- Headed out to enjoy the storm, however one of my camera's didn't fair to well and has decided to bite the dust. The Lumix G7 is dead. Long live the Lumix G7 :(
Hope you enjoy watching this video it sure was fun making it and being able to enjoy the stormy weather, See you all in the next video.
Sandy
Steak and veggies, San Miguel, strong coffee and a night in the tent listening to the rain patter on the canvas, sounds like heaven :-)
I went for a walk, in a rainy wet wood. Passed some trees, as you should. I spied a bloke, sat in a Tepee, drinking beer and talking to himself. I thought, that poor bloke, must be off his shelf. I carried on walking until the end, then I realized, it was Sandy, my TH-cam friend 📹.
I love the sound of rain on a tent or canvus.
LOL Nice one Hurley:)
Cycling and camping out is just awesome. Do it all the time out here in Australia. Never get tired of it for sure. Love you camp out videos mate. Well done.
Love your laid back and relaxed videos. And you're a biker. Man after my own heart. Keep 'em coming.
Sandy, it was therapy for me also. Watched it before settling down for sleep and it really relaxed me. Ta.
That sound of heavy rain on the tarp is total relaxation. Really enjoy these solo wild camps Sandy 😉👍
I'll try and do a few more when the weather turns a bit wild:)
Getting the eye mended has given you the ability to find joy in life again. Glad to see you happy again!
Yes! Thank you Geeza:)
You can’t beat listening to the sound of the rain. 👍
I bet it even sounds nice on the roof of the little red camper too:)
I have been looking forward to more wild camp videos. Thanks a lot, really enjoyed this one!
Thanks Bjorn, it is good to get out into nature. Next year I hope to visit Norway and travel to the NordKapp on the motorbike, Maybe I'll look you up on the way:)
@@WiltshireMan That would be awesome. I am in the south, but there's a lot of scenery to explore here as well!
@@BjornAndreasBull-Hansen I still have your phone number saved on my phone from when you visited Dartmoor, so if that number is still valid I may call you on that and let you know my plans. Approximate dates are July 2022 so still some time away
@@WiltshireMan I want to meet you guys as well ;)
The rain and shelter thereof, great sleeping conditions.
It’s good to see you are enjoying your camping adventures Sandy…. It helps to keep you fit Iam sure.
you are awesome love the woofers stay safe stay strong say hi to Mrs Wiltshire Man
best regards Martin King
I had my welli's on watching this cold and damp video, Sandy you make very interesting and enjoyable videos you must have a fire in your body to enable you to do this kind of camping.
I’m surprised you didn’t pass out when you was blowing that mat up Mr W. Great video again, thank you 👍
Good to see you off the motorcycle and in the woods again.
Looks like a nice quiet place to relax. Weather has turned to perfect here and I will be heading to the Cumberland River for some trout fishing. I might just take a tent this time and leave the RV at home. You're a great inspiration Sandy.
I wish I had a proper RV Jim, must be a nice thing to own and use
@@WiltshireMan There are benefits to having it but the cost to benefit ratio is high. I have always wanted one and now I am on my second one. I think I would use it more if I rented a spot for it for the entire season. Maybe that option will be available again in 2022.
Nothing like the sound of rain on the tent to lull you off to sleep, good to see you had 'plenty' of food. 😉
Always "Plenty" Si. Got Cheese, Got bread, Got Plenty:)
There is something special being in a tent when it is shite weather, especially if the rain stays outside of it.
I find your camping videos very peaceful and calming.
A meal fit for a king only person i know who enjoys camping in the rain 👍
Life’s simple pleasures , thank you for sharing .
It's funny how being in the rain is so relaxing, nice camp 🏕
Its the best sound Paul, cant beat some rain
Cheers for the heads up, safe journey to Wales, look forward to seeing your film of the trip.
Enjoyed the video, steak and roast veg under canvas on a cold, wet, stormy night, brilliant.
The morning is beautiful! What a perfect way to end a wonderful camping night. 😃
Rain is one of the most soothing sounds that nature has to offer, especially when you are tucked inside a shelter with a good roof. Your videos with your foul weather camping and exploring definitely serve as an inspiration to us all not to let inclimate weather prevent us from enjoying the outdoors. Thanks for sharing this relaxing experience with us Sandy. See you on the next one.
Thanks Terry I love the inclement conditions especially when I can stay warm and cosy:)
Totally agree mate 👍 sandy does make us some Quality videos 🥰
@@wiggbuttpaddleboat1750 He sure does.
