Turns out this part about the four sons might be the most interesting one. I love that you have given each of them their own personality with different background concepts. It makes the immortal's quest so much more interesting; being faced with something different everytime, yet the outcome always stays the same. The immortal not wanting to kill the fourth son is also a nice touch, adding a sense of realism, because nothing is just black and white. Thanks again for giving us this track-by-track insight.
I like the last one not being a total piece of shit, because none of the others were a challenge. Bribery didn't work, persuasion didn't work, and power didn't work. That being said, it was also easy for the Immortal to kill them because they were horrible people, so there's not much to regret there. But then comes the fourth. He has no pull, no influence, and no power. And yet, he's the hardest to kill of all, because unlike the other three, he's a decent person with a family. So despite being the least powerful as we would see it, he ends up posing the most difficulty because killing him is the most difficult decision the Immortal has had to make at this point.
The fact that UTA has only played The Coward's Way live once is an absolute tragedy. It was the song I listened to the most in 2021 out of all the songs I listened to that year.
The story is a big part of what makes this album really really good. Thanks for putting these videos together Brittany. It definitely helps expand on the story and draws us in.
As a reader and writer I find your presentation while explaining fantastic. Even if it may not be on purpose, you convey this passion and thoughtfulness about your story that is inspiring. The album is fantastic by the way, pre ordered it immediately. Unleash the Archers are just getting better and better.
"Ten Thousand Against One" has one of the most chilling lines in it by complete and utter accident- because I misheard them. I thought she sings "See their spirits lifting drifting apart knowing their body's left behind, like how their screams still remain heavy on the winds and whisper through the trees". essentially saying "these men are dying like the wind scatters their screams" I wish those were the actual lyrics. It makes Immortal so much more terrifying.
This has to be my favorite album of the year so far! I probably look like an idiot wailing along to it in my jeep with a metal claw held high but it just gets me pumped out of my gourd!
Sometimes lyrics get really metaphysical and wishy washy... but I LOVE how you and your group has these awesome concrete stories that are really interesting in of themselves, at face-value.
My favorite bands have always been Iron maiden and Judas priest, have been since the early 80's, however, with the release of Apex, Unleash The Archers have just shot to number one on my favorite band list, love the other albums but this one just blew me away, I can't say enough good things about it, just amazing.
i heard the album stream on some radio station a couple days before release and i was in love oh my god. Ten Thousand Against One is my current favourite but they're all so amazing. how everything flows, the story, it's all so great. also wasn't expecting Apex, the title track, to kick me in the feels but it did and it's so good. congrats on a perfect album, guys.
I loved this whole album the moment I listened to it but now learning the meaning behind each song and how they are all connected makes the album so much better! This album really requires the listener to sit down and read through the whole thing to fully experience it the way it was meant to. Not to mention the music is fast paced and badass with the vocal power!!
I do not know why or how but i just connected deeply with her and her artistic approach. Truly magical. Now I'm obsessed with this band. Thats how it works. Keep Working
@ReallyBurntToast Why do you think the mountain is gone? The Immortal returns to the mountain in Apex. Actually I got a response to this on Facebook, it's only about a month. It takes the Immortal about 3 weeks to meet with the Matriarch then another week to capture her sons.
love how the bookshelf only showcases the first volume of the Malazan Book of the Fallen by Steven Erikson like "this is a total mess, I dont get it, I give up, no more books in the series for me" :-) anywho, Apex sure is awesome
Finally got my pre-order today here in Australia and Its awesome. Especially the signed postcard from Brittney. I LOVE YOU BRITTNEY!... *insert fan girl screams*... (I'm a guy by the way). Seriously though, when are you coming to Australia?
They have their eyes on Australia for 2018, but nothing is certain yet. However, if things work out in their favour they would like to include Australia on their way to Japan next year. Well, at least that's the most recent news I've heard about UTA's tour plans.
This might be a dumb question, but in your head, what does the Immortal look like? It would help me imagine him. Also, is he a giant? Or just a normal sized guy
Absolutely love the album, great concept and story. I want to buy the album on vinyl but I can only find it on CD. Does anyone know where I can find it on vinyl? Going to buy it on CD otherwise.
You're a few days too late. Napalm Records doesn't offer the vinyls anymore, but the band seems to have a few left in their personal web store. Shipping costs can be pretty hefty, but on the plus side, you can ask for the vinyl to be signed by the band. unleashthearchers.bigcartel.com
Have you thought of making a film out of this storyline? It would be awesome, absolutely awesome. I know it may not be easy to get there, but have you considered it?
In their recent Q&A livestream on facebook they did say something about a graphic novel being possible. They also briefly mentioned something being animated, but a whole movie seems highly unlikely.
Vazoth graphic novel is the best bet. What we need is Amazon or Netflix to pick up making non-anime fantasy animated stories. Just need someone to be at the forefront of that.
This album is definatley different from what they have done before and I love that they seemed to define and polish their sound. My only complaint is they used too much vocal effects for Brit. I like the more raw vocals but still a pretty awesome album
Completely agree re the vocal effects. It's rather ironic that a technology that 'assists' people who can't sing can also steal the magic from one of the best vocalists around.
This album gets better and better the more I listen to it...Oh my god
I agree completely. The first time I listened to it I wasn't terribly moved. Came back to it about a week or so later and I am loving it!
I still haven't stopped listening to it on repeat... MY GOD
Im addicted. Brings me shocks.

