Did everything to perfection thinking "this is some bullshit." Then, it happened. I stood in front the stairs, behind them, as time stood still. As I gazed upon their backs, I remembered what it felt like to wake up on Christmas morning. Then, as they suddenly turned to face me and life flashed before my eyes, I took a look at my 2% life bar and empty bottle of estus and laughed. Light then engulfed my TV screen and I was back at my last bonfire, feeling ever so suicidal.

For anyone trying to do this using a great bow after every shot take a little shuffle forward. If you don’t you’ll back onto the steps and they’ll turn around found this out the hardway, also aim for just off to the left of the younger princes head I put one straight in his back and he turned around. Thanks for the video made the fight way easier
if you stand still when you enter the boss room then you can manual aim and get a load of free hits off as he tries to teleport to you but, as long as you haven't taken any steps since crossing the fog door, he teleports to the exact spot he's already on. So you get to pot shot the guy as he crawls slowly towards you. Also do not stand ON the stairs, you want to stand at the FOOT of the stairs in the middle of the red carpet.
Lots of people have succeeded with this strategy, but there are some common errors others are making that is preventing the cheese from working. 1) You HAVE to defeat Lorian in phase one in the middle of the carpet just below the stairs. You CANNOT be on the stairs or this will fail. 2) Use standard or wood arrows (no large arrows). 3) You need to be careful with Lothric's hitbox. From the position I had in the video, lock on was fine. Otherwise, I recommend shooting him in the head/neck. GL!

It's not working for me. ***EDIT: I CAN GET IT TO WORK. YOU NEED TO NOT TOUCH THE STAIRS. Other videos say you need to stand on the stairs, but if you do they automatically turn on you. The concept is for you to be behind their spawn far enough you can attack them, but not touching the first stair. I did it, used pestilent must, but unfortunately I killed big brother first, didn't swap lighter gear, and the boys caught me fat tolling and dummied me. Advice: use pestilent mist, and if little brother goes to rez, smash him asap.
For context, i am someone that even struggles with phase one after about 40 minutes i managed to pull this off and decided to drink an estus to heal up because i wasnt comfortable, then that big guy just turns around and oneshots me
It still works but anyone who is having trouble make SURE you kill him near the stairs, flat surface on the carpet, not on the stairs or it won't work. Exactly where he killed him in the vid. Just tried this for fun.
I figured out that at the first phase of the battle u can’t use a sword cause if you use a sword on Lorian after u take away the last of his health, the next phase the sword animation will still go on and hit lorian which will cause him to start fighting you. So guys try to use a bow
2/21/‘24 still works. Super helpful to know only you have to be in the right spot on the stairs, he can die anywhere in the room as long as you’re in position
As of Jan 23 2021 this still works like a gem! Tried it once and it didn't work so I was like wtf. Did it a second time and he wasn't even on the steps he was close to them tho and I was standing mid way up the steps and it worked. I ended up being almost directly behind them and was like ooohhhhh shit but it worked just fine
The cheese does work but I kept alerting the boss somehow. Ended up killing it legit which feels better anyway since it's my first playthrough. melee and a ranged weapon was what did the job. I used Flamberge and bow; the bow really made all the difference!
Looks like you can trigger it without lorian next to the stairs. You still have to be there and he might still have to be on the carpet, but it worked while he was in the center of the room.

I tried 5-6 times but they turned around and I failed again and again. Finally I got them. Here is my experience: 1. I did not move even one step 2. I used composite bow with 99 normal arrows 3. I didnt lock them I just focused his head. So it worked! Thanks.
I am playing first time, offline as well, as a sorcerer. I could not get past the second round. I did this method using persistent mist and it worked to get backpack bros health down (big bro dies first so it ends the cheese). I struggled still because I was running out of FP. The back pack brother had a little life left after the cheese and they both were chasing after me towards the end. I ran out of blue Estrus and only had one shot left in me. I accidentally let out a Persistent mist instead of a crystal soul. Shit! He runs towards me, through the mist....baby bro chokes and dies. I win by stroke of luck. - March 2021