I had such a gas burner.
They do make a lot of racket,
but indeed, in the colder days propane can't handle it.
Good therapy, just even watching this 👍
If you do use propane you can get a burner which has a preheater tube then its possible to invert the gas canister (only on stoves with preheaters and fuel feed hoses) then the burner will take liquid propane. It turns to gas as it hits the preheater.
Lashing it down we say up north not lagging lol.great video mate keep them coming 👍
The sound of rain on canvas does wonders for my insomnia - thanks Sandy
I enjoy your videos as they are very relaxing to watch.
Lovely vlog Sandy! We live in a Luton box van, and love the sound of Rain on the roof, and if we get strong winds, it rocks the van and is very relaxing 👍
I can just imagine how soothing the sound of the rain and the rocking motion of the van is during a storm :)
Nice one Sandy, the grub looks so good 😇.
very nice video Sandy ,thanks for scharing👍
Just what i needed Sandy thanks 👍
Nothing more therapeutic than rain on canvas, very relaxing video. I’m not sure that I’d have a naked flame in a tent though.
Yeah be better to put some clothes on it 😄😄
Love the rain when camping.
Thanks Paul I always enjoy a nice rainy camp
Well, Happy Birthday. My 60th passed 2 months back. Good to see you in that forest. That storm is supposed to hit us also but probably worse north of us.
Stay safe and healthy my friend!
60 for me next birthday Dan, I'll try not to let age beat me down:). A good friend of mine turned 60 a few years ago and became very miserable for a few months, now he's in his mid 70's and quite cheerful:)
Lovely wild camp video. 👏👏👏 tnx es 73s
Ahh what a real relaxing camp Sandy. Peaceful sounds of a rain storm, love it. Also loving the stove and the food. Top camp mate 👍
Hi ANt, Glad ou enjoyed the vid mate. I've just got a hot tent and new stove so will be doing some nice winter camping soon. I saw your vid where the tent collapsed onto the stove so will make sure I use the pole inside and not the loop
@@WiltshireMan brilliant mate, as you probably know I'm a massive fan of winter camp and the hot tent. I'll be looking forward to see your set up pal.
Most definitely mate, the loop is very dangerous Sandy. I have used it since then with the golf ball inside and then tied up over the tree limb, that worked a treat pal 👍
Happy Birthday, Sandy. If it makes you feel any better, I have a Trangia still in the box as well. I'd like to be able to cook a steak in my tent, but I'd be visited in the night by a large hairy beast. 🐻🙂👍
Ah we have no bears or wolves over here Brian.
Its always therapeutic to see you out under the leaves and rain Sandy, and a good choice of San Migel, nice hop after taste. Really enjoy the pace of your film, clearly as did you. Until next time, be well. Atb. Harry
Thanks Harry, wishing you all the best too
I love a little rain.
And you blowing up your mattress.
Nice, like the good old days.
Everybody is in need of a therapy for the body and soul.
Cheers Jack.
Excellent upload Sandy 👌🏻
Did you ever try the Stormin Stove system alcohol stove? It’s a thin metal cone that encloses the alcohol burner and supports the pot. I believe the man in the UK that made them passed away. The Caldera cone is similar and sold in the US by Trail Designs.
I've never tried one but I believe it is one of the best systems out there for lightweight and fuel efficiency
Hi sandy. Another lovely relaxing solo
Camp. Thank you for taking us along
Old dave
Glad you enjoyed it Dave
Great to see you out about in nature. it's lovely time of year for wild camping.🍄⛺☀
Another enjoyable video. Yes protecting yourself from Ticks is a good idea. I got bitten by one but didn't know that at the time but got very unwell until Lyme's disease set in. It's taken me 3 years now to recover.
Keep well. Bye Stuart 😊🔆
In Sicily my aunt was bitten and once side of her face drooped maybe paralysed it was just temporary but yeah those things can be nasty
Great video bro, the old disappearing trick 99 that was smart. All the best
Nice little outing Sandy, I used to have the same shelter and stood up really well to some very wet and windy nights on Dartmoor, like all those silnylon jobs it did benefit from seam sealing. I also have a mini trangia and used the little frying pan for years, thanks for posting.
Thanks Andy, I think my hexpeak could do with some seam sealing. Onetigris have a similar design called the iron wall which in my opinion is a little better made
good see you back out in the tent keep up the good vids lee
Great video always a pleasure to watch….
Such a relaxing watch and camp for you. Love the sound of rain, normally with a large whisky :-) Interested to know who makes those coffee brew bags? The eye is looking good. Stay Safe.