The male vocals in Earth and Ashes were great, it's one of my favourite tracks.

this band is the real deal. so glad I stumbled upon them.
I love how calm she is, then you hear how powerfull her voice is and you're like "...what?!" x)
Anyway, I would totaly read a book with that story *w*

archers are literally getting better the more I hear them, sickkk

I do think its pretty unfair, you guys have raised my expectations for all new album releases... I need more concept albums like this!!!
Sometimes lyrics get really metaphysical and wishy washy... but I LOVE how you and your group has these awesome concrete stories that are really interesting in of themselves, at face-value.

This storyline's awesome! This would make a great graphic novel.
Agreed!
In a recent interview, Brittney Slays said she's working on making a graphic novel plus a follow up album to Apex.
I really like the message behind "False Walls" good job!
okay but her little canadian accent is actually adorable
The whole storyline is so amazing. Waiting for part 3 and greetings from Colombia!

I wanna see this as a movie! This album as the soundtrack would be an amazing work of art
Dude this is so genius, I'm not really into sci-fi and such but this is so well thought out. She is just really a legend.

I think this story leads to an apex part 2 in the future.
Good prediction. :)

Yup.

Really enjoying the album, picked it up on Amazon last week.
This album is my favorite album of the year so far. It's soooooo good
Love this Album!!!
Bought this album yesterday and I gotta say it absolutely crushes!!
i just came for the like and the view, best album of the year
How much time passes between Awakening and Apex?
@ReallyBurntToast Why do you think the mountain is gone? The Immortal returns to the mountain in Apex.
Actually I got a response to this on Facebook, it's only about a month. It takes the Immortal about 3 weeks to meet with the Matriarch then another week to capture her sons.
Son #2 reminds me of Thulsa Doom from Conan the Barbarian. Great album.
I was just thinking that.
Who performed the male vocals for Earth and Ashes? was it a guest vocalist or one of the band members?
It's sung by Andrew (red hair guitarist). Seems to have been a very spontaneous decision, but the band is very happy with the outcome.
Wow! I am surprised by that! Awesome!
A very nice twist indeed. They should consider to bring him more often as a counterpart singer.

Love the story!! - when are the book(s) coming out?

Thanks for the response! Shipping comes up to 40 dollars so that's not worth it for me. Going to the record store to pick up the CD tomorrow.
Track six is called False Balls according to the font 😂
We listened to this album constantly for a week straight and just uploaded our final review of this album over on our channel, come check it out!
