Nigeria’s goalie really held her own though!
She kept nigeria in the game!!
Same w Portugal's. This was really good exp for us to see such defensive minded teams so close to the Olympics. I think a lot of teams are gonna be hanging back and looking to counter us, if we can clean up our passes in the final third and play w patience this is our tourney.

Once you start watching USWNT it doesn't take long to understand why they are the best. USWNT fundamentals, Ball Control, Passing, Finishing, teamwork are Top Tier. USWNT is truly fun to watch. I applaud the Nigeria Keeper. She is the reason they stayed in the game.

I was there and it was so much fun! They had really good carne asada tacos.
Press's reading of the defense has sharpened considerably. She doesn't try to dribble thru the defense anymore, instead she knocks it right in thru the opening, catching the goalie off guard, and w her non favorite left foot. Wow!!!!

Congratulations to USA but Mewis should have seen a red card for her intentional and condemnable stamping on Oluehi, the Nigerian goal keeper. It really affected her although she managed to shake it off to come up with some nice saves. That part was never mentioned in this highlight. It is always good to include such events in the highlight for others to see what one can do to a fellow player.
Women's pro soccer in the US has a history of being more reckless with fouls, more needlessly aggressive, retaliate more often, and get away with it. Referees don't hold them to the same standards as they hold the men, but I guess that's equality.

Not only was our defense not good except the keeper but our attack was poor...
This group has had a long run and has done fantastic; but at some point they will need replacements. And as much as I see rotation of new faces in the women team; I don’t see any of those new faces taking a more permanent role over the perennial starters. Either the world class quality is not there, or there is no confidence in the newer generation. It can and likely will take its toll at some point
