First off I'm 68 years old and I've played guitar since I was nine years old in 1961. I also taught well over twenty five years. I try to listen to as many different styles as i can. I'm normally not a fan of what I would call speed metal of drumming with a lot of 'blast beats,' but I just found this band by accident and I just have to say WOW!! I'm totally blown away. When I was in a band in the '60's we were known as a heavy band playing Led Zep, Steppenwolf, Hendrix, Ten Years After, etc. If I were a young player today I'd probably be playing this kind of stuff. Thanks for posting.
This is the only band I've ever seen play a fully *immaculate* 1/16th note intro in 160BPM (Tonight We Ride) and it made me immediately grab the tabs and practice for hours. The bass solo in this track is pretty epic, but my favorite part is actually just how laid back the string players manage to look during their solos. I feel like I would be making a lemonjuice face trying to play something like this.
After all these years, this song remains insanely amazing. It's actually been my daughter's lullaby since she was 6 months old (she's 3 now.), and I sang it for her. Puts her to sleep every time.
It's amazing the songs that children find soothing. Realizing you probably weren't serenading her with a full band with a Marshall stack blowing out the windows 😜. My son was "Dead Eyes See No Future" by Arch Enemy (full band version believe it or not) and my daughter was "The Fire Never Dies" by Killwhitneydead/Line of Fire. I guess having metalhead parents helps.
"Apex" is a tremendous single on so many levels. Usually, songs over 8 minutes in duration tend to drag on for far too long & become an exercise in filler self indulgence, but not in this case. Everything just clicks with this number from the resounding percussion, to the all encompassing guitar riffs; & of course, the unforgettable vocals of Brittney Hayes. My, my, my can this woman sing. Jesus! You could put this track on a incessant feedback loop & I'd never grow weary of it. I love metal bands who aren't afraid to harmonize the chorus hook. "Can you follow me? Follow me to Apex." Once you hear that refrain, it will never leave your brain. It's like a permanent branding of your noggin. In addition, I also enjoyed how "Apex" started as a surreal ballad, galloped into a fast paced no holes barred anthem, & finally returned back to it's slow & subdued, humble beginnings. Nicely done Unleash The Archers! You have absolutely created a masterpiece here in the epic, Heavy Metal realm. Incredible.
Well said, but it's "no *holds* barred." The term came from pro wrestling, in which they used to make a big deal about illegal holds and maneuvers, which heels (the bad guys) always used behind the ref's back. Nowadays, it's just called No DQ or a street fight.
I love this whole album, but Apex is by far my favorite song. Love the 'Maiden guitar riffs as well. Brittany's vocals are so crisp and clear whereas other bands may not be with a song this heavy. Kudos to everyone in the band and Napalm for posting this masterpiece. Late Edit: This is the type of music I would love to hear on regular radio.
@@brianshakesby9826Haha you’re right about that. I never listen to it anymore. Like, listen to any classic rock station for example. You’ll hear Tom Sawyer by Rush EVERY DAY! You’ll hear Spirit of Radio, Limelight, YYZ…. one or two others maybe. But you’ll never hear another great song off Moving Pictures, which is Witch Hunt. One of the most epic songs ever made, IMHO. Yeah, you’re absolutely right on. Same stuff over and over and that’s why no one listens to radio.
Brittney's voice is always an 11/10 on an inspirational level - this song just blows my mind as she adds sheer beauty to her vocal quality. As much as I love her power vocals I hope to hear more of this tone woven into future works. Way to go on the guitar work too gents - I loved the Zepp vibe and also just had a weird Joe Satriani feeling in the solo that I've not heard in your other works I don't believe. So much tasty tasty music. Omg can we just get back to seeing bands live! UTA is on the top of my list.
it is my favorite work of them, the whole story that they try to tell of the immortal in the lyrics fits perfectly in the melody of the songs, just respect
this album is a gem. As an old rocker I love 'new' guys to keep the flame alive. She's has an awesome voice and attitude but let's not forget that the rest of the band is amazing too. This song's solos are soooo good and the drummer at 5:58 always takes me
I am discovering this band right now. It is really excellent! A mix of Angra with Iron Maiden, a Rhapsody of Fire vibe, and powerful female vocals. A gem in the midst of such a worn metal scene.
I'm just learning about them in 2020. At first I was like, "they're ok, I'll listen some more." Well the more I listen the more I like them, and I've currently been bingeing them for 4 days straight. They've solidified a place in my favorites. Great band!!!