Still works. It's important you are not on the steps. It failed for me 3 tries in a row because I thought he had to be at the foot of the carpet. Turns out, I just had to be at the foot and NOT on the steps.
This started to work perfectly for me the first time, but I accidently swung my sword and ruined it. The seventh time, I had it right, but it only partially worked. I had his health about halfway down, but then he turned around. I had to finish the rest of the fight on my own. But thank you so much. I had tried 20 times on my own and it was growing frustrating...
Can confirm cheese still works 14/03/2022. Tips : you have to be on the carpet aswell, back turned to stairs, Mae sure you are not on the stairs. Boss needs to be on carpet in middle of room. Use standard arrows and aim for lothrics neck. Thank you so fudging much mc raptor. Almost gave up on this boss, the hardest in the 3 non DLC dark souls imo. Oh yeah and had no friends to summon/offline.... So.... No chance. Cheers buddy.
I can confirm in April of 2022 it still works. It is incredibly finnicky and you may mess it up a few times, but the first phase is so easy to use a bow in that it is no big deal. You control your character so just stand EXACTLY where Raptor is. On the floor, on the carpet, as close to the stairs as possible without being on them. I got it to work and Lorian wasn't on the carpet. Just anywhere on the stairs. Because he can teleport to a lot of places its definitely useful to know that any of the spots on the stairs work as long as he hasn't moved off yet. Honestly the hardest part of this boss is the dumb elevator shortcut that you need to step onto to recall as the lever only works if there is no platform.
I can get to the part where they don’t notice me, however right as soon as i shoot an arrow at backpack bro the two of them turn around and the fight is on. I’m using a long bow and regular arrows. I tried shooting him in the ass in the head in the back and nothing seems to work. Any help?? This is the only boss I can’t beat and it’s getting extremely frustrating.
Still works. Took me a couple tries but you have to position yourselves at the perfect spot in front of the stairs or it won't work. I hate cheesing bosses, but after 2 days my morale was pretty toasted. Top notch content
It's all about where you finish off Lorian in phase one. You need to defeat him at the bottom of the carpeted stairs, as shown in the video. If you're off the carpet, or too far forward (or actually on the stairs), it won't work.
@@hassanalomary8158 I got it to work after enough tries. You have to be behind him but not on the stairs. And shoot just the edge of the little guys head so it doesn't agro the big dude
I killed lorian and thinking this was an easy fight, then little guy pops up....one week later i watched this and finally progressed the game! Thank you!! ( tip: don't move when you kill lorian, if you do he turns en the fight continues as normal. Just aim and shoot the little guy)
Thank you for this! This still works as of May 2021. It worked on my 9th attempt and I was beginning to think it wasn't going to happen as di*k and di*kier kept turning around. Where I was going wrong was, like you said in the video, make sure you are at the bottom of the stairs, I was always on the stairs when I killed Lorian and this just made them turn around. I would like to point out not making any noise once they are turned, as I ran to position myself to shoot Lothric and they turned, but walking is fine. And, finally, when I shot "backpack bro" in the butt, they also turned, I found shooting at his head worked. Many thanks, you're awesome!
THANK YOU! This still works (as the text says). I had some initial struggles with the boss still turning around before i even did anything, but I think it was because I wasn't quite precise enough in the spot. I was able to do this twice though. The first time I screwed up by accidentally swinging my sword, lunging myself forward and putting myself perhaps too close to him. I got a few free bow shots in, then he turned around. The second time, it was exactly as in the video though. I think if you struggle, be sure you are at the base of the stairs (on the same side as in the video, of course), and so is the boss, and right in the middle. I found if I was on the stairs a bit, or to the side too much, it wasn't working. I'm not sure exactly what needs to really be done here, but to avoid any problems, try and kill the boss when he's right below the stairs, centered on the carpet, and you're approx in that same spot as him.. just like in the vid.
I am getting to the point where they don't see me but whenever I use the arrows either they attack me immediately or a couple of shots in and they obliterate me :-/
Have to make sure you're using the right arrows (wood or standard) and that you're not hitting the small prince in the wrong spot. I go over where it's safe to fire at them in the video. If they immediately turn, it's usually because you ended phase 1 in the wrong spot on the carpet.
I tried it today and it wouldn’t work for me. As soon as I shot Lothric one time they turned around. I tried 3 times and it did the same thing every time. Using a plain bow and arrows, maybe someone could check again could be I’m doing it wrong.

