Also something to note around Mighty Car Mods: we are normal guys and are not trained mechanics. We like to make interesting car mods and show you how we've gone about it, but we can't promise that anything we show you will work for your particular car, or that you won't harm yourself, someone else, your car or your warranty doing it. Please be safe, be responsible and unless you know what you're doing, do not fool around with very serious machinery just because you've seen us make it look so easy. Talk to a qualified mechanic if you are in any doubt.
Congratulations MCM, you have set the new record for the longest innuendo scene in any MCM video.
I know right? I'm wracking my brain to recall if they've ever done one that long. Usually they just last a few seconds, but that seemed to go for at least a few minutes.
hell possibly of any video ever lol
/applauds
I couldn't help but close my eyes for that part
This is true. Love it tho
When you guys were installing the hand brake line my Mom came in my room and asked what a I was watching, I told I was watching a car video. After me and my parents were eating dinner when my Dad starts talking about porn videos saying it's normal to watch. I guess they thought I was watching some weird porn or something because of you commentary. Any ways love the videos and shout out from Toronto Canada.
Mighty Car Mods
That's your fault buddy but don't crash on them bc those are the best moment of this whole channel bc it's fucking hilarious!
Damian Jasiulewicz
I never said it was there fault and I'm not trying to crash on there best moments I find them great too that's why I said love the videos. Lol
+Damian Jasiulewicz he never said anything like that
Hahaha. The best 2 minutes of mighty car mods
+Damian Jasiulewicz He never bashed mcm for it.
That cable install was like the worst sex education class ever.
It's honestly miles ahead of any American sex Ed class.
Or the best... I bet more kids would pay attention if it was car related innuendo
oh shi..thats more than i need..the shaft, the rubber...fingers..oooh shi...
You guys are awesome! Funniest part of this video was the handbrake cable install! Keep up the work!
Go to 14:16 close your eyes and listen to the video
I was thinking the same thing
YO WTFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF
lol, was half expecting to hear the bleating of a goat through that lot! XD
14:11 is where I think it starts
Yeah same thing hahahha
At least you guys are staying safe and using a rubber
lmfao
hahahahhaa
Fucking love all the innuendo
XD hey Figureight
What's up I didn't think I would see u here
ALEX
OMG UR A GTA UTBER
+MrSoleman2010 SO???
Sometimes the brake proportioning valve is different on rear disc brakes compared to rear drum brakes. If you convert to rear disc's, sure, you will have working disc brakes, however the brake bias will not be ideal with a rear drum proportioning valve. Drums operate at a lower brake pressure than disc brakes, yup, you will be lacking hydraulic pressure with a drum prop valve with rear discs
+1 (can't like the comment cause I'm on mobile soooo....lol)
*****
Awwww man.... I wheel my computer around in a little cart so I can turn into a keyboard warrior at any moment in time. :)
if you just just put discs on my car bias valve will cause rear wheels to lock up under hard braking (very dangerous) haha you defiantly have to make sure bias isnt going to kill you
more so if the cars lowered as brakes usually have a compensator also for the rear wheels for when theres a full boot/extra weight
coco mgee
Nope, More like nose dive. The car I have came from the factory with a drum proportioning valve but had rear discs.. The low pressure won't allow the rear discbrakes lockup, in fact the rear disc brakes will last forever when the fronts will wear out 3x as fast
Now with a modification I can feel the rear brakes working and the car nose dives alot less under threshold braking
Thanks for this episode guys. I have been debating for a while now whether or not to put some discs on the rear of my 65 MGB. So, off to the junkyard to see what I can fit into the massive 14" wire wheels. Semper Fidelis
I did a drum to disc front conversion on a 1972 Holden LJ Torana I had years ago. Changed the who system including the stub axles because I used a Girlock system from a V8 LX Torana, Discs were thicker and the pad surface area was double the LJ disc pad area, and widened the front track a bit, which also helped handling. Had to also install a brake booster that the front drum set up didn't have, But the braking was awesome.
One good thing to do when doing these upgrades when getting wrecker parts, Is recondition everything, Especially the calipers, you don't know how long they've been sitting.
I was lucky enough to get my parts at a swap meet for $100 & that came with new discs. I reco'd the whole lot for around $400. Ask yourself, how much do you value your life? a few $100 can make the difference between life & death.
Another quality video guys. Keep them coming. :)
The sexual inuendos kill me xD
At some point I was like “what’s going on?”
i dont mean to be so off topic but does any of you know of a method to get back into an instagram account?
