thank you for this video!!! dude ive been looking for a while for someone to talk and show the leap 2 and tbis was so insightful. it looks great! im sold and want one now. great video!
super helpful towards the Git download and where to place it. I did not have to add True - it simply worked! Yay for hand tracking in Resonite! :) Thanks
VRChat is next on my list of things to try with it, you can get it working with OSC! So far I've randomly stumbled across a piano world, but I'm sure there's more out there I haven't looked at yet!
@@PlanetNixia It definitely gets hot, but I've never felt like I'm in danger. I was hoping it would pick up my hands in a bigger volume, but still its very impressive.
The few bits in VSeeFace with Leap Motion 2 that you showed already looked so much better than the first one. Would it be possible to get a test video of the Leap Motion 2 where you're typing and spamming on your keyboard to see how accurate the finger tracking is? I noticed that the first one didn't like too much rapid movements. Just rhythm gaming questions :D
Did not know they were finally coming out with a new version. Did not want to get the old one but I think this could be great for flight simming. And the like button? I think I'm going to give this video a thumbs up!
Bahaha thanks for continuing the puns. I've tried a flight sim with some haptic gloves which was interesting, but I just can't do the glove thing for too long as a sweaty hands person. Depends on how wide the dash is if used on flat only but for VR it could be really interesting!
Could anyone help me with this issue I have with the leap motion 2 controller? I have it plugged in with the usb-c cable and I downloaded the right software and the camera will pop up but it just comes up as black and white static. How do I fix that?
Thanks for sharing. It is indeed early days of hand tracking. The installation in SteamVR does not look straightforward and the integration is not designed to allow for easily switching between hands tracking and conventional controllers tracking (e.g. Index controllers). It's been quite a while since the first Leap Motion sensor came out and the whole thing still looks experimental, unfortunately.
Yes, I think that's my biggest complaint although its possible I've also become spoiled by how easy it is to switch from controllers to hand tracking on the Quest.
@@AtomBombBody today I received the UltraLeap Motion 2 and attached it to a Varjo Aero for testing and experimentation. The Aurora demo is indeed very interesting and representative of the capabilities of the UltraLeap solution. While not as accurate as Valve's Index Controllers, the UltraLeap solution is great for applications that do not require very high resolution and accuracy.
ok i feel crazy but i cannot have it to work in vseeface. i had my first leapmotion work just fine and it tracks in gemini just fine but my leapmotion 2 is not showing up in vseeface .-.
so i figured out my issue. i somehow clicked compatibility mode in vseeface and i may have connected my steamdeck usbc cable instead of the other usbc cable for it since theyre both on my desk and look identical lol
Not by default, someone would have to create an app to do this. I'm not sure how great it would work out though because your hand is meant to hover over the device, not trace along it like a trackpad.
That's correct. You use these in game touch pad controllers which are very difficult to use to move around and open menus. If you want to try it in VRChat I'd use your actual controllers to position to where you actually want to be before switching on the Leap 2.
Thanks! I think I was obsessing for a while over getting passthrough charging working through a hub (no luck yet). Will try something simpler like this.
Eh there are some worlds that support it but you would need to figure out how to navigate and get to them first. Trying to move around and use UI in VRChat is extremely difficult because VRChat wasn't built for it. You'd have to use your controllers to get where you want, get *exactly* where you want to and then switch your controllers off and get the Leap Motion on. It's a bit of a pain.
@@AtomBombBody thanks for sharing. Looks like the software is not built for hands tracking and I wonder whether we'll have to wait for hands tracking to be integrated into the HMDs or a software driver/adapter may allow for a more user friendly upgrade path using an UltraLeap Motion Controller 2 as an add-on.
Considering ALVR open source VD latest 20.0 uptdatedmoved to openxr, LM2 support should be easier and eventually added by those cool devs community (ALVR has Quest pro eye/face traking to PCVR already) I wonder if LM2 can make the Apple vision pro UI demo for quest pro better, because LM2 should has less lantency and more accuraccy than Quest hand tracking for that demo
I'll be happy when desktop VR takes on hand tracking in the same way that meta has. I don't even use my controllers anymore. Granted, I don't game. I use immersed, and when I'm not doing that I'm browsing with the headsets features. It's a game changer, and the PC space is sorely lacking in this department.

Oh awesome, thanks for this! I just got mine, and it's really fun. Never thought of all those other use cases for it.

What are some of your thoughts on it? I worry about the heating issue I've heard with the previous version. ^_^

I was thinking of using it on my desk or my monitor. I worry about it getting so hot that it eventually stops working. @@Megasteakman

Can you demo MSFS😊 BIG BIG THS❤
Is there a way to place this so it doesn't have the elbows up all the time?
What do you mean by elbows up?
How did you mount the Leap Motion to your monitor?
I let it hang down a little from the top of my monitor by the cable 😅
"screentop" is also an option again with the latest Gemini software
Also you need a 3.0 cable like what's included otherwise it mentions that tracking is reduced in the control panel
6:28 the latest driver automatically switches to headset mode
HI QUESTION! Do the cords really need to be short? asking cause of my rig setup being under my desk
Should be fine as long as its not a 2.0 USB cable!
