Yeah, the newer cars are faster, with more tech, probably more reliable, bla bla, but don't have that soul at all or the "aura" that the classics have. I really like new cars but the classics are more "real", more engaging to drive, you, the car and the road. More "the experience".
NZ has such a rich history of custom building cars, we're currently one of the few countries that have been able to build a 250 GTO off the original blueprints. Thank you so much for covering such a rare gem in our little automotive world! I hope you can find the time to come over to visit us in NZ sometime, there's honestly hundreds of workshops around the country doing phenomenal work just like this car!
@@heartobefelt The workshop that did the work was given the blueprints by Ferrari themselves. The replicas are a bit more of a grey market thing so I can't speak for them but I met the Tempero's only a month or two ago and they were very nice and an incredibly respectful family. I would estimate that Ferrari would be flattered that someone would go to all the work they have to build something like the car in this video but you can just never tell with how litigious Ferrari can be.
This is one my favorite racecars of all time. Even though it is awesome that they took 1-2-3 at Daytona, they lost again to the blue oval at Le Mans that same year. In my personal opinion the MKIV was the epitome of Ford's prototype racecars. It does not get enough love.
almost all Le Mans racers are RH Drive because Le Mans is a clockwise turning circuit, so regardless of it's Italian or French or German or indeed American, they are built RH drive so that the driver exits the car on the pit side, not the track side
@@NextGenClassics great stuff, would be awesome to grab a coffee with you and do some Ferrari hooning if you have time!! I use Lewis Rd double cream in my coffee every day!! Thats three good things about New Zealand now!!
Of course it's more fun. U can ring it out. It's pricey & gorgeous but if it gets bent, it's a copy. No history, no pedigree, just fabulous tribute to my favorite Ferrari RACE car. Can U say...apples & oranges?
I love these cars! It's a thing of beauty and I could easily put it in my living room to just look at. 😍 Wonder how much a replica would cost to build 🤔 Those guys in N.Z. Know their stuff!
About 10 years ago I worked with a guy who had one of these replicas and it had a v6 Alfa Romeo engine. I got to ride in it at a track event and that was an amazing experience.
I’m enjoying the much improved production value - well done! You may’ve said, or maybe there was a sign within the b-roll, but I missed it… which track was this filmed at?
I think that classic cars are better than modern cars in several ways. Modern cars are so computerized that you wonder are you driving the car or is it driving you? For most of us we will never be able to have an authentic Countach, GTO, or Shelby Cobra so the replica market becomes attractive and useful. If that replica is very close to the original and you can match an engine and transmission that are close in output to the factory car they can be about as fun to drive.
Ferrari as a company in general and the old man Enzo Ferrari are known for being doushbags so i am surprised that you arent attacked by an army of lawyers that demands that the car is destroyed. the guys working for Lamborghini though are good people.
What is Ferrari- the company- is thinking about this car? I wonder because the original builders can sometimes react very strange. Even letting it destroy by a court- decision.
Just a quick correction or reminder. ZF gearbox or transmission is pronounced “zed-eff”, even in the states. Never pronounce ZF gearbox as “zee-eff”. I love what you do and wish you all the success in future.
@@NextGenClassics I hate what women are doing to their bodies. Nothing sadder than an old woman with sagging skin and faded and bleeding tats. No dignity in that.
I keep seeing Ferrari replicas with Ferrari emblazoned all over them. I would trade my daughters’ organs for this car but nothing would persuade me to pass it off as an actual Ferrari. “Hey nice car is that a Ferrari?” “Well err sort of - no, actually it’s not a real one. It’s based on one… oh no, it’s not a Fiero… oh jeez, how long have you got…?” Plus it’s just a creepy appearing to pretend you own something you don’t - and yes (money no object) I would absolutely prefer a good replica over an original but that’s no reason to put a badge it hasn’t earned anywhere near it.
Next time you make a video like this, spend 4 or 5 minutes hooning it around the track. I don't need 8 minutes of curbside car porn. That's a waste of time. Unless you can't drive for shit. Then... Great video!

Yes!! Spread the love for classics!
Nobody will drive a $50 million original car they are to be looked at not driven what a shame so this soul you speak of is more of a ghost.
But this replica makes it attainable
Yes but my car is 0,2sec faster on the 1/4 mile, so it's better 🤡
A friend of mine builds them in the UK using original 330 engines with the correct 90 degree inlet trumpets etc.

Really Enjoyed the video. Your knowledge of these cars is impressive. Car looks terrific!
Easily could talk about these cars for hours!
Any car you can drive hard is more fun than a museum piece. But I’d rather have the P4’s little sister, the Dino 206 SP.
We all have our favorites. I’ve always had a love for the 250 SWB.

There are many brilliant engineers in New Zealand.
A very talented country in many respects.
I'm the owner of a Superformance GT40. I'm impressed by this build.

Excellent video and delighted to add more history of these fabulous Italian cars. I love the meanings of model house names. Greetings from Spain.

Hallo! Thank you!
The last reason I would buy this car would be to go to Cars& Coffee.
The P4s weighed 972-984 kg, which come to 2143-2169 lbs -- a bit more than the 1750 claimed in the video.

The original has a value of around $50 million. Curious about the value on a replica (or tribute by your definition) such as this.

It's a disservice to call this handmade high attention to detail build a replica they should be called a continuance.
One would need Ferrari to sign off on calling it a continuance
what is the purpose of the hidious squares on the back next to the exhaust?
Simply to annoy you.
The P4 is so beautiful, it makes many modern hypercars look like ugly, popped blisters
It is better screwed together? It will complete a 20 mile journey? It wasn't made by Ferrari or Fiat?
What is Ferrari- the company- is thinking about this car? I wonder because the original builders can sometimes react very strange. Even letting it destroy by a court- decision.
How much does it cost? It would be so much fun to own and drive. What if you turbo'd that thing?
USD$400K
Good value for what it is.