I was dumb forgot my login password. I would appreciate any assistance you can give me!
@Rodney Patrick Instablaster ;)
Man these guys have been youtube for years and are still consistently putting out, hands down the most entertaining car-related content out there. Props.
Close your eyes at 14:00 and just listen.
THE BEST. Hahaha.
nasty
This is exactly why I don't cast these episodes on my TV.
they always do it lol
i was just about to say that hahaha
Instructions unclear, installed 3.5" floppy disks as brakes. Accidents happened, now in hiding, don't find me please.
You should definitely upgrade to CD/DVD or if your budget allows get BluRays should give you more bite.
c:/carshit/stop.exe
Oh they didn't save you from crashing?
I'm an 11 year old boy and I was working on a project car with my dad and he sadly died six months ago. I want to drive it when i'm 16 so I can remember him always, but I couldn't understand how to change the brakes. This video helped soooo much and I cannot thank you enough for what you've done for me.
-Carter
you guys getting that brake cable through sounded so dirty, i couldnt stop laughing
ha ha ha ha ha......lol....oh my goodness
I actually lost my shit watching that part
i think that was on purpose cause that was like five minutes of strange dialogue
"the rubber fell of" yep indeed
me too
Just quietly, really impressed with how you guys are controlling the reverb in your new garage. Awesome work.

Love the show! wish you did more videos like the Turbos and Temples - Mighty Car Mods Feature Film
hey there M8's. love the videos and you two are the Australian versions of me an my friends here in the states. keep wrenching and chopping
I am ready for the roadkill crossover
Mate I wish I could get one but the flag of Australia is painted on my wall and I cant block that beautiful view hope you under stand
+-Toolsofthetrade- that would be epic
I liked for the brake "shoes" right at the beginning 🤣
The last couple minutes of you guys inserting the brake cable was hilarious hahaha LOVE IT
Those sexual innuendos get me every time lmao. I love you guys (Full homo)
Perks to working on cars. You can always find a way to make innuendos like that :)
"The rubber fell off inside"
been there and done that...
you need smaller rubbers m9
Just fart it out.
Jorge Padua burn 🔥🔥🔥
Congrats on the kids
Did u lube it
Fun fact to know, adding on to what Marty said, rally cars still sometimes use drum brakes as they function better as a handbrake, thus making handbrake turns more effective.
That was by far the best innuendo I have ever seen on TH-cam! Holy shit my stomach hurts!
Keep up the awesome work guys. Can't wait to see what's next for 2Sexy !
Regarding the drum vs discs, without calculating everything out, I would wager that the amount of braking force generated by the drum brakes is less than that of a single piston caliper. The drum brakes have very small pistons in the wheel cylinder, which is why the shoes need to be so big. A caliper piston is significantly larger and can clamp much harder, so you don't need as much pad surface area. Hydraulics is all about effective area of the piston.
Anyone else like Me and just hit the Like button before even watching the video? Because, I know I will like it anyway and I don't want to forget to show them some love.
Every time!
Yeah
Same every time.
yeap
Every time, they never disappoint
Haha I remember your early episodes when you trolled us, installing speakers... "First, jack up your car."
Just close your eyes and listen at 14.20.
Intended. lol
xD lol
Im erect
thatsthejoke.jpg
I'm going to have my roommate listen to this with no clue as to what it is.
I couldn't see Cheryl from our camera angle but it was nice of you guy's to include her in your video. Ps sorry that the rubber came off the shaft inside from to much lube and her nipples are bleeding. But we could have a Martinanne or a Moog jr on the way. exciting stuff.
am I the only girl that's loves to watch these guys and actually work on cars a d in a shop? I always get so excited to see these videos. it's the best part about my day!
Workshop clean up? Looks good! Nice and clean and organised. The ear protectors hung up, cables run nicely and tucked away, speakers. Awesome man cave. How about a video tour at some stage?
Your rear brakes will lock up before your front brakes now... You need to change the master cilinder or put something (don't know the English name for it) between your master cilinder and rear brakes, to change the pressure that is going to the rear brakes.
proportioning valve?
in some cases yes, not in this one. it's a fairly common modification to these kind of cars so we checked first.
the word your looking for is called a valve and that that holds slight pressure on drum brake slave cylinder so they dont go back in this valve is normally inside the brake master cylinder
its a very common thing for people to forget when converting a car from drum to disc
it can also lock your wheels by not releasing the 1 or so psi pressure that the drub setup needed
Mighty Car Mods I trust you guys did. But drum brakes work on a different pressure then disk brakes. So out of curiosity. How is this compensated with this particular car?
it's mostly older cars that have the residual valve on drums. most auto adjustment drums have a standard proportioning valve that's the same. most newer cars 99 and up at least that have disc options use same prop valve and master cylinder.
