      Hey Ben, about painting burl. If you choose a slightly lighter base color you can use a darker wash that you wipe off the most so it pools in the deeper crevices then dry brush the peaks. That should yield a 3 dimensional dynamic look to it!

    • @blodpudding
      @blodpudding ปีที่แล้ว

      An idea I had with your ships in a bottle, how about casting the water part first then use a dremel tool to sculpt waves? Then you could have one partially submerged ship in rocky waters and sharks lurking underneath!

      Beautifully exquisite that would look amazing in any home, you have a wonderful talent for making gorgeous pieces Ben

    Next time you use a ship with a large space inside it, you can drill a hole in the underside and inject resin to fill up the cavity with a syringe. If you are bothered about looking into the space and seeing the hole, it can be angled so as to emerge from a corner or some other place hidden from view. You can even use the same batch of resin as you cover it with, just plug up the hole with some UV and harden it to seal it in.

    • @redschafer7804
      @redschafer7804 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      wow you said that better then i could i was trying to think how one could fill up the dome with resin couldn't you have filled the whole thing up with uv resin since it had a clear top

    • @mikkohernborg5291
      @mikkohernborg5291 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@redschafer7804 In my experience, filling large volumes with UV resin isn’t very good. It tends to heat up and/or make a lot of bubbles when it is too much, but I guess that also depends on what kind of UV resin one uses.

    • @redschafer7804
      @redschafer7804 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@mikkohernborg5291 i have 0 experience with any type of resins so thats good to know

    • @funo6581
      @funo6581 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@mikkohernborg5291 I think he was recommending using 2 part epoxy to fill the void and just sealing the hole with UV resin. There are some terrible UV resins out there. But, both Let’s Resin UV and J Diction UV are good, adding too much black or dark pigment will inhibit UV from curing. Also using Alcohol inks with UV prevents curing as well.. I found both of those out the hard way :) I recently heard a good tip for curing UV, place a mirror under the mold. I haven’t tried it yet but, it sounds like a good idea.

    Lol I immediately got the theme tune playing in my head when I saw the thumbnail. And it was such a clever idea to use the colour shift, not only does it give it a spacey terrain, but picked up tiny particles of glitter like spacedust in the resin too. Love it!

    I like how the initial resin pour frosted the dome of the Jetson's flying car so you have to really look to see that there isn't anyone in it. Your second pour looks amazing. It resembles a nebula. It makes it look like the Jetsons are cruising over a distant planet that near a cloudy nebula.
