Well one drawback of quitting social media is I didn't hear about this album until yesterday. Promptly bought it and listened to it front to back 3 times already.
Hot damn is it amazing. UtA is such an underrated power metal band and this concept album is some good shit. Easily one of my new favorite albums of theirs and just a new favorite overall. Brittney Hayes is such a boss for posting these and explaining the story.
Very D&D inspired and something I will definitely consider when world building a future campaign.

In Apex 2, the Immortal becomes a giant colour changing cat and kneeds the Matriarch to death.

so i think i figured out that Brittney is the Matriarch and the light up cat is clearly the Immortal.
that being said, i loved the track-by-track series and can't wait to see what happens in Apex part 2, whenever that comes out. :D

Breakthrough album. Amazing song writing. Every track is NAILED. Its been a long time since I've loved every track on an album. Choruses are perfect and Brittany destroys them all with her amazing voice.
These videos put SO MUCH CONTEXT to an amazing album! I've already listened to it for years, but after finding these, I feel like I need to go listen to the tracks again with a fresh set of ears, just to appreciate the story hidden in the lyrics. Abyss is coming out soon and I can't wait to hear the continuation of the story of the Immortal and the Matriarch!

Please keep the "fantastical thematic" style of album writing. I want to be taken on adventure in my music, so many artists don't focus on this. With all those books in the background I hope "Swan Song" is one of them (Robert McCammon's best imo).
This woman's vision for this album and abyss is unreal !! I fully embellish my support for this and hope it comes to fruition. That graphic novel is gonna be off the chain.

How does the Immortal know something is coming for him?
WHAT IF The Immortal didn't bring the 4th son to the Matriarch, but rather a doppelganger and let the son sneak away with his family to be safe? He made a friend and showed mercy and betrayed the Matriarch (anticipating she was lying about freeing him).
Think about it the potential Apex II could be all about the Matriarchs rage and summoning him and having an epic battle where the Immortal defeats her and dispels all evil from the land... or perhaps he kills her but the 4 son is ACTUALLY evil and wanted this to happen to get the Matriarch out of the way for HIS dominance.
I get distracted at work a lot....

I feel like the Immortal's curse would prevent him from faking the identity of the 4th son, and from what we know the Matriarch was successful in her ritual of achieving immortality. My guess is that the next album will cover the Matriarch realizing the threat that the Immortal poses and the Immortal taking her out.
@@gigashadow yea, the ritual being successful was my thought too cuz she wouldn't have immortality if she had killed someone pretending to be her son. Rituals and other things of that nature tend to be very precise. They only work when followed exactly as instructed.

Doesn't sit right with me, it feels like we've only just finished act 2 of a 3 act story, there hasn't really been a resolution. The threat is still there, but the hope is still there, the tension hasnt been released and concluded. Maybe this is just one of those stories that don't have a definite ending, it's supposed to symbolize the futile struggle or something, but I hope there's a sequel, cause I love this build up and it looks like it could have a badass ending! Either way, I love this album, it's fucking killer!

Brittany, thank you for doing this. I watched and took notes from all three videos for this. I recently learned about y'all's band from my brother in law. Once I listen to Abyss more, or maybe just at some point before or after then, I'll watch your videos that explain it as well. I was originally mistaking "cleanse the bloodlines" to be the guy in the mountain and didn't understand how he could be a protagonist in the normal sense of the word, and wasn't following along very well, probably because I hadn't done a deep dive like this. You made it easy. Officially no need to go read anyone else's guesses/assertions of what any of the songs are about unless there's curiosity about underlying meanings/worldview stuff. Mad props for that. Having read a brief synopsis or part of one for Abyss (album), I now have a general idea of at least part of that story too.
Will Unleash The Archers play Dallas (TX)/nearby again at some point? I found y'all played at Trees in 2018.

After listening to the album and the 3 videos explaining the story arc, I'm totally and absolutely making a D&D campaign about it in wich the players accompany the Immortal (maybe as Matriarch's escorts) befriending him and maybe realizing her evil nature and looking for a way to free the Immortal from his eternal servitude cycles... all while constrained by the time limit of him actually completing her request.
I wonder what combat would be like, since the Immortal has super human abilities and can't die.

WOW! Not only do we get amazing musicianship from all members but an incredibly imaginative story.
Couple this with a theatrical stage show = a performance as epic as the album itself.
If there ever is a sequel, I'd imagine the Immortal's curse gets broken somehow and he's free, but fully mortal again. He'll probably die taking down the Matriarch after figuring out how.
I think a track by track for Demons of the AstroWaste would be really cool as well! Apex was a great album and have loved listening to it through numerous times already. :)

Such an amazing album, Apex is among my top 3 of the best albums released this year with The Stage from A7X and Magma from Gojira. I hope Unleash the Archers shall become more and more famous and will come to France if possible !

I do have to admit, I kinda hoped for a twist at the end, like gaining immortality would make the Matriarch the Immortal with same job and mountain bed, and the Immortal whoever he was before eternal life.

i misread this story so hard. like....in my interpretation the matriarch kinda became the hero because everyone else is so shitty. and the immortal is just something that's there as more or less an annotance to him. someone pops up to do a thing, he goes sure...whatever,2000 years later this won't matter. SHIT!!!!!! you just gave abyss hints! never been more stoked for a musical sequel

Man a part of me hoped for a sequel but I didn’t really think it was likely so I contented myself with looking forward to a new album regardless of the theme, but that hint at the end that the story isn’t yet over... can’t wait until the next album :D

The Revelation space is far the most scientifically accurate space opera, and the best story I've ever read. Sadly, only that, and the House of suns have been translated into Hungarian.....yet :D
Btw, in our opinion, the song Apex is a brilliant masterpiece, and the best track from the whole album. Everyone in the band loves it. Anytime of the day when we listen to it, gives us a new dose of energy and motivation, and we are very grateful for it :D
