I have one, its very black, the original finish looked like it was a shiny type black, decals removed, inside it seems to be SE 66 are the markings and a number #076, I always thought it might have been an SS dress helmet, I think its an M35
I have a M42 and I can pick out a number on the skirt of the helmet (I can only recognize like 2 numbers) but I cannot find a lot number by the chinstrap bale. Is the shell fake?

I went to take my helmet off and using my bloody finger and hand, I managed to get a good amount of blood on the liner because of the way I was carrying it. The pig skin liner is very porous and the blood soaked right in.

I have one. Double decal SS. Its for sale...it’s in much better condition than these two you show in the video. Liner is good. Not quite as good as the liner in your example. Strap is present.

That is a good price, but i once bought an original M42 with the original liner from Estonia only for 110€ and he was selling some other helmets for cheap prices
Perhaps these helmets were used after the war by the local 'polizei' units, and ... the Nazi marks were ... obsolete, so ... they 'deleted' those marks ... Anyway...impressive the condition/state of these WW2 relics ! You just proved you are not just a...simple MD guy... ;-)
I don't beleive in original SS anymore . Most of them are destroyed, in collections or museums already. Ye a few still exist for sale but it is very very hard to find and expensive . 30 years ago SS equipements were very rare already... Now 85% of the SS equipements for sale are false... I hope for u that ur SS equipements are originals Otherwise very nice vid as always ;)
I know what you mean, but i have really good connections, and only buy from people with a lifetime guarantee of authenticity. The SS items i have are original, and so is the DD SS helmet! :)

Best thing to do is buy a book first, also never trust everything they say on a forum, i've seen people say stuff was fake a lot of times , while it was definitely real! We in America are lucky in that we have a decent pool of genuine Nazi era helmets in America: we are lucky that some influential American GI Joe's and servicemen were allowed to take home , just one, Nazi soldiers helmet(s) and service pistols of dead Nazi officers from recently concluded battlefields during ww2. I first had a chance to see and handle a Nazi soldier helmet at the Westgate mall in Brockton, MA a couple of decades back or so. The genuine Nazi helmets seem heavy, when lifted, almost like cast iron.