Holy sh!t...I finally did it! It took about 10 tries to get him in the right spot but when I finally got him to not see me in the second stage my hands were shaking so bad I thought I was going to hit the wrong button and screw it up.
Still works July 16th 2021. Also aim for his brother on his back head. This still works!!! And bring alot of arrows. this boss is going down as top 5 bosses of all time ruthlessnes in my book. With out this cheese. They teleport and heals. And I thought the nameless King was ruff.
Still works in April 2022! Got them to de-aggro on the first try, but I got freaked out with how close they were to me when the second phase started that I took a couple steps back onto the stairs causing them to take notice and murder me within seconds. Took me a few more tries to get it to work again. I use a fully upgraded Black Bow of Pharos for most of the regular enemies that I’m too scared to fight close up, but I never realized how well a bow could work in a boss battle until this video. Thanks so much!
It works under the following conditions: Stand in the middle just before the stairs. Use the simple wooden arrows that you can buy from the merchant on the left past the blacksmith down the stairs. Use a simple bow! Shoot the son's butt. Wear the ring that enhances firepower at full scale for life!
Very skeptical after a couple tries and failing... but you must be centered at the bottom of the stairs. It’s okay if you’re a little closer to where they appear but bottom of the stairs somewhere on the carpet
These dudes made me quit the game off and on and off and on. I had not really any trouble at all with any other did DS armory second try, abyss watchers 3rd, dancer second try etc these dudes just tough as hell for me thanks for this I’ll try it out
Thanks a lot, I have done it normally but could not as SL1. It worked for me until phase 2. However, I could not shoot him in the butt as described as several attempts always lead to aggro. The key was not locking on and shooting Lothrics head as its over the left shoulder of Lorian. I suspect this works well because no part of Lorian is behind it and thus arrows can't pass through Lothric and hit Lorian. It does not matter if you miss everything so be cautious. You can move around on the carpet in phase 2 to reposition and switch weapons.
I love coming to check cheese after I beat the boss the hard way. This was my first real wall in DS3, followed by Nameless king. I’m happy I was able to beat them without cheese but glad there’s a way to cheese em.
Thank you McRaptor, I should have known you have a video on this. I can confirm that your method works with a (heavy) crossbow as well (after I was able to correctly identify the body of Lothric on the back of his 'dear' brother). The corresponding crossbow method is great for SL1 and I by no means regret to have used the cheese, because I hate bosses who can teleport.

As of 25/7/2022 this still works. You have to stand in the middle of the carpet below the steps for this to work, the boss didn't have to be to close for me to trigger the cheese. Do not move once phase two starts and good news for magic staff users it works locking on to the younger Prince and destroy him with great heavy soul arrows.
@@themarin1992 you might have already beaten him by now but if you have not I remember that you have to make sure your locked on to the brother who hangs of his back. The soul arrows I used would hit him and not trigger the cheese to be broken. I also remember that once I triggered the cheese but moved my character with the left analogue stick a bit and the cheese was broken. So you have to not touch the left analogue stick once cheese is successful. But honestly it was a while ago so my memory is not 100% sure if the exact details.
I keep lining it up which looks perfect but he is still aggressive towards me when it goes into phase two without touching him. Can anyone help? I've tried it about 5 times.
I find it useful to finish him off on the first stage with throwing knifes because from my experience it doesnt alert them in the first part of the second stage
Holly he’ll it finally worked!! I beat him regularly (couldn’t get the smoky door trick to work) and then I bought 100 arrows at the fire link shrink before and it definitely worked. Just have to make sure you are also on the carpet (not stairs) and in the middle and then don’t move when you shoot the arrows. Make sure you’re locked on cause it didn’t work for me if not. SO happy! Thought when I killed the guy on the back that I’d have to fight the other guy but NOPE! What a nice surprise and an AMAZING tip. Thank you thank you thank you! :)
If you used a standard or wood arrow it should have worked. Locking on doesn't always work. If you target the small prince's butt, you're usually in the clear. Also, be sure you don't move in the phase transition and ensure that you're at the bottom of the carpet, just below the stairs when you do the final attack.