This is a talented, professional level of innuendo. That was like a full 2 min of non stop quality innuendo
I finally understand drum brakes thanks to your excellent scientific illustration. Cheers guys, best wishes from Copenhagen :-)
This is the only video that shows detaily how it's being done. Thanks
is that the new shoe test.... for drum brakes
Ita really not a stancer
That s how drumbrakes work 😂
hey thats the save icon not a disk
cringe haha
maybe you save it on he disc :0
ohh god
it has started.
Yes because a CD just doesn't look right
ok,,,,correct me if im wrong here. A drum brake master cyl has a detention vale that keeps fluid from moving backwards, but only on the rear brakes, so changing to disk without changing the master will cause the new disc brakes to rub and wear and get very hot. not to mention a different volume of fluid for disc/ drum brakes. Thats why the master with rear drums has a different sized res. for the rear.......ok im rambling......but i have run into this many times. If im right.....please send a tee shirt and bumper sticker for tech advice fee......
(( was worth a shot ))
The master cylinder has nothing to do with the front/ rear distribution of the brake fluid. The master pumps fluid to a proportioning valve, which then directs some fluid to the front brakes and some to the back.
They can just remove the valve, it's not needed in a disc system and can be removed. The lower capacity reservoir will not be a problem other than the initial bleeding of the system, and the need to religiously check the fluid level.
Source: www.speedwaymotors.com/Tech/brake-system-selection-service-performance-operation.html
but what about the pressure and volume of fluid now going to the rear? and the one way valve ( wrong word ) seems to me the rears going to lock up instantly now
matt sez it won't lock up the rear, at most it will make the pads drag. But as I said, this valve can be removed and you would not have a problem.
The pressure and volume of the fluid would not change, only the capacity of the reservoir. Let's take a 1996 Galant as an example; it uses the same master cylinder for both rear drum and disc brakes. It only uses a different one if the vehicle is equipped with ABS.
+matt sez I think what you're referring to is the proportioning valve. That would need to be changed for proper brake bias.
This has been the best episode of MCM ever.
no
I'm an immature teenager so I think it is*
That part where you're putting the handbrake cable in is pure comedy gold! Nice one.
Love those dirty conversations during the installs 😂
No master cylinder or proportional valve change?
I'm thinking you guys only did half the job here...
I was thinking the same thing. It needs a residual pressure valve at least
Brad Fink
I've only ever heard of those being needed when the master cylinder is installed lower than the calipers on some hot rods.
+Maxwelhse disks need a little residual pressure so they don't back off the rotors. usually just a few psi
Brad Fink
I thought that was all handled in the master cylinder, usually? I've never had a car that had separate valves for it and I've only seem them on hot rods for the reason I mentioned.
I suppose mitzu may have used the same residual pressure for both
14:16
they do this every episode and it's always the same setup but it gets a chuckle out of me every time. why?
This video was a nice throwback to the young days of MCM. So gooooooooooooood!
the whole two minutes from 14-16:20 is the BEST MCM SEXUAL INNUENDO EVER
Close your eyes at 14:30 sounds weird
like always
I'm pissing myself watching this 😂
#sexual
What innuendo? >:)
#intented
I am amazed you guys don't have a TV show on sky or Amazon or something, I would love to see something mad like a cross country race in modified vehicles of your choice, on road and off.
14:23 and on had me rolling on the floor.
Man.. I'm exhausted after that! LOL... enjoyed the video. Always looking forward to what is to come.
Ayeeeee Proton represent! I drive a '02 Proton Waja(Impian for all your Brits) and it comes with disc brakes on all four wheels.
Happily buying second hand parts from scrapped recovered stolen vehicles
Sadly, it's a PITA to work on because no videos exist for any part of it
Never before has a brake conversion DIY made me so randy.
omg!! the conversation while putting in the emergency brake...I can't stop laughing!!!! You guys are hilarious!!
Guys, you should make video in which you make fwd and rwd from one model of subaru with the same weight and power. And finally find which one is better in different situations.
Finally find out? It's well known. RWD is faster around a track because it helps your corner better. FWD has better traction with more weight over the wheels and is cheaper to make but also suffers from torque steer unless the engine is mounted longways with the flywheel facing the rear like in AWD models. FWD can actually be tuned to be really good on a track but it is very difficult to do and it can never match the cornering performance of RWD completely.
