    If you're ever bored and want to make your M40 replica more accurate you could turn it into a reissue helmet by repainting it and going over the tri color decal but leaving the heer decal visible.

      Cheers thanks for that, yeh that sounds like a good idea, especially as the decal is a really cheap one, all the best m8🙂🙃🙂

    yeah your totally correct on doing these yourself, as you know on my insta i have started to try my hand at these,,The amount of joy you get with a finished helmet is epic,, much better than getting so turnip in factory-warehouse to pimp up is a waste.. everyone has their own likes-dislikes, I am brimming with ideas on what to do to each helmet i have and lots of tatty wire to add to them..great up load Dan.. cheers mate.

      Good stuff yeh I get you 100%....why not give it a go?..at first I thought I'd taken too much paint off my repro m35 but now it's been like that for a year or so I think it looks fine...not real but acceptable....there are some really good repros that have been made to look real and I'm no where near that standard but it's just fun doing it and as you said, the satisfaction one gets from doing it is great....cheers and thanks 🙂🙂🙂🙂 btw some of the helmets you find that you've shown on Instagram, very very nice m8, good stuff 🙂🙂🙂🙂

      Cheers yeh a fellow youtuber suggested it and I thought with me having two different types of repros it would be a good idea to show people, all the best to the 'blitz's'🤣🤣🤣

    Good comparison between a cheap, fairly good example and a original 👍 good finds also.

      Cheers Chris, to be fair probably both repros were made in China, its just one type is rubbish, do best avoided...thanks m8 🙂🙂🙂

    Hello Stan, I was wondering where you got those helmet stands?
    Thanks

      @steelhelmetstan7305  10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Hi , yeh I made those myself out of an old broom shank and some circular cut pieces of wood that I painted up. Put an old sock on the top just to give a bit of cushion, hope this helps, all the best 🙂🙃🙂

    Great video. It does look like the molds for the repros have trouble getting the skirts quite right. Good explanation about getting a good quality repro and doing it up yourself. A good repro would definitely be a perfectly good stand in for the real thing, especially for the novice collector. The chicken wire idea sounds good for the other helmet and it would deflect attention from the shape. Even if it is a poor copy, it still fills a useful space in your collection and the Normandie color scheme does look good on it. No idea about those boots but several Warsaw Pact armies used jackboots and they look a similar to the old Romanian boots. Regarding your Soviet Cold War mannequin, are you going to dress it with a Denix AK47? Thanks for the mention as well. 👍

    • @steelhelmetstan7305
      @steelhelmetstan7305  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Al thanks for that, yes and I agree with your comments, yes I think the chicken wire idea might distract from its awful shape, I will have to try to get hold of an old piece....its the type of thing that might just 'turn up' 🙂. I really enjoyed painting up that helmet and the para one also....I'd never done anything like that before. I will check out Romanian boots just to see what they actually are, I'm not too fussed as for £25 I couldn't fall off, however they do seem a tad wide at the top....but the price was certainly right. Regarding the mannequin and a denix....that mannequin is a bit unstable, I've tied it to the wall but I wouldnt trust it with the weight of a weapon on it, as for denix, I've got 3 now and whilst I'm over the moon with the ppsh41 the others are a bit wanting and really are just things not to mucked around with, they aren't made well at all.....always something wrong, with the exception of the ppsh41 which was a good buy. I'm hopefully off to a militaria fair next weekend and I'm planning on getting another deac, but I will go and have a look and see if there's something there, I fancy a P14, but it depends on how the bolt action functions in the EU spec, I might not be impressed 🙂🙂🙂👍, cheers Al and all the best to you

    That's me all the way. I really want one for my collection of WW2 M1 helmets, but I'm scared I'll get my money taken again, and I don't know if I can handle that again. Peoples words aren't like it used to be.
    I wish I had you find me one or a clone close enough to pass.
    I really want to thank you for your help on your videos. Thanks, and God bless

      Cheers m8....buying from a dealer that gives a money back guarantee is a way to do it ...although expensive....another way that could be cheaper is buy a good relic...great for display. Another cheaper alternative is to get a hungarian or finnish m38 which are similar and cheaper....also invest in a good book on the subject....thanks again 🙂

    The boots look awesome ! ..I have a pair of Cold War boots like those.. except the soles on mine are rubber !!
    I have a replica nose ..I don't even have to wipe it !! lol
    The Chinese helmet was certainly not perfect.. but still a great looking lid !
    You've done a wonderful job ageing those replica lids mate !!
    The main meal of course is the original !!

    Decent original helmets are hard to find nowadays. I purchased a double-decal Luftwaffe helmet with liner and chinstrap in 1972 for $35. The same helmet would easily top $1,000.

    • @steelhelmetstan7305
      @steelhelmetstan7305  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thanks for the comment, yes I agree, I've recently took my tally of original helmets to 3, all from the same trusted source and at a good price....but they are still a lot of £££'s to buy. They make a good centrepiece to any display but nowadays you have to dig deep in your pockets for the privilege. Cheers and all the very best to you 🙂🙃🙂