FYI, I have tried this many times without success and can confirm the following: if you kill Lorian in the first phase, and then lock on to Lothric when they respawn in the second phase and start firing arrows, Lorian will turn at the third or fourth arrow. I have killed him about 5 times at just the right spot so they don't start out agro in the second phase. I'm using a short bow and wood arrows. I'll try agro without locking on and see if results differ.
Got it to work this morning by shooting the arrows at Lothric's head, his neck actually. Maybe it's because his head is the only spot that isn't "attached" to Lorian's body, so Lorian doesn't feel the arrows? Not sure. But it did work. Was fun trying to get it to work. Thanks again McRaptor!
i cant do this, ive counted how many times ive tried with armor on to see if it made the difference, i tried 13 times before giving up on your method, and another 8 tries naked. it just doesnt work for me. the elder brother always noticed me, doesnt matter where i stand, or what bow and armor combo i have, they always instantly notice me. ALWAYS
Confirmed as of August 2022 still works. After dying 5x I saw this video and was shocked after phase 1 they were just standing there. I gave them the “use fingers, but hole”. 😛
Don't know if this'll get seen, but I have a problem where I'll get in the spot, they won't see me, I'll shoot some arrows... shoot some more, and then they'll randomly aggro onto me. I'm using a crossbow, so idk if that stops it from working, but I was able to exhaust my supply of bolts the first time I did it, then proceeded to die when I tried to finish them off. I've now bought more bolts (Enough to kill them) but it stops working partway through.
I’ve tried this a billion times with him being frozen in place, this doesn’t work, literally every arrow I shoot at him causes them to agro, with different bows. Any help?

My guess is you're on the wrong spot of the carpet. See 1) above.

Because you moved, i had the same issue. When you kill him skip the cutscene and dont move! Just aim and shoot.

Still works. It's important you are not on the steps. It failed for me 3 tries in a row because I thought he had to be at the foot of the carpet. Turns out, I just had to be at the foot and NOT on the steps.

This started to work perfectly for me the first time, but I accidently swung my sword and ruined it. The seventh time, I had it right, but it only partially worked. I had his health about halfway down, but then he turned around. I had to finish the rest of the fight on my own. But thank you so much. I had tried 20 times on my own and it was growing frustrating...
Can confirm cheese still works 14/03/2022. Tips : you have to be on the carpet aswell, back turned to stairs, Mae sure you are not on the stairs. Boss needs to be on carpet in middle of room. Use standard arrows and aim for lothrics neck.

I can confirm in April of 2022 it still works. It is incredibly finnicky and you may mess it up a few times, but the first phase is so easy to use a bow in that it is no big deal. You control your character so just stand EXACTLY where Raptor is. On the floor, on the carpet, as close to the stairs as possible without being on them. I got it to work and Lorian wasn't on the carpet. Just anywhere on the stairs. Because he can teleport to a lot of places its definitely useful to know that any of the spots on the stairs work as long as he hasn't moved off yet.
Honestly the hardest part of this boss is the dumb elevator shortcut that you need to step onto to recall as the lever only works if there is no platform.

I can get to the part where they don’t notice me, however right as soon as i shoot an arrow at backpack bro the two of them turn around and the fight is on. I’m using a long bow and regular arrows. I tried shooting him in the ass in the head in the back and nothing seems to work. Any help?? This is the only boss I can’t beat and it’s getting extremely frustrating.

