21:00 well, "buried" could easily mean just in a mass grave, like any crucifixion victim, as Paulogia has been saying on his channel, and if so, then Paul doesn't mention the tomb, empty or not.
However, I don't mean to nitpick, this is very interesting as usual, and a nice little addition to the death and resurrection series that Dr Tabor has been doing on his channel.

For the life of me I do not understand why people give Paul the benefit of the doubt -- on anything. I legitimately get the impression that you have to grow up in the church being indoctrinated about how great Paul is for him to seem like anything but a liar, a hypocrite, a pro-Roman sycophant, and an egomaniac. But most importantly, to think that torah-adherent messianic Jews like James the Just would share ANYTHING in common with Paul is silly on its face.

Greetings from Ireland. Brought up as a Catholic and atheist for most of my life, what amazes me is how this type of discussion never takes place between believers even nowadays. My mother was a devout Catholic but she - like the majority of Catholics - never even opened the bible to read and think about what it said. She just accepted the priests readings at mass. So thank you History Valley and Dr Tabor for another fascinating discussion.

      The Gospel of Barnabas,
      Chapter 215:
When the soldiers with Judas drew near to the place where Jesus was, Jesus heard the approach of many people, wherefore in fear he withdrew into the house. And the eleven were sleeping.
Then God, seeing the danger of his servant, commanded Gabriel, Michael, Rafael, and Uriel, his ministers, to take Jesus out of the world.
The holy angels came and took Jesus out by the window that looketh toward the South. They bare him and placed him in the third heaven in the company of angels blessing God for evermore.
      Chapter 216
Judas entered impetuously before all into the chamber whence Jesus had been taken up. And the disciples were sleeping. Whereupon the wonderful God acted wonderfully, insomuch that Judas was so changed in speech and in face to be like Jesus that we believed him to be Jesus. And he, having awakened us, was seeking where the Master was. Whereupon we marvelled, and answered: 'Thou, Lord, art our master; hast thou now forgotten us?'
And he, smiling, said: 'Now are ye foolish, that know not me to be Judas Iscariot!'
And as he was saying this the soldiery entered, and laid their hands upon Judas, because he was in every way like to Jesus.
We having heard Judas' saying, and seeing the multitude of soldiers, fled as beside ourselves.
And John, who was wrapped in a linen cloth, awoke and fled, and when a soldier seized him by the linen cloth he left the linen cloth and fled naked. For God heard the prayer of Jesus, and saved the eleven from evil. sacred-texts.com/isl/gbar/gbar215.htm

God sent down The Holy Scripture and prophets to deliver his message of theaching monotheism. And God did not create religions (Christianity, Islam, Hinduism etc.) but man did. What is commanded is to only serve God of Abraham , God of Israel/jacob god The creator and do good, to live in harmony with humans and the environment. Therefore, God says (Quran 2:62) which means that he (God) does not really care about the religion of man as long as they Only serve the one true God and later we will face him on the day of judgement and we will be questioned responsible for our actions. Verily, those who believe, the Jews, the Christians and the Sabians, whoever (among them) believes in God and the Last Day, and does good deeds, they will have their reward from their Lord. there is no fear in them, and they do not grieve.(Al-Quran 2:62)

There is a correlation of dimensions that applies here.
As mammals which don’t have wings or gills move basically in 2 dimensions, it is hard to understand and relate to beings which move in 3 dimensions all their lives.
    They are all MATERIAL beings.

This detail about the gospel of Peter is very interesting. It sounds as if Peter originally had a report similar to the later ending of John, with the fishing miracle by which they recognized Jesus. And that reminds me of a theory I once heard that the fishing miracle scene in Luke (5) originall also was a post-resurrection scene. This makes a lot of sense, because why would Peter react this odd way ("Depart from me, Lord! For I am a sinful man!") just because he had slightly doubted Jesus' power at a moment he didn't even know him yet? It makes much more sense to think that this reaction was due to him having denied Jesus at his trial. Only when the later legendary accounts of sightings of the resurrected Jesus in Jerusalem were added to the text, this passage was moved to a different place.
All in all, it seems that the oldest account of the risen Jesus appearing to his disciples was while fishing in the Galilee. They had given up all messianic hope and had returned to their old place of life and work, when an unexpected experience (of whatever nature) convinced them that Jesus was still alive.

7 disciples fishing. Judas introduce the Lord to them. They did not recognize him.