I thought maiden right away as well. The guitar work and that lovely gallop! They sure have developed a distinct sound in the guitars, especially the solos. Listened to the album 12 times in the last 5 days. Up the irons
Stuck pn repeat in my brains. I cannot unthink of this song. My first steps into the heavy metal/rock type were on the beats of Iron Maiden. Now that ive hear this song, i only can highlight the sheer and raw talent of the whole band. They produced a masterpiece of the genre and i sincerely hope they will prevail for many years/decades.
the dynamics that make up this band the level of creativity here whether it be vocally lyrically musically and conceptually and the great feelings that others are going to pick up from this
I am just discovering this ridiculously talented band. This song has all the elements of Iron Maiden, Foo Fighters and Queensryche all put together into one amazing package. Incredible stuff!!
I´m so sorry. I don´t understand how anyone can give a dislikes to this song from the Apex album! This song is great masterpiece! This song belongs to the golden fund of Heavy Metal. My opinion :-).
I have had goosebumps occurring over and over again listening to UTA for the last ten hours. This album is absolutely phenomenal . Their other two albums are almost as good. It is great to see a band develop over time. To get better and better . This feels like a massive success when compared to so many other bands that start out good and lose themselves over time trying to evolve and progress their music. UTA started out great for sure, but they are only getting better as they go.
This song is f*cking BEAUTIFUL!!! As I listen, I picture in my mind an official music video with the band playing on a mountaintop just rockin' the summit. Majestic views, powerful riffs, pounding drums, and soaring vocals, just imagining the echoes across the mountains.
See I think this is the song when the good guy gets beaten down but he becomes his true self and gains one up on the baddies and starts absolutely pounding them a new one
Noora Louhimo and Brittney Slayes are the best current female metal vocalists!!! 💖💖💖💖💖💖 I love them so much!!! This album is amazing!!! Congrats U.T.A!!! Thanks for your music!!!
What a great band! Just discovered them! It's like a female version of the Air-raid siren! I can hear Steve's gallop in the base and kick drums too!! OMG it's Maiden on steroids!!
Rarely, very rarely do I fall in love with a band so completely that I buy every piece of merchandise I can find and find a place to tattoo their name or logo on my skin. Only one other band. Every UTA song is a masterpiece but I think this is their crowning gem so far. May Unleash the Archers have a long and successful career and I look forward to a world tour passing through my town!
Me too! with one other band (RIP Chester) Going on a road trip next week to catch them in Winnipeg and then Edmonton. With a stop planned in between for a UTA tat to show off at the VIP Meet and Greet \m/
When the first electric part kicks in, the guitar combined with the verse she's singing is just so beautiful and epic sounding, but also melancholy. It makes me feel sad at some parts but happy at others, this song.
I'm glad that the first time that I heard General of the Dark Army a few years ago, I didn't immediately slam spikes in my ears. It was tough to get into and only through it playing in the background a few times did it finally grow on me. Then, when I forgot about that song, Tonight We Ride pops up and I thought that was a killer band playing. Then I realized who the band was and how different it was. Then, Test Your Metal blew me away. I suddenly had the urge to jump on the UtA bandwagon, but only after they played at a close enough venue to go see them. Go figure. Fast forward to this year, forgot about UtA again and Cleanse The Bloodlines pops up. Amazing song, but not because just the music. Finally understanding the story telling aspect of their songs is crucial to really enjoying them. It's not just a band with grumble, grumble, drums, drums, drums, screams and a guitar solo. There's a great complexity to the lyrics on some of the songs that make you feel like you've stepped into the dark side of the book store, but you're loving it. The Matriarch is still growing on me, as will Apex and hopefully, they will make their way back down to the eastern side of Pennsylvania soon. I'll bring my first born son as payment. He'll be too busy on his tablet to notice.
Her voice is so full of raw emotion and edge and the vibrato is out of this world! A vocal coach brought me here. I was watching some reaction videos of their song Awakening and decided to check out some of the other songs. Gotta say, I'm really digging this band so far and think I might be a fan! lol
This is by no means my usual fare when it comes to metal, but I watched alot of reaction videos for The Awakening and was convinced it would be the best track on the album. Now having spun this album in its entirety daily for weeks on end and understand fully the concept behind it, I genuinely can't choose a favourite song, keeps changing every so often and at present Apex is the current ear worm for me, from this cd. A nod to The Irons indeed but like every other track the musicianship the arrangement the production and particularly the singing is excellent. Masterpiece is the main adjective I continually blurt out when expressing my devoutness for this album...
AND still my favorite album. I got into this band when I heard TONIGHT WE RIDE, and Brittney's vocals were . . . .well ain't nothing can properly describe it, and that Drummer Scott KILLED it. In a most badass good way. All bands I hear always emphasize and make me hear the guitars as lead, and yeah they cool, but this one here, I was actually able to hear everything. I tuned in to the drums mostly with guitar and bass complementing it and Vocals telling the story which BY FAR is awesome. Damn near saw a movie in my head by listening to it.