It's all about where you finish off Lorian in phase one. You need to defeat him at the bottom of the carpeted stairs, as shown in the video. If you're off the carpet, or too far forward (or actually on the stairs), it won't work.

works, did it on 27/07/2020. Sadly after around 40 bolts, I was at their half health and they turned back to finish me. I uninstalled the game after

I killed lorian and thinking this was an easy fight, then little guy pops up....one week later i watched this and finally progressed the game! Thank you!! ( tip: don't move when you kill lorian, if you do he turns en the fight continues as normal. Just aim and shoot the little guy)

Thank you for this! This still works as of May 2021. It worked on my 9th attempt and I was beginning to think it wasn't going to happen as di*k and di*kier kept turning around. Where I was going wrong was, like you said in the video, make sure you are at the bottom of the stairs, I was always on the stairs when I killed Lorian and this just made them turn around. I would like to point out not making any noise once they are turned, as I ran to position myself to shoot Lothric and they turned, but walking is fine. And, finally, when I shot "backpack bro" in the butt, they also turned, I found shooting at his head worked. Many thanks, you're awesome!
THANK YOU! This still works (as the text says). I had some initial struggles with the boss still turning around before i even did anything, but I think it was because I wasn't quite precise enough in the spot. I was able to do this twice though. The first time I screwed up by accidentally swinging my sword, lunging myself forward and putting myself perhaps too close to him. I got a few free bow shots in, then he turned around. The second time, it was exactly as in the video though. I think if you struggle, be sure you are at the base of the stairs (on the same side as in the video, of course), and so is the boss, and right in the middle. I found if I was on the stairs a bit, or to the side too much, it wasn't working. I'm not sure exactly what needs to really be done here, but to avoid any problems, try and kill the boss when he's right below the stairs, centered on the carpet, and you're approx in that same spot as him.. just like in the vid.

Have to make sure you're using the right arrows (wood or standard) and that you're not hitting the small prince in the wrong spot. I go over where it's safe to fire at them in the video. If they immediately turn, it's usually because you ended phase 1 in the wrong spot on the carpet.
@@McRaptor yeah they turned immediately but the 2nd time i got like 4 shots in and during the fifth shot (at the same place) they turned again
I tried it today and it wouldn’t work for me. As soon as I shot Lothric one time they turned around. I tried 3 times and it did the same thing every time. Using a plain bow and arrows, maybe someone could check again could be I’m doing it wrong.

Holy sh!t...I finally did it! It took about 10 tries to get him in the right spot but when I finally got him to not see me in the second stage my hands were shaking so bad I thought I was going to hit the wrong button and screw it up.

this boss is going down as top 5 bosses of all time ruthlessnes in my book. With out this cheese. They teleport and heals. And I thought the nameless King was ruff.
Still works in April 2022! Got them to de-aggro on the first try, but I got freaked out with how close they were to me when the second phase started that I took a couple steps back onto the stairs causing them to take notice and murder me within seconds. Took me a few more tries to get it to work again. I use a fully upgraded Black Bow of Pharos for most of the regular enemies that I’m too scared to fight close up, but I never realized how well a bow could work in a boss battle until this video. Thanks so much!

The glitch still works, I just did it. It's extremely finicky, though. After trying it like25 times, it worked. Good luck.
It works under the following conditions: Stand in the middle just before the stairs. Use the simple wooden arrows that you can buy from the merchant on the left past the blacksmith down the stairs. Use a simple bow! Shoot the son's butt. Wear the ring that enhances firepower at full scale for life!

Thanks a lot, I have done it normally but could not as SL1. It worked for me until phase 2. However, I could not shoot him in the butt as described as several attempts always lead to aggro. The key was not locking on and shooting Lothrics head as its over the left shoulder of Lorian. I suspect this works well because no part of Lorian is behind it and thus arrows can't pass through Lothric and hit Lorian. It does not matter if you miss everything so be cautious. You can move around on the carpet in phase 2 to reposition and switch weapons.

