Media evolution is divided into four different ages -- the Pre-Industrial Age which happened before the 1700s, the Industrial Age which happened from the 1700s to the 1930s, the Electronic Age which happened from the 1930s to the 1980s, and the Information Age which started from the 1990s to 2000s.