Saw then in Brisbane. Fucking incredible. This was their last song. Brittney...Jesus christ. Andrew on guitar is the modern version of Adrian Smith. Unbelievable band. See them. See them...
Everytime I listen to this song, it makes me feel like I'm in a journey, that starts slowly and becomes faster and more interesting with every second, keeps the pace at it's peek, then slows down again at the finish, when it's time to say goodbye. I mean, I've never heard a song that has such a meaningful and deep rythym and harmonizes so well with the lyrics. Brilliant song, needs way more recognition that than. Awesome stuff
There I was, still knocked over by "Awakening" convinced it couldn't possibly get any better when I stumbled into this epic track of impeccable technics and flawlessly blended rythm patterns. Man this album is so going to be added to my all time collection! It's been a looong and rocky way for the band let's face it but heck have they finally nailed it! Shift up UTA, this is it 🤘
Man this is sweet... Canadian eh! Me too and proud to be an AVID METALHEAD as it's me and how I like to LIVE... I am metal and tried and tested true metal and I LOVE UNLEASHING THE ARCHERS into my 49 year old ears and these guys should TOUR w/Battle Beast!! Very awesome Heavy Metal in my world! Unleash the Beast I say!!
Until I heard her for the first time a couple months back, I assumed that men were the ideal voices for rock/metal because of the power they are able to generate. She makes me question this philosophy!
Great and amazing song. Mega opera and masterpiece. One of my favorite songs. Incredible and amazing voice. Brittney has one of the best voices in the rock and metal scene :-).
That is my reaction, too. I understand what you’re saying. That has to feel great to the band knowing they are putting out genius level vibes that make people excited for life. We need it, right?
Interesting. Great instrumental sound accompanied by great vocals (love female vocalists). Overall Good music definitely gonna listen to it more than once. 👍👍
I grew up on Iron Maiden, Hammerfall, Blind Guardian .. But this song is the best piece of heavy metal I have heard in my entire life. Hell even my 67 yr old dad loves it :D
Just here adding to the number of views. Again. For like the 10000th time. I am not addicted. I can stop anytime. Just not right now. Or probably anytime in the near future.
Našel jsem to úplnou náhodou a fakt bomba,Britney Slayes-neskutečný vokál,mám to denně puštěné v autě i doma na plné pecky,a stále nemám dost....Dalis-Opava,CZ
Hello mountain, remember me
Child of your womb
I return from a perilous place
To the warmth of your hollow
Embrace me
Steady giant, monolith
Lend me your heart
I am weakened again, tired
Mend my scars
As your power, it sinks into me
Your roots take their hold
My body as one with the earth
My blood as the stone
The mountain, my home
Heavy walls enclose me
Cover me in endless warmth
And now the dreams will come
Lucid freedom takes me
To a world no longer run by the laws of relativity
Fly out beyond the stars
Where the wind takes me away
And leads me through the dark
Defying gravity
Can you follow me?
Follow me to apex
Can you follow me?
Follow me to apex
Through a meadow running
Feel the sun upon my face
And the air in intoxicates
Rushing like a river
Toward a waterfall that takes me out beyond reality
Away, you lead me through dark
Defying gravity
Can you follow me?
Follow me to apex
Can you follow me?
Follow me to apex
Can you follow me?
Follow me to apex
Can you follow me?
Follow me to apex
Can you follow me?
Follow me to apex
Can you follow me?
Follow me to apex
Brother mountain
Now we sleep
For a thousand years
I will see you again
Something is coming
Coming for me
very good lyrics

i listened to several powermetal bands but this lady's vocals... she makes the tones that give goosebumps
The 'gallop' at the end reminds me of old school Iron Maiden. Hallowed be the Archers. Well done.
You, sir, win the internets.
Best comment I've read about UtA. 🤘👍
The intro reminded me of Maiden right away. I had to take a look at the screen to make sure I wasn't trippin.

A nod to The Irons indeed but like every other track the musicianship the arrangement the production and particularly the singing is excellent. Masterpiece is the main adjective I continually blurt out when expressing my devoutness for this album...
Completely agree.
Bang on, for me too.
Wow. I’ve never been a metal guy but this is fuckin amazing! Cannot get enough of this band
Yeah same but I might use this band to get into the genre more, test the waters
Saw then in Brisbane. Fucking incredible. This was their last song. Brittney...Jesus christ. Andrew on guitar is the modern version of Adrian Smith. Unbelievable band. See them. See them...