This was my first real wall in DS3, followed by Nameless king. I’m happy I was able to beat them without cheese but glad there’s a way to cheese em.
It relieves me that a lot of people had trouble with these dudes not just me. The closest I got was my first ever attempt DS seems to do that alot

Thank you McRaptor, I should have known you have a video on this. I can confirm that your method works with a (heavy) crossbow as well (after I was able to correctly identify the body of Lothric on the back of his 'dear' brother). The corresponding crossbow method is great for SL1 and I by no means regret to have used the cheese, because I hate bosses who can teleport.
!You need a normal bow to do this because the greatbow moves you a bit when u use it and you shouldn't move at all !
this made me buy all of Orbeck's spells just to get him as summon, altho i'm not a sorcerer. Will try this one later, hopefully it still works.

As of 25/7/2022 this still works. You have to stand in the middle of the carpet below the steps for this to work, the boss didn't have to be to close for me to trigger the cheese. Do not move once phase two starts and good news for magic staff users it works locking on to the younger Prince and destroy him with great heavy soul arrows.

@@themarin1992 you might have already beaten him by now but if you have not I remember that you have to make sure your locked on to the brother who hangs of his back. The soul arrows I used would hit him and not trigger the cheese to be broken. I also remember that once I triggered the cheese but moved my character with the left analogue stick a bit and the cheese was broken. So you have to not touch the left analogue stick once cheese is successful. But honestly it was a while ago so my memory is not 100% sure if the exact details.

I find it useful to finish him off on the first stage with throwing knifes because from my experience it doesnt alert them in the first part of the second stage

Holly he’ll it finally worked!! I beat him regularly (couldn’t get the smoky door trick to work) and then I bought 100 arrows at the fire link shrink before and it definitely worked. Just have to make sure you are also on the carpet (not stairs) and in the middle and then don’t move when you shoot the arrows. Make sure you’re locked on cause it didn’t work for me if not. SO happy! Thought when I killed the guy on the back that I’d have to fight the other guy but NOPE! What a nice surprise and an AMAZING tip. Thank you thank you thank you! :)
I get to the second phase with combined boss. Fire a basic arrow into the back of the elder...and the turn and attack. Advice?
If you used a standard or wood arrow it should have worked. Locking on doesn't always work. If you target the small prince's butt, you're usually in the clear. Also, be sure you don't move in the phase transition and ensure that you're at the bottom of the carpet, just below the stairs when you do the final attack.
Thanks for the video McRaptor. FYI, I have tried this many times without success and can confirm the following: if you kill Lorian in the first phase, and then lock on to Lothric when they respawn in the second phase and start firing arrows, Lorian will turn at the third or fourth arrow. I have killed him about 5 times at just the right spot so they don't start out agro in the second phase. I'm using a short bow and wood arrows. I'll try agro without locking on and see if results differ.
Tried this morning and shot arrows into Lothric's butt (not locked on). Lorian turned after 8 arrows.
Got it to work this morning by shooting the arrows at Lothric's head, his neck actually. Maybe it's because his head is the only spot that isn't "attached" to Lorian's body, so Lorian doesn't feel the arrows? Not sure. But it did work. Was fun trying to get it to work. Thanks again McRaptor!

i cant do this, ive counted how many times ive tried with armor on to see if it made the difference, i tried 13 times before giving up on your method, and another 8 tries naked. it just doesnt work for me. the elder brother always noticed me, doesnt matter where i stand, or what bow and armor combo i have, they always instantly notice me. ALWAYS

Confirmed as of August 2022 still works. After dying 5x I saw this video and was shocked after phase 1 they were just standing there. I gave them the “use fingers, but hole”. 😛

Don't know if this'll get seen, but I have a problem where I'll get in the spot, they won't see me, I'll shoot some arrows... shoot some more, and then they'll randomly aggro onto me. I'm using a crossbow, so idk if that stops it from working, but I was able to exhaust my supply of bolts the first time I did it, then proceeded to die when I tried to finish them off. I've now bought more bolts (Enough to kill them) but it stops working partway through.
