- Just thought I would jump on the Christmas Tree Ornament bandwagon. I didn't really plan anything, just went with the flow and came up with two tree-hangers in the Shady Acres style. OK, it was kinda fun!

I have a bird garden, a bunch of different feeders. I love birds! I put a lot of bird ornaments on my Christmas tree. Those ornaments are adorable!
That is awesome! I feed the birds here, too. It's fun watching the different varieties coming and going in the spring and fall. 😊
Love the birdhouse, but the highlight for me was meeting the Christmas cat :)

For what it's worth I think the mushroom should have been left NATURAL with some small brown spots on the top.

Oh what a beautiful cat!!! Two wonderful things from you...1st I love the bird feeder and the hummingbird feeder; 2nd Such a handsome cat (furbaby)!!! Obviously I'm a cat lady. My sweet Lucy Mae passed away last year but we had 13 marvelous years together. She was a sweet little furbaby.
It's unusual for him to come into the shop. He doesn't like the noises. 😊

Aminita! Next one red top, white sprinkles (sawdust flecks?), white stem with small bulb at bottom. They grow here. Very poisonous, but usually seen in fairy tales. Fun turnings. You can do the bark tree if you leave all branch rings same diameter. Make more this size and a tree to hang them on! Merry Christmas, Phil!

I've made several mushroom bottle stoppers and they are quite popular. With a 1/16" parting tool with tapered tip from Carter and son, I make undercuts under the cap (not for boletes, of course), which adds a bit of realism and removes weight. Also made pagoda shapes that way and stylized pine trees.
Cool, Daniel! I didn't have a mushroom in mind until I did it so did not do any planning. I may make a larger one in the future and will likely use some of your ideas.

The first one was not far off from looking like a thread spool at first. So I got an idea and look up some pictures of vintage and oversized wooden thread spools. Maybe a good idea. I even saw one very oversized spool for a small table.

For the mishroom, I would have put white spots on the top and left the stalk natural, but cute quicky projects. It would be interesting to see a full size birdhouse turned.