Tabor poses two possibilities for Resurrection:
    - View 1: Corpse gets up from the grave, in the manner of Lazarus, and walks around, eats, drinks, mixes with his people just like before dying.
    - View 2: 'Resurrection is the transformation' from the "flesh" to the "immortal." This is resurrection for Paul. Immortal, glorious and powerful... apotheosis. The dead will be 'pneuma,' a new kind of body.
Luke posses the dilemma this way:
    - A woman with 7 husbands, all of whom kept dying, in the afterlife, whose wife will she be? Jesus replies, "God is the God of the living." Angels don't marry or die.
Of course, the answer is simpler than ALL that. These possibilities ought to remind us of the Medieval arguments about 'how many angels can dance on the head of a pin?' The plain fact is that, 'resurrection' is not possible.
Historicity demands that we keep it real. Thus, Acts 9.4 is either a hallucination or a lie. If it is a lie, it comes from 'the liar' of the Dead Sea Scrolls.
The point we should really be asking is this: Why is the Acts lying at 9.4? What possibly could be the motive? Sure, the Christ is being transformed into a Greco-Roman sky god. But is there another reason?

    • @shawncoleman8530
      @shawncoleman8530 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

The trinity concept is a carry over from the Egyptian religion. The people writing didn't live in a vacuum and just like today there were many conflicting perspectives on life/death and what happens after; along with what it all means. In some ways we are much worse off today because we don't have any exposure to the counter arguments and perspectives.

There is zero evidence for that. But it's not impossible, of course. It's certainly fair to ask that if Paul "saw" Jesus in some kind of resurrected body, yet had never laid eyes on him during his actual life, how the hell did he know that he was seeing Jesus? Now of course, people have been seeing Jesus and the virgin Mary for two thousand years yet none of these people know what the hell Jesus or Mary actually looked like. People probably see the image of Mary and Jesus that are in movies and artwork. The Jesus that looks like he belongs on the cover of a romance novel. But Paul would have had no image of Jesus to base any "appearance" on, so it's an interesting question.

    Mat 28:2
    - an earthquake came
    - a angel descended from heaven, rolled the tomb seal and was sitting on the seal stone.
But nowhere does it say the angel restored jesus body and Jesus walked out.
Amd the amgel became very bright and scared the guards away, remember the Mary's are there waiting, they see an angel come down, the tomb opens, the guards run away, they are infirmed he is risen and on his way to galilee. It does not say anywhere the angel went into the cave, waved a magic wand over Jesus, he stood up and began walking down the road to the galilee.
"He is risen, come see the place that he lied"
"He goes before you in galilee
So what we take from Matthew 27 is that Jesus died and gave up his spirit, now angels came to announce the body is converted to something invisible, and then
The women are running back to town to get Peter and they find Jesus walking some more to galilee now with feet.
So spirit goes up, body disappears, body and spirit reappear somewhere else.

The other Apostles are not Paul's "opponents". They are brothers in Christ and they loved each other.
The Gospels as well as Paul's letters are reliable and in agreement with each other. There is no disagreement or conflict. Dr. Tabor may think they conflict, but I don't see it that way. I think if that is what he believes that he is mistaken. We are speaking of spiritual things which none of us really understands, as far as resurrected bodies and how God made them. We just don't know.
Jesus says in John 20:17 not to touch him because he has not yet ascended to His Father. Why? We can only speculate. But, doesn't His glorified body have the crucifixion marks, the wholes in his hands and feet and the thorn mark on His head? The scripture says he ate some fish with Peter after He was resurrected. Can a glorified body do that or is there a stage or stages of the resurrected body being transformed into the eternal one? I don't know.
I don't see "two" different ideas of the resurrection, the Gospels and what Paul says. What I see is humans not understanding how God has made all of this and the processes He has made to accomplish being raised from the dead and transformed into an indestructible body. But, hey, knock yourself out in coming up with ideas that conflict with what God has created.
I suspect that the Father and Jesus are amused as us earthlings. :) Trying to poke holes in the Gospels and Paul's writings and thinking you have found some credible discrepancies. Yeah, right.
Isn't the truth that you don't believe any of it? Isn't that the bottom line?

I don’t think that is an honest account of supposed differences between Jesus’s resurrection body in the gospels vs. Paul’s account. In the gospels Jesus can appear and disappear at will. He can also show is wounds and eat if he chooses. It is not true to say it was just a flesh and blood body. Paul specifically says that we will have a glorious body like Jesus’s.

