  • The ability to rise above the din and make our message known to hundreds, thousands, or even millions of people is a big deal. Over the centuries, the power of mass media has grown and its different forms shape the news, change our cultural ideas, and even form our identities. In this episode, we discuss Mass Media, the ways it has evolved over time and its impact not only on how we communicate messages to large audiences but society as a whole.

I'm in a communication-related major, and this series plus the rhetoric one has been so helpful for me. Thank you, StudyHall!

Thank you for posting this before the class starts! I’m so excited for it. As a freelancer, I love creating but have a hard time communicating effectively with clients. This intro to communications course is an affordable game changer for me!!

Great lesson thank you for your dedication.
On a side note, I disagree that today there are more checks before posting a story than in the past, unfortunately many times news don't even pass the 2 source basic check. If you add that up to the "agenda" that REUTERS, AP, or any of the "REAL" news agencies have, the influence the main editor might have, the line the advertisers need, etc... It's getting harder and harder to get simple fact and science based information. We have to train people into scientific critical thought, and by this I don't mean one should think he knows more than a doctor and criticize everything, but if there is a study, go check who sponsored it and make the effort to investigate the connections. There is propaganda everywhere, learn to see what they are feeding you (the flavour of the month). Good luck.
