- August 1-4, 2004 - In what's called "Operation Sykes Hammer", U.S. Soldiers with the Iraqi National Guard conduct joint patrols throughout the city of Tal Afar, Iraq in response to suspected anti-Iraqi forces that may have crossed the border from Syria and hid within the city. Scenes include performing weapon and insurgent searches, seizures, and detainments along with interacting with local residents including children. Some of the searches include working dogs and air support.

I was there for a year when these guys came rolling up to relieve my unit. I have never been so happy to see a group of guys in my life.
We had very little problems from Tel-Afar. But we kept a tight grip on the city from day 1. Crazy time of my life. Was just 19. B 3/320 FA 101st Airborne Rakkasan!
3rd Brigade, 1/23IN Recon. We were in the area for a few hours earlier before the main unit rolled in. Then we moved on the north side of the city outskirts.

you yanks love to get yourself into tough situations and then die there.. Soviet military instructors did good job there teaching Vietnamese how to defend their country. but the latter are themselves great fighters very tenacious. Good you had to retreat from there.

Yeah, I worked with US army , the only time we got hit was by mortars in the joint check points near karhtapah in diyala province actually we got hit three times one of m was the night when both the old platoon and the new platoon were together and the insurgents did that attack as a challenge to our platoon the mortars platoon

It would be another month before I'd show up,,,, I was up in Mosal with DEUCE FOUR 25th ID, but we did ops everywhere. Before this I pulled a tour in Afghanistan on my 1st enlistment,,,, injad gotten out July of 2002, Iraq popped off and I re-enlisted strictly Iraq bound. I got what I wanted 2 year sign up guaranteed trip to iraq,,,, I still feel that place in my bones and there isnt a night I sleep where this fucking place isn't in my dreams

they were transitioning to the United States. they moved into Fort Carson while the 3d ACR was over there. they caused a lot of problems in Colorado Springs. my skiers use to go to a couple bars out side fort Carson and they were always welcome. when we came back from deployment my soldiers were not as welcomed as before.
