Guides don’t typically wear out by themselves, if you keep up with maintenance. I replaced valve stem seals this last October on my 5.3 LS. Valve stems seals were all kinds of worn out but the guides/valves had zero play to them, all still tight within spec. this is on a 300,000 mile, almost 20 year old motor as well.

@@damiann4734 it’s device socket ranch can do twisting for you and tools comes with accessories attachments like measuring or flash light with screw driver etc. point is the things you wish to imagine on one tool is unimaginable of how is existence created by factories brands.
Would there be enough clearance, if the piston is at bottom dead center, that the valve could actually fall into the cylinder once the retainer on the valve spring is removed?? Asking for a friend lmao. That would be such a nightmare?
Always use a plastic straw for replacing stem seal

Give the valve stem a tap with a hammer to make sure the collets are seated.Better to have them come out before you start the engine.
That would make it a lot easier

This is a universal tool FORCE 62105. You need to look at your engine. Our fastening fits along the edges of the cylinder head.
If the seals are leaking then the guide is worn out

I used a deep socket and hammer to make sure mine sat flush to the head, hurt my brain to see you putting the spring on after just placing the seal.
I done this many time trust me it wont work missfire and white smoke still happen. Why i done this? Simple for those want a cheap fix

If it's interference just rotate cylinder all the way up. Or you can also use a leak down tester to fill the cylinder with air to hold it up.