FWD does not have better traction. When you accelerate the weight is transferred off the front wheels and onto the back wheels which make spin. On top of that on a FWD car the front wheels are using their friction for accelerating and turning at the same time which also makes them worse on track. That's why FWD cars have a tendency to understeer. It is also way easier to get a RWD car to have a 50/50 weight distribution because of them having the transmission in the middle or a rear transaxle like a Corvette. RWD cars also have a differential in the rear. FWD is only better in adverse conditions like rain and snow which is why it is used is most commuter cars. In terms of performance cars its kinda poop. Hot hatches are pretty much the only performance FWD cars for a reason.
Right I meant more traction in snow and bad conditions. Not under hard acceleration.
FWD is by far the most stable kind of vehicle, it does not oversteer, and it is also far more aerodynamically stable. A vehicle with a rear mounted or mid mounted engine is less stable at high speeds than a FWD.
Safety does not however translate into track times.
Carbon 12
FWD has nothing to do with aerodynamics. Its more stable in a straight line because of most of the weight is at the nose. Actually some FWD cars do over-steer. Over-steer and under-steer are controlled a lot by the suspension set up. FWD technically has nothing to do with engine placement, you can have a rear mounted engine and FWD, its an odd set up but you can do it. Also there is a thing called front mounted mid engine. Which a lot of GT cars have. All mid engine means is the engine is in between the axles. Most vehicles with a mid engine set up also have a lot of down force when they are at speed so they are perfectly stable. Length also helps with straight line stability while width helps with corning stability.
It's amazing what removing parts did for this car so far!
I work at a mercedes specialist and mercedes uses a combination of drum and disc brakes at the back. the discs brake with the pedal and the drum brakes are used for the handbrake, since these constructions for the handbrakes are cheaper.
16:35 - did any of that fluid actually make it into the reservoir?
Lol
it really didn't look like it hahaha
"The rubber has fallen off inside"... lol
14:16 the innuendo is strong with these two. =)
nice vid. I have seen all your vids and done some mad mods on my car (Renault espace) and they all work! I have got about 50 extra unicorns (50bhp) out of my car. the biggest amount of power come from dci tuning chip. they do work!!!
Really happy to see you have a Québec license plate in your garage!
Cheers from Québec :)
You should have painted all the calipers
lol +5kw
+Gkeoz's Workshop haha yee true
Function over form, that's the point of 'unmodifying' 2 sexy, the colour of the calipers has no baring on performance, so fuck painting them.
GTiR23
Actually i was being sarcastic
Painting the calipers are just for the look
Gkeoz's Workshop I know brother, I was replying to the original comment. I hope anyone watching this vid doesn't actually think you'll gain 5kW by painting your calipers haha! By 'performance' I meant how the brakes worked rather than an increase in engine power lol!
should get a vinyl wrap done on this.
no
Adds weight!
spray can paint job i reckon
Yeah, and they should add neons, and add a subwoofer in the boot too.
i think they just removed it
Dat innuendo with fitting the handbrake cable I'm laughing so hard my balls hurt Damn you marty and Moog /s
fucking died lol
i miss the background noise from the old mike set up but all is so clean and crisp now
I've did this on my Daewoo Nexia. Used front brakes from Opel Astra F GSi and rear disc brakes from Opel Vectra A. Worked really well, since Nexia had ABS and it divided pressure correctly between brakes.
HAHA that commentary was priceless, great vid fellas
I think after 2sexy is finished you two should try make a 8second drag car, gotta chop dose hondas
14:00 - I haven't laughed this hard all year!!
did this mod to my pre disc era honda crx. Super easy and affordable. Thanks to scarebird brakes for the brackets
Awesomest demostration of how something works ever
The scene where they installed the wire was hilarious XD
16:11 "ahh theres a big chunk coming out man" 🤣🤣👀
re: longer wrenches, just slip a pipe over your standard wrench. does the same job. shitloads cheaper
Its called a cheater bar or cheater pipe.
Rumor has it, thats exactly what the cheap lube shops use to tighten your oil drain plug bolt. Bit not before ensuring its cross threaded using a 1/2 " hurricane impact gun.
CasualFan Earthquake* from the good ole Harbor Freight Tools ! 🤣
The installation of the e-brake cable sequence was hilarious!!!