Her vocal range is incredible! The entire band is as well, but especially vocals!
First Alestorm and then UTA?!?! thanks Napalm
I don't know what the Apex is - but i'll follow you wherever that is.
Shift up UTA, this is it 🤘
Truly a masterpiece.
Unblessing the purity very nice
This band just keep getting better can't stop playing the apex cd
I KNOW RIGHT?!? THIS IS ABSOLUTELY AMAZING!! 🤩🎸🎵🎶
Man this is sweet... Canadian eh! Me too and proud to be an AVID METALHEAD as it's me and how I like to LIVE... Unleash the Beast I say!!
Born n bread a Canadian metal head
She's definitely got one of the best voices in metal.
Ever
Until I heard her for the first time a couple months back, I assumed that men were the ideal voices for rock/metal because of the power they are able to generate. She makes me question this philosophy!
One of the best voices, period.
@@MrEgofreak to be fair lead female singers have always been great.
And it's extra amazing to hear her live, as I found out last week before the rest of the tour with Dragonforce was cancelled.
Just WOW! This song embraces my soul. Thank you Brittney and crew!
Every single song in this album sounds even better in it's proper place.
This is how you do a concept album.
amazing. i love listening to this while exercising. running through a meadow feel the sun upon my face. and the air intoxicates. beautiful.
The gallop near the end is so good
Great and amazing song. Mega opera and masterpiece. One of my favorite songs. Incredible and amazing voice. Brittney has one of the best voices in the rock and metal scene :-).
I've never wanted to charge a castle, with zero context, MORE IN MY LIFE.
What about when listening to Sabaton's "The Last Stand"?
No words can describe how good this song is!
Rarely can a song evoke so much emotion in me. This fucking just spoke to me on such a deep level. i fucking love this song
That is my reaction, too. I understand what you’re saying. That has to feel great to the band knowing they are putting out genius level vibes that make people excited for life. We need it, right?
The Maiden feels is strong with this one.
See unleash the archers click as fast as possible, and enjoy every second.
Interesting. Great instrumental sound accompanied by great vocals (love female vocalists). Overall Good music definitely gonna listen to it more than once. 👍👍
The whole album is so good. They made such a big progress and created a piece of art. I have not heared any better concept album yet.
My brother just sent me this. Shreds. Will be checking out more of their stuff.
You have a great and caring brother!
Brittney makes me cry when the riff hits and she starts singing over it.
Still fucking love this song. Absolute RIPPER
Honestly I think this is my favorite uta song
Why in the hell didn't I discover Unleash the Archers years ago?🤔
That's okay I have discovered them now, about a year into their awesome music now 🎶
WOw. did not expect THAT good quality. Great song
Awesome! Great job guys! And Brittney is perfect like always!
Lyrics and sound is giving me serious Dragonforce and Iron Maiden vibes, which is awesome. And great female vocals, too!
The subject reminds me of Vintersorg's "Astral and Arcane". It gives a feeling of some sort of connection with the earth and I LOVE IT!
Apex , Call me Immortal and Shadow Guide , The best songs of the album . I can hear these songs all the day non stop . AWESOME JOB .
I grew up on Iron Maiden, Hammerfall, Blind Guardian .. But this song is the best piece of heavy metal I have heard in my entire life. Hell even my 67 yr old dad loves it :D
It is incredibly rare for me to find music that affects me on an emotional level. This fuckin does it.
You know a song is good when you get a workout listening to it.
I am just hearing this for the first time. What have I been doing to miss this.
Just here adding to the number of views. Again. For like the 10000th time. I am not addicted. I can stop anytime. Just not right now. Or probably anytime in the near future.

Yeah, I could never really get into the earlier albums, but I *LOVE* this one. Whatever they did differently this time around worked wonders. \m/ (>
Yeah they really cleaned up their sound. This album is worlds better than their previous ones.
Našel jsem to úplnou náhodou a fakt bomba,Britney Slayes-neskutečný vokál,mám to denně puštěné v autě i doma na plné pecky,a stále nemám dost....Dalis-Opava,CZ
My friend Sarah said "it's 7 different genres of music in 8 minutes."
My first time hearing this band. Love the singing and melody of the guitar 🎸
I’ve listened to this song probably 100 times in the 48 hours I’ve found it. Amazing. 😍😍😍😍
Brittney is my METAL QUEEN!!! Words cannot express how much I love this band.
I just saw this awesome band play live last night bestfuckin show ever dude! Come back to Atlanta ASAP unleash the archers
The intonation of 'Apex' around 7:13 gave me a flashback to the outro of Moonlight from King Diamond's The Spider's Lullabye
