I do feel like you missed out on talking about the OG goats comp, Doom Goats, AKA goats but with Doomfist, yes the meta known for killing DPS started with a DPS being important to the comp, go figure. 1 of the MANY reasons Bridgette was so strong was that she could take out anyone trying to get into the backlines fairly quickly, thanks to shield bash, her shield in general, and good damage, which helped her keep the other supports safe and kept the goats train rolling, and then Doomfist rears his head. He was a 1 shot king, killing anyone with 250 HP or less pretty easily and could ignore any form or shield/barrier, and so his goal during that meta was simple, get into the backlines, kill the healers quick, and get out to help the team with the tanks. and if he DID get hit with shield bash, he could still escape fairly quickly and could try again later. The comp was genuinely strong but after a while it was clear that the 3 healers comp was just a little bit better and took a lot less work than doom goats did since the comp sorta relied on the Doomfist being good enough to snuff out the healers and get out effectively.
I just remembered that Support players were rejoicing that she hard countered dive comps and were abusing Brigitte to climb, to the point where Gold players the season prior were in masters the next just by one tricking her. She's often considered as "game breaking", because she defines what a support should be, and why other supports (minus Lucio) dont seem as fun to play, especially with/against DPS. Instead of choosing whether to heal or damage someone, she does both at the same time (plus damage mitigation) so providing damage isn't preventing teammates from getting healed. This makes her and Lucio less of enablers (like Mercy and Lifeweaver), and less of Flex Supports (like everybody else). They try to make other characters provide that same input as well (Ana, Bap, Illari, Moira, Juno, Zen), but they are not as consistent, or team-centered as Brig or Lucio.

Brigitte wasn't the first support to break Overwatch. *Ana was.* Before Ana, supports had ZERO non-ult burst healing. The lack of burst heals allowed tanks to be tanky af and the genearal ttk (time to kill) across the roster to be on the slower, brawlier side; without anyone being straight-up immortal (not even if they had a pocket healer and/or multiple healers on them). Then Ana and her Biotic Grenade ruined all that. Her overloaded 'nade triggered a neverending cascade of unfun tank nerfs (bc bionade made tanks "too survivable") and general powercreep that's made combat so much faster, so much more _punishing_ that it's stopped being fun or accessible to new players. It's because of ANA that every support after her has "needed" to have some form of burst healing and/or immortaility, because the devs basically redesigned _the entire game_ around bionade's insane burst healing instead of nerfing/reworking the obviously game-breaking ability.
Oh, I remember. Day 1 overwatch player who really enjoyed the base game, but it basically got worse with every character blizzard added, and brig was the final straw.
No she was worse than sombra by a wide margin. Brig determined a whole comp scene and then got the role lock put in place. SHe could brawl reaper/mei etc, countered sombra and tracer hard, and could legitimately solo tanks. Sombra can absolutely ruin a players day and losing abilities is a bad feature, but she was never as game breaking as a support that was better than most dps.

They literally could of just turned her into a dps and a lot of the crying woulda stopped
Became a brig main because of her history lol.. (herstory)
I quit for a while during goats, Brig ruined the game just because the devs wanted strong women in the game. Damn politics
I mean, they made JQ and she’s the most fun and balanced OW2 tank
@@hillwoop9101 Good, but we're talking about Brigitte here, focus dude
Surely this is satire
@@fredmertz8191 They literally said it, were you even alive when Brig came out?
@@PatrickArcato lol yes I was
Nowhere near as bad as sombra, people leaving the game because sombra
No she was worse than sombra by a wide margin. Brig determined a whole comp scene and then got the role lock put in place. SHe could brawl reaper/mei etc, countered sombra and tracer hard, and could legitimately solo tanks.
Sombra can absolutely ruin a players day and losing abilities is a bad feature, but she was never as game breaking as a support that was better than most dps.
@@Ram-lo1ji yeah that's true, I'm remembering the goat days now
