I'm really interested to see you progress this plant Jason. You had me laughing out loud twice in this video. Firstly the 'Jason Hanrahan' zoomed in edit then the spit out. Brilliant work, but I must admit I probably laughed even more at the 'damned privet' comment. Not sure why but that cracked me up! 🤣🤣🤣
I also picked up your use of “lovely” when you described them - an issue that I dealt with in my previous bonsai pot unboxing video. Wait until you see the intro to part 2 😂😂😂😂😂
But there is so much bending, misunderstanding, not being aware of, or ignoring the rules 😝 More about that in my next video, part two. It’s all just a bit of fun 😀
Fantastic start Jason - i spat my coffee on the screen! Glad to see you are an honest Northerner - are you far enough north to be called that. Tia Maria is a bit of a posh girly drink though...
Thanks Xavier. I liked the idea of the matcha green tea Tia Maria, though ooop north it’s hard to find in the supermarkets except Sainsbury’s. Though as an honest (and tight) northerner it wasn’t the real drink I spat out. Obviously 🙄
You mean the round wire shelf? This was from Amazon for about £30 GBP. There are variants with wooden shelves, or solid metal but I opted for one with wire mesh shelves to allow me to tie smaller pots to it to avoid them blowing over, and avoid wood rotting from soaking up water.
@@TheBonsaiGarden yes that one, thank you for the tip of wire bottom I shall be ordering one today I need one so I can place my five pots on it and clear up my space
Thanks Jay. I’m not sure what makes it a “Star Wars” tree… I fear it’s just a gimmick to make people (like us) part with their cash. I imagine I would have to set up some diorama featuring Ewoks, or worse, Jar Jar Binks!!! If you can find one I look forward to seeing what you do with it 😁😂😂😂
For those not from this part of the world there is a long running rivalry between the English counties of Yorkshire and Lancashire dating back to The War of the Roses. Naturally Yorkshire won. 😁 * For references to “lovely” see my previous bonsai bench tour videos and especially the bonsai pot unboxing video.
More about the pot in the follow up. It very much depends on the interpretation of whether $50 (ie, £42) or £50 as I have an ideal pot already but it cost £32.
@@TheBonsaiGarden dont do the challange if it is to stressfull no need to do a tony and set all rules aside 50$ is 50$ and like 10 ppl did it allready from one shop, or make your own challange no need to trash a good idear
There is quite a bit of trimming to do on this one. It will end up at least a third of the current size. The black and white cat follows me around usually demanding that I feed her handfuls of koi food.
Why would you make that 2 parts? .... on TikTok I'd understand, because they rank you higher if ppl watch your videos to the end. But that doesn't apply for this platform. ..... I don't see the point. It's rather annoying and creates a slight negative feeling. BTW.: Nice choice. I'd have gone for that too. And pot wise, I might have a hint: In some pottery stores you can get a butter dish without handles, that can easily be turned into bonsai pots with a drill. Under 10€.
Sorry you found the split annoying. I did it because I don’t have time to do the whole thing in one sitting - I have a day job to do and a life to live outside TH-cam. It logically falls into two convenient parts : finding the material, then working on it which fits better with my schedule and other commitments. Part two is likely to be maybe 30-40 minutes in total with styling, pruning, wiring and repotting, or several hours of filming and editing. Pot wise I already have something in mind. Depends whether I go with the strict $50 interpretation, or the slightly more generous £50 GBP.

I’m in Wakefield, so far enough north to give some people a nose bleed. 😁
Where did you get that back wall plant circle stand?

Loved the intro. Subscribed!
Thank you and thanks for the support. 🙏

Oscar gold… 😂😂😂
Off to a great start! But how could you not buy a Star Wars tree?!?! And why are there no Star Wars trees here? I’ve got to look into this further… 🐦💙

@@andersnrregren9087 who said it is stressful? I am simply anticipating the issues and questions over whether it’s £50 or $50.
It was also about fun.
Wowser! Can’t wait to see it in a pot!! My cats help me prune. Do yours nibble on the leaves/branches while you’re working?