It does not matter, not one Whit whether somebody takes the time to describe what Christ look like in the vision. Just because somebody didn't describe it the way this man on this video thinks that they should have, does not displace the reality of it. I'm not a big fan of Paul. But this man on this video has an unrealistic expectation that everybody should do things the way he expects of them, lest they be suspect not only is that an unreasonable expectation, that's Ludacris in the extreme. I do like his year of 30 ad for the crucifixion of Christ. That is exactly the year he would have turned 34 about 10 days to two weeks before his actual birthdate in 4 BC.
Call does go out of his way to explain why he can't describe what he saw. He wouldn't have a clue whether or not the body appeared to be corporeal or not. As long as it was a physical body, it should have appeared to him to have been a corporeal body. He is over explaining, which leads me to believe that maybe he hasn't quite learned, as yet, how to say a simple truth. It is other problem may have been that having never seen Christ, maybe he never actually knew what he looked like.

What does it matter what everybody believes about the resurrection. If you have doubts then you are not a true believer period. We are commanded to just get on utube and bring up things that do not profit anyone. You mock and can't doubt and it "divides" people. Most people have little to no spiritual understanding and most people will never come to God by faith. Believers don't have to have proof or evidence like the world does because believers are miracles of God's grace, a super natural result of a person coming to God by humbly submitted to hom and by simple faith or born into the kingdom of God. Followers are to preach and witness to a lost and dying world not bringing unbelievers in to allow them what they think. You cannot ever convince 0eople to trust Christ because that is the work of his Holy Spirit. Salvation is all of God and we are just instruments of his will and ways to bring people to Him. All you are doing us making some people supporting their unbelief and others seemingly getting something out of all the conversations.

Note: There's no book in the Bible called "James". What everybody in the English World know as the "Book of James", in reality is the Book of Jacob!!!! Historic Background: In 1604 King James 1 of England authorized a translation of the Bible. (What we know today as the "King James" Bible). It seems that out of vanity, he wanted his name to appear in the title of one of the books of the Bible, and today the Book of Jacob is known as "The Book of James". The other translations followed the tradition, and also called the Book of Jacob, "Book of James"; however there are a few versions that translate correctly, the name. ( The name "James" has no hebrew origin.)

Dying and resurrecting GODMAN Story. Nothing new.
But what's interesting is that LORD GOD MOST HIGH is a God who accepts VIRGIN CHILD SACRIFICE, who gives victory for a VIRGIN CHILD SACRIFICE.
    Judges 11:29-40
[29]Then the Spirit of the LORD came upon Jephthah, and he passed over Gilead, and Manasseh, and passed over Mizpeh of Gilead, and from Mizpeh of Gilead he passed over unto the children of Ammon.
[30]And Jephthah vowed a vow unto the LORD, and said, If thou shalt without fail deliver the children of Ammon into mine hands,
[31]Then it shall be, that whatsoever cometh forth of the doors of my house to meet me, when I return in peace from the children of Ammon, shall surely be the LORD'S, and I will offer it up for a burnt offering.
[32]So Jephthah passed over unto the children of Ammon to fight against them; and the LORD delivered them into his hands.
[33]And he smote them from Aroer, even till thou come to Minnith, even twenty cities, and unto the plain of the vineyards, with a very great slaughter. Thus the children of Ammon were subdued before the children of Israel.
[34]And Jephthah came to Mizpeh unto his house, and, behold, his daughter came out to meet him with timbrels and with dances: and she was his only child; beside her he had neither son nor daughter.
[35]And it came to pass, when he saw her, that he rent his clothes, and said, Alas, my daughter! thou hast brought me very low, and thou art one of them that trouble me: for I have opened my mouth unto the LORD, and I cannot go back.
[36]And she said unto him, My father, if thou hast opened thy mouth unto the LORD, do to me according to that which hath proceeded out of thy mouth; forasmuch as the LORD hath taken vengeance for thee of thine enemies, even of the children of Ammon.
[37]And she said unto her father, Let this thing be done for me: let me alone two months, that I may go up and down upon the mountains, and bewail my virginity, I and my fellows.
[38]And he said, Go. And he sent her away for two months: and she went with her companions, and bewailed her virginity upon the mountains.
[39]And it came to pass at the end of two months, that she returned unto her father, who did with her according to his vow which he had vowed: and she knew no man. And it was a custom in Israel,
[40]That the daughters of Israel went yearly to lament the daughter of Jephthah the Gileadite four days in a year.