Good health to you Sir.
Thanks Ade
A great camp Sandy, definitely something I love being tucked up in my sleeping bag with the sound of the rain on the canvas above my head. Best 73s
I love a rain camp mate ,
Thankyou for uploading, I am in my hammock in the wet woodland..
PS , DONT TELL MY BOSS 🤣🤣
Shhh I'll keep quiet Dan. Hope you are enjoying a nice camp, I'll check out your channel later to see:)
Hi Sandy another great video, I do love the sound of rain on a tarp or tent, it is so relaxing.
I like the coffee bag you had I must keep an eye out for those, any way take care and I look forward to the next video, best regards to Mandy.
Thanks Paul, I'll pass on your kind wishes to Mandy. Yes rain is such a soothing sound to listen too thats for sure
Pitter patter, raindrops. So relaxing.
I'm not keen on those single use plastic coffee bags, and I guarantee they cost an arm and a leg. I just dump ground coffee in my mug, and leave it for 5 minutes to settle.
All the best, Sandy.
They were a gift and according to the instructions can be reused a few times, but the taste wasn't any different to an other coffee really
Good to see you out camping Sandy. I was watching the bike ones, but this is more what I’m into👍🏻
I hope to be doing more winter camps now as I have been given access to these woods all year round. Normally off limits during the shooting season
Very relaxing 🙃
LOL Sandy I wish we could have some sun. Nothing but rain this week.
Ity's that time of year Dave, we are going to have to put up with it for the next few months!
Great video as always
Cracking video Sandy good to see you back in the woods cooking a nice bit of food atvb jimmy 😎😎👍👍
Thanks Jimmy
Sandy I've been waiting on a camp like this. I know the sleep was wonderful!. Looking forward to snow and hot tent.
Yes hot tent did you say? Watch this space:)
Sandy does these videos to a tee
Did wonder if you were out or not lol as i knew you could not resist a storm and some rain. 😁 classic Wiltshire man at his best ♥️👍😊😊
Glad you enjoyed it Marcus, it was nice laying there cosy and warm listening to the wind and the rain.
Very good bruv, weather very bad yesterday.
Just in case i forget `HAPPY BIRTHDAY` :-) That steak looked very nice and tasty. We have just come back from Devon, We were lucky with the weather :-) Your eye looks a lot better `brilliant`.
My eye is great I am pleased to say
Hope your both well sandy
Lovely job Sandy!
You are so lucky to have such a great place to camp so close to home.
Fantastic job with your eye matey.
Keep them coming bud!
TTFN.
Thanks John I am relieved the eye op has worked well
👍
Cracking camp Sandy and yes it lagged it down all night lol , a nice chilled woodland camp with some fine dining . atb Dave
Cheers Dave and that rain finally killed off my old Lumix camera too.... Loved the sound of rain so it was worth it, just have to buy a waterproof camera for the next one:)
@@WiltshireMan Poor old lumix , what will you replace it with tho ?
@@BorderRambler I'm not sure yet Dave, money is not in abundance after having some time off with eye surgery so I may have to save for a bit.
Ah, I enjoyed that. Thanks for taking us along with you, W.M. You're a gent.
Hi Sandy, really good to see you back in the woods again. Food looked great for a one man meal. I love seeing your wood or any of your camping videos. Always something new to see and always something to learn . Well done mate keep them coming. best regards.
Nice camp
Looking good Sandy. The eye op was a big success. Perfect camp x
Thankfully it has worked out Mary, I am a lot better with the gold implant removed
@@WiltshireMan it looks so much better. It must be a big weight off! No pun intended hehe x
Lovely rainy video! Cheers, from new subscriber and wannabe wild camper from the Netherlands!
Thanks and welcome Laura:)
Therapy Sandy yes, we all require it and listening to the rain on your tarp was very therapeutic no doubt. Your meal looked marvellous. Last night's storm was a humdinger with thunder just before first light here this morning. Long live the Lumix. Paul 👍😊
Didn't hear any thunder here in Wiltshire Paul. I am on the llok out for a new camera now. The old one did well but a replacement will cost £500....So it hurts a bit
@@WiltshireMan £500 ouch but I am sure good value Sandy 😊
I had a funny feeling that your’d be heading to the woods in this weather. It was very heavy rain & high winds here in Sussex. Nice dinner! Hope you had a great Birthday?!
