myself, almost my entire keyboard has an alternate layout accessed by aliases, primarily used for nade switching, disabling voice chat etc. That stuff is ingrained in my muscle memory, I‘ve been playing almost 1500 hours like this, wtf Valve…

    Im am quite sad they removed ragdoll collision, especialy since it being on doesnt realy have an effect on comp play.. tho at the same time this may have been exact reason. Hope they will make it a toggle in options ❤️

      Yeah, ragdoll positions are client-sided anyway, so they can't be reliably used for getting any advantage in competitive

      It could probably have an effect with stuff like bomb planting or grenade positioning. Not worth it for competitive, but it should be an optional server var.

    Breaking multi-action binds, bot_add, ragdoll collisions, automatically disappearing decals...A lot of these changes seem specifically designed to upset me. Hope Valve resolves a lot of these.

    I'm not entirely sure if I'm happy that my post was featured in my favorite CS TH-camr's video, especially considering the context in which it was presented. I fail to see how the ability to bind the actions of buying and putting out a flashbang to the same key is unfair and detrimental to other players. Also, I believe that you are greatly underestimating the potentially disastrous consequences that this proposed change could have in the long run. It is imperative that we come together and take a stand against this nonsense.

    CSGO was on of the last mainstream games that allowed you to bind multiple commands to the same key and multiple keys to the same command, but not anymore I guess.
    I really don't like the direction modern games are going with this.

      I myself only use one button bound to two commands, E to use and clear_decals
      and this change actually gets up under my skin, feels like they want to make the game for people who dont actually want to learn anything about the source engine.

    I'm gutted by the body-stacking thing. This is a big hit to my previous excitement of this game. It should be an option for each player. That way the performance guys can go full low settings (as they will anyway) and those of us that want a next-gen experience can enjoy immersive physics. Every time I see a body clip through it feels like a glitch.

    I get that for a while, cs has been implementing features to be more convenient for players to configure the game but taking commands away doesn't make sense, it's restrictive.

    one bind per key is the worst thing for me. I have a bind to equip and throw the bomb so i dont have to switch to it before dropping it. also, i have clear decals bound to all of my movement keys so that i can always have clear areas to look at

    Hey Philip! With the removing multiple binds killing a macro in game, would you be able to run an "EXEC" script from a bind to target a warmup script? (In CS2 that is!)

      Technically, since it's one command ("whatever.cfg") that cascades into several commands (instead of triggering multiple actions at the same time), it could work. That's how the config file and the autoexec.cfg works, if that's the same system used in CS2.
      It could also be possible to (somewhat) bypass that restriction by making a press/release alias (+something / -something) with only one command bound to each, therefore having 2 commands bound to one keypress (technically one command when pushing down, and one command when releasing the key)

      According to /r/globaloffensive the last update also restricted the ability to run the "exec" command during any game (even offline or warmup).

      This is a really interesting question since you can literally make unlimited cfg files in the folder, I personally have cfgs to change the graphics between a custom low setting that includes turning off texture filtering, reflections, ragdolls, etc (run sd) and a more cinematic option (run hd) and that leads to a bigger question, if we create a script for nades.cfg can we just "bind 7 run nades"???

    I've never understood people's hate for macros. They're more a convenience feature than a cheat, and I have a really hard time imagining the small advantage they give amounting to a whole lot in practice.

    My guess for the commands is that it's just a bulk fix because they didn't have time to allocate to specifying which commands would and would not get disabled by sv_cheats besides probably some defaults they already had in place

    A workaround for the binds could be creating a cfg file that runs every command you want. Then you create an overall bind from your desired key to execute that cfg file.
    I’m 76.3% sure this will work, but i might be missing something 😅

    I wish the radio voice commands could be revamped, it has been a part of my muscle memory in all cs titles as a necessity back in my childhood as i have been playing on potato laptops without a mic. You can be surprised how much it can help when playing with others with a common language, or even casual/community servers full of chaos that can somehow corral them back in once moment-to-moment gameplay thrill kicks in and everyone now plays to win. In a perfect world I wish they could increase the voice lines for all characters, paid or not, as some has been lacking/unusable in a bind/radiopanel config when it was still possible (e.g. Most female agents lack Bombsite A/B voice lines except FBI Agent Ava).
    It remained clunky as i have to substitute from the syntax of the voice commands from those available only from the scroll wheel, from those that can be easily placed in a radiopanel file so I could organize them better. I cannot count how may times I’ve saved someone froom peeking an AWP with a simple ping command, and use of the voice line “Sniper!”.

    For the one key bind problem, a possible solution is that you use an alias chain where you would still have to press it multiple times but it would still be on a single key. Or perhaps using the wait command to quickly cycle through them

    Perhaps valve should add a "buy preferred loadout" option where you can save a number of loadouts out-of-game using a standardised UI that players can then either press the loadout's according key or access a new in-game UI to automatically buy all the relevant items starting from the cheapest. That way it solves the multi-bind problem while also lowering the knowledge floor required for CS.

      And then people who still want it as a macro will just create a macro in their keyboard software....

    One action per key messes me up big time. I use my number keys for different loadouts depending on our current economy, I press 8 for example and it buys full armor, nades, an AWP, and a Deagle. All with one button press, not a big deal I suppose but it'll take some time to get used to using the buy wheel again since I've been doing my regular buys like this for years.

    I think the multi-keybind change will lead you to innovate even better solutions to use for your videos, the previous method worked so you didn't need to think outside the box, but now it could end up rewarding and perhaps lead to even better videos as a result.     I have F7 and F8 to 15 binds eache just like you said, kick bots, set freeeze time, restart, granades, timers etc

    Disabling the ragdoll collisions has got to be the weirdest change. This seems like a very clear example of "This just looks better, makes sense and at worst might actually cause an interesting new vision situation". Now we're back to boring and buggy looking clipping, yikes.

    sad to see they want to remove any and all customization in this game through anything but items. seems like i used to be able to do literally anything in a valve game (custom huds, textures, models, etc), but playing counter strike in recent years has shown me how little valve seems to want their games to be modded.

    for binds and aliases, especially ones that you may have for offline gameplay settings like for practice settings, although i personally don't have CS2, you may be able to bind a key to exec a config that does all of those commands, circumventing the "1 bind per key" rule, at the cost of needing to make several cfg files