[9]And it shall be for a sign unto thee upon thine hand, and for a memorial between thine eyes, that the LORD'S law may be in thy mouth: for with a strong hand hath the LORD brought thee out of Egypt.
[10]Thou shalt therefore keep this ordinance in his season from year to year.
[11]And it shall be when the LORD shall bring thee into the land of the Canaanites, as he sware unto thee and to thy fathers, and shall give it thee,
[12]That thou shalt set apart unto the LORD all that openeth the matrix, and every firstling that cometh of a beast which thou hast; the males shall be the LORD'S.
[13]And every firstling of an ass thou shalt redeem with a lamb; and if thou wilt not redeem it, then thou shalt break his neck: and all the firstborn of man among thy children shalt thou redeem.
[14]And it shall be when thy son asketh thee in time to come, saying, What is this? that thou shalt say unto him, By strength of hand the LORD brought us out from Egypt, from the house of bondage:
[15]And it came to pass, when Pharaoh would hardly let us go, that the LORD slew all the firstborn in the land of Egypt, both the firstborn of man, and the firstborn of beast: therefore I sacrifice to the LORD all that openeth the matrix, being males; but all the firstborn of my children I redeem.
    John 6:53-54
[53]Then Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Except ye eat the flesh of the Son of man, and drink his blood, ye have no life in you.
[54]Whoso eateth my flesh, and drinketh my blood, hath eternal life; and I will raise him up at the last day.

According to the general consensus of scholarship *(even critical Christian scholars),* YHWH was originally incorporated into the Canaanite pantheon as a son of the Canaanite high god El before inheriting the top spot in the pantheon and El's wife Athirat (Asherah) before religious reforms "divorced" them. If you want to see if El is fictional, just read his mythology in the Ugaritic/Canaanite texts. His pantheon in Ugarit is called the *Elohim,* literally the plural of El. Interestingly, the Biblical god is also referred to numerous times as Elohim.
"When El was young, he came across two beautiful Goddesses washing their clothes in the Sea. They were Athirat (Asherah) and the Goddess Rahmaya, and, after buttering them up by cooking a meal for them, he asked them to choose between being his daughters or wives. They choose the latter and became the mothers of the Gods Shachar "Dawn" and Shalim "Dusk"."
*"First, a god named El predates the arrival of the Israelites into Syria-Palestine.* Biblical usage shows El was not just a generic noun, but often a proper name for Israel’s God (e.g., Gen 33:20: “El, the God of Israel”)."
"I should add here that it is very clear from the grammar that the noun nachalah in v. 9 should be translated “inheritance.” *Yahweh receives Israel as his “inheritance” (nachalah), just as the other sons of El received their nations as their inheritance (nachal, v. 8).* With this verb, especially in the Hiphil, the object is always what is being given as an inheritance. Thus, Israel is given to Yahweh as his inheritance. ((Here I’m indebted to Dan McClellan.)) It would make no sense for Elyon to give himself an inheritance. Moreover, as I’ve argued elsewhere, it is not just the Gentile nations that are divided up according to the number of the sons of El. It is all of humankind, i.e., “the sons of Adam.” This clearly includes Israel. And the sons of Adam are not divided up according to the number of the sons of El, plus one (i.e., plus Elyon). They are divided up, according to the text, solely according to the number of the sons of El. *Thus, that Yahweh receives Israel as his inheritance makes Yahweh one of the sons of El mentioned in v. 8. Any other construal of the text would constitute its rewriting."*

What if you meet Allah or Vishnu? Then youre toasted buddy. Hows that for exiting the matrix? also why would "his maker" be angry at Tabor's honesty and critical thinking, and especially sincenitd always with love and respect for biblical traditions which he clearly has? What an infantile petty god you imagine you serve.

And the father welcoming Tabors spirit. Tabor has a point, its about the spirit, not the body.

That's like saying oh Tabor ignore all the research and evidence of the NT itself and just believe the Church's version of what they said about the NT.
You want him to ignore everything they have studied from the NT in the actual Greek?
That's your choice but why do you want others to just ignore evidence and hold on to other people's imagination just because you want it to actual be true?

James the Just, the actual brother of Jesus (Jesus, whom Paul never met; except "spiritually", as he claimed.