You guys are awesome !! I found your TH-cam channel last night fixing my car and I couldn't stop watching . So I spent all fucken morning in 115 degrees in the Vegas fucken sun ! Thank for the good laugh and great info . Chow ;) 🚐🚙🚗💪👌
Please put on the EVO wing just to rice it up a little.
paint the calipers neon yellow for a legit +15kw gain in power
lmao at the brake cable part haha
Good job Marty Inside a disc brake conversion into 2sexy 👏👏👏👏👏👏
Those "under the car innuendos (or innuendi)" are superb!
moog take your hat off i wanna know what happened to the fro
he's bald now
licking all kinds of terrible things(no sherryl jokes please) have made moog go bald :)(
+Vincentius Chandra gosh that must be a weird sight haha, I've always imagined him with hair..
It's winter in Australia now. Different hemisphere.
Did he just say proton sell 4 disk card to make selling point?
Same here
probably in the Australian market. Sadly kat Malaysia kita kena convert huhu
Oh man, I got a serious laughing attack during 15:00 till 16:20... ^_^ #dirtymindsrule
UncleManuel 😂😂😂
Awesome! Though I do have something to add I didn't see in the video but yet is an interesting fact. When topping up the brakefluid it did look like not all of it went into the reservoir, best to clean that up right away with water or it will react on the paint causing it to rust in the long run.
Neat Trick if you don't have a big enough spanner to apply enough torque to those tougher bolts: take another spanner and hook the ring side over the open end of the first spanner in the direction you want to turn the bolt. works like one big spanner and then you can take them apart again when your done to have two little spanners again
Found out TH-cam unsubbed me from your channel.
Guess what?, I'M BACK SON
All disk brakes are...self adjusting also.
im dieing laughing when they were putting the emergency brake line in
I am old enough to have been driving cars in the US that were built before front discs became a thing. I can tell you that virtually identical cars that one year had all wheel drums and the next year had front discs, stopped in far less distance than the all drum brake cars did. About the ONLY thing that was bad about early disc brakes is if you drove through a good sized puddle of water you had to tap the brakes to dry them right afterwards because if you had to brake hard shortly afterwards you had no braking for a second. That was rectified fairly shortly afterwards, but my 1970 Galaxie LTD with front discs was always plagued with that. I don't know what is in newer import cars but in older US cars the brake master cylinders were different between all drum brake cars and front disc cars because as someone has mentioned discs operate at higher pressures. That is why disc brake pads can be much smaller while supplying more braking power than brake shoes.
Back in middle school, that disk could fit an ENTIRE book report! The future is here everybody.
I love the sex talk 😂
for real yo it's hilarious
Two and a half minutes of sex jokes, classic!
close your eyes at 14:15 and let your imagination take over
also, for those that don't know, drum brakes are preferred for offroad use. especially when you're mudding or going through dirty water, sand, whatever. drum brakes will work better then disc because with disc, the pads will squeeze the dirt, gravel, etc into the disc wearing both out faster over time, drums keep most out and also more likely to scrap out all the junk when applied. all you need to do with drums after offroading is drive a little applying and releasing for a few rotations to clean them out.
as for disc is good on pick up trucks also for hauling, as my truck has disc front and rear, for greater stopping with out roasting your brakes or catching fire from overheating. especially since some trucks when hauling rely on your rear brakes, where your load is, to stop.
Not an import guy, more of a mopar guy, but still love the content as it carries over to American made cars. 👍
uhh...proportioning valve?????
Look under your seat. They gifted one to all the viewers
dont think you understand. drum brakes use a different proportioning valve
uhhh... parts bin, its the same.
whats up guys. wasn't sure. I usually work on chevy (holden i think its called there) they needed swaped out for disc type....
Yeah I was wondering about that too. I've done a few disc brake conversions on a few different cars, some require a different valve, some don't. Trickiest one was an old 1965 Ford which never had discs as an option back then. Getting the pressures exactly right was a good learning experience.
Fuckin' Aussies, ya gotta love 'em.
omg ..I just craped my pants ...so freeken funny
I just love Marty's face to Moog's question at 4:04, just love it
After talking so much about switching to discs to keep the brakes reliable under abuse, I was surprised you tried to keep as much old brake fluid around as possible. Moisture builds up in brake fluid over years of sitting and lowers the boiling point. That means if your fluid got hot enough you could lose at least half of your braking system when you need it most. I would put new fluid in the reservoir and bleed it until it comes out clear. As an added bonus it can also help prevent a frozen caliper, anyway, love the videos as always, stay s3xy
