Hey, I wanted to expose how the lure actually works, there is two ways they do it.
The first way is simple, They will use a bank with a west facing entrance. When you trade a player and "DD" or stand on the same tile as them it will push the player 1 tile west when they accept the trade and will push you out of the safe zone.
The second way is mostly commonly used on high value lurers and friendship lures. The lurers will use two accounts with the same combat Level and a similar spam like name, They will start trading you back and fourth with the first account but when they ask you to take out your items from your bank, they will log in the 2nd account underneath and teleport on the first account and move it close enough to the bank to not be seen on screen but close enough to allow you to still trade the player, The second account will then ask you to trade them but will not send you a new trade request so the victim will have to click his last shown trade request in his chat log, This will drag the player towards the first account and out of the bank, This makes it almost impossible to stop this or click back inside the bank and you will die.
In the end if you go along with a lure for fun or to try and anti-scam they will use social engineering to profile you and find out how to lure you, I've seen pictures of max cap players and even player mods falling for this so don't be stupid and try this please.

I feel like that person getting your brothers name and email is pretty easy. Email especially since Jagex isn't exactly a secure place for information. But name, could just be a bit of trial and error since alot of gamers use the same username across multiple platforms and games. One thing i've learned from the OSRS community is that alot of lurers talk alot of shit and act like they are script kiddies when only like less then 1% are actual script kiddies.
I love seeing these anti lure videos cause it gives that feeling of "letting the lurer feel the pain" for once. I've tried, and failed to anti lure once for 400m. So it stung, but it was my own fault for entertaining the idea when I knew it was a lure.

Dealt with getting doxxed before. It seems like all they need is your IP address to figure out your name then from there they can find basic public information about you which seems scary at the time but shouldn’t be. They can kick off your internet and will play some pretty crazy mind games but best thing to do is just get a new modem with a different IP and start blocking/ignoring them and ALWAYS KEEP THEIR GP
First comment i've seen that mentions this, i'm not a hacker but I know they can pull ips from discord, not much they can do with just the ip unless you've done something wrong. E

I clicked it and a photo of the gear popped up and I said it was good and the person left the chat (they now had my IP address & I didn’t know) a hour later I was staking at the duel arena and someone sent me a request for like 20m and just let me win. They did this like 3 times in a row and obviously I’m freaking out and everyone in my chat (like 10 people) were all hyped up. Someone in my chat said something like (oh yeah they were in oda’s stream earlier giving away a bunch of gold. Hook. Line. Sinker. Lmao. Next thing I know the dude put up 3B which was my entire bank so I went and sold everything and came back and set up the stake and the second I entered the duel my internet went out. I’ve got it all recorded and you can just see me die inside realizing I just got scammed 3B. I logged back in expecting to have nothing and see a 6b platinum stack sitting in my inventory (i freaked out)…. I somehow managed to be him with just the dragon dagger I had equipped because auto retaliation was on and the RuneScape gods decided to give him the worst RNG anyone has ever seen (he had 4 specs and a whip to kill me and planked 😭)
The aftermath was pretty brutal… they kicked off my internet several times a hour and were harassing me in game demanding I give the gold back. I didn’t know they could get my name through my IP address at the time but from that they figured out where I worked and some family members names but again all that stuff is out there on social media so it’s not hard to find just terrifying when it’s coming in the form of threats from a stranger.
Best part about this story is I actually saw the account that I did the stake with in a PKing video here on TH-cam and linked the account to a popular pker named “Barnes” who was in one of the big Pk clans at the time.
I got a new modem and told him I knew who he was and he apologized and crawled back into whatever basement he came out of and I kept the 3B
They got 32bil and my account from me. Old security system was ass and when I streamed on twitch bak then there was a twitch exploit where they can see your ip then mask it as they their own and recover my account with basic doxx details. Jagex take ip address with basic recovery answers and give them my account. So fking dumb.
You can not sniff ips from discord.. The way his brother was doxed in this video is by simply using the same username on rs and mentioning it multiple reddit posts. Now you have his reddit account/username and can do a keyword search with that username and find out more about the target. This is very easy to avoid - do not use an alias you have used in the past as a runescape username and do not mention your runescape username on anything online like reddit or twitter. If you mention the user it will come up in a keyword search and now they have more than just your runescape name.

something i hope that is covered in part 3 is a bit more context about how they found your brothers name/email off of their rsn. was it *just* their rsn, or do they have a username login, that is the same as their rsn? asking as someone with a username login thats the same as my rsn xd
almost certainly because they used that name on a forum or other site, or it's their facebook url username or similar and that site contained additional info that linked up.

Also getting someone's account information and then finding their name from it isn't exactly that difficult, it's social engineering and just knowing what to look for. All he did was take a fake website he had saved in order to "prove" he's rich while trying to say that he doesn't "need the gold anyway" after getting caught slacking. This means this isn't his first time getting anti-lured and ended up failing several times while trying this - the fact that they didn't elaborate further proves that it's a fake website and everything about it is fake. If they're luring people, they can easily afford to buy a fake website like that.

Never underestimate a narcissist. It's not about the money (or value of items, gold, cash.). It's about the recognition they receive, Good or bad. They get high simply on the fact that people think about them. However, They often are good at making money through scams and ill means, as they don't have the same morals the average person does. (Not all rich people are narcissists, and not all narcissists are rich, but if you get a rich narcist, They might just do something silly like buying a company for a lot more than it's worth, or at market value, just to prove a point... (Or they climb Everest or build a deep sea submarine) These sorts are rife in runescape. Honestly, I genuinely believe runescape has made people in every day life much more wary of scams, but it has also created the scammers.
There is no difference between bitcoin and runescape gold (or any other tradeable gold in anygame) It's all crypto, I'll even add in money you put into a real life bank - It simply turns into 1's and 0's. There is a reason people tried (perhaps succeeded) in making online games solely for this value. I've seen the profit people on private servers have made and honestly you would not believe it... Even back in 2006 - 2007, Clan bosses were making heaps from donations - Clans would have rules, You must have this amount, You must pay a tax weekly, You must attend this mandatory event and risk X amount.

You can't pull IP addresses over discord voice chat/calls.
The only way they can is if you click a malicious link.

and as if people need vpns to protect themselves in discord voice chats is meh if you're aware of this.
The only time you're vulnerable is if you're clicking links.
All voice chat data is encrypted and sent through discord servers before it reaches the other person(s) in the call, for both private calls and voice chat channels.
There is a exploit around where you can get IP adresses over discord. Don’t know if it’s patched yet

The answers were bots, lurers, etc. If this alone doesn't scream lurers over bots ruining the game more, then I don't know what will. Lurers and scammers like the people in this video ruin the game more than bots.

Pip nice advertising 100% are in on it together with them, scum. The real lure is they want you to remove the junk items from trade and when you are removing them they cancel trade and you accidentally click outside the bank. Pip is in on the lure and so are a lot of high level service providers who boost chambers.

Going bandos might even be a different path into the lure. Wouldn't be surprised if that's one way to get info on your bank or gear you up for a lure.