Yes I had a lovely birthday thanks Andy
Love these videos Sandy, as i said you learn a lot just watching you picking up tips as you go along, I am surprised you did not get the Eggs and Bacon on for a breakfast before you left, look forward to the next video, regards, Colin.
Sandy it was so relaxing almost spilled my coffee great video as always . The weather here water if you in San Diego is also cooling down but doesn't look like we will be getting much rain here, and what we do get goes into the ocean great place for water I guess but no worries there making desalination plants all over the coast line . The Politicians here do not believe in damns might save to much water ,after all NO one can make money with free water. Happy trails
They will always find a way to turn a profit Mike.
Always looking forward to your videos
A nice outing in the rain 👍.
The little Trangia Mini is one of my favourite Cook Kits. I've added two bowls from a 70's 'Evernew Aluminium Camping Bowl Set' and a Tatonka 18cm SS Bowl. The lot nest very nicely into one another and there is not much that I cannot do with this setup. A caution .. there can be quite a bit of heat transfer through the bottom of the Pot Stand / Wind Screen. To take care of this, a piece of Silicon Mat cut to fit into the Mini Pan works fine (also better protection for the pan during storage) .. and .. a plastic cable tie cut and trimmed to suit and turned inside out keeps the jaws of the Pot Gripper together when stored.
Take care ..
Those are great tips, thanks Thomas
@@WiltshireMan 👍
Sandy you’re awesome and have a wonderful outlook on life. Here at the bottom of the NZ north island and the weather is warming up and lifting my spirits as I look forward being to move me old bones with more freedom. I was hoping to visit my old village Shrivenham left there 1974 but this COVID thing closing down travel kinda put ‘the mockers’ on it aye. Watching your video this Thursday morning eating hot scones a song by Stills-Young band came into my head so I want to dedicate that to both you and your darling wife, ‘Long May you run’. Hope I’m not being too cheeky. Kind regards Robert and Ann
Thanks Robert and Ann, Yes I know Shrivenham well, lived there from the age of 11 til almost 25 and before that was in Watchfield, sure is a long way from NZ.
Weather here is the reciprocal opposite.... To be expected I suppose:)
These woods look magical! Thanks for the great video, I love how varied they all are. This one made me laugh out loud!! Especially the discovery of the Puff Ball mushroom v Lurcher 🤣 we have 2 and can totally relate!! 😉🤣
LOL Yes that was on my previous video where my dog Carmen trod on the puff ball. She is quite a character
That’s about as chilled as a wild camp can get 👍
My style, very enjoyable thank you
Great job Sandy 👍🍻
The rain was relentless on Thursday evening in this area!! I very recently subscribed to your channel and have been watching your videos. Im new to solo camping and have recently bought all my gear. Had a couple of set ups in my garden but not yet ventured out into the wild. I enjoyed your video of The Ridgeway walk as i have my eyes on this for an adventure next spring, i live in Swindon but have relatives in Bedfordshire so if i do the ridgeway i can meet up with family at Ivinghoe Beacon when i arrive there. What tips can you offer for a first oveenighter solo camp please, i have to say im quite nervous about it but i just need to do it now before i start over thinking it! Thanks in advance. Please keep the videos coming 👍
I learned by doing RJ and if you camp in close proximity to the Ridgway and follow the Wild campers rule you should be OK. Pitch up late and leave early and leave no trace. The same applies to woodland camping, just make sure there are no dangerous trees or branches overhead and don't do anything that will draw attention to you.
Really great video Sandy, thanks for sharing with us, what was the Coffee like, I know its quite expensive , is it worth it. Take care. Danny (jacklore screensaver)
Hi Danny, just tasted like a good quality coffee too me, Not that much different to normal coffee
Nice camp sandy 👍. I'm getting me some of those coffee bags to try you know me and coffee . Not used my trangia mini since we did the D'Arcy doulton way.
Sorry to here your lumix died at least now you have an excuse to get the sony RX100 vii. Lol.
Cheers sandy Atb Joe.
Thanks Joe, Yes the Lumix has finally died, the wet weather was the last straw. It has been a bit iffy for a while now so not unexpected. As for the RX100, I'd love one but just too much money for my pocket. I'll probably muddle along with the D7500 for B roll and the gopro for the time being, not sure what to get as a replacement video camera just yet, although I am leaning towards a Sony A6100. Money not in abundance just now as not been back to work properly since the eye op but easing back into it.
@@WiltshireMan the a6100 is a good choice . I sent my gopro back and getting a replacement it died lol. When using the D7500 it's best to manual focus it .plus you have 3 axis I.S and zebra stripes
Good to see you out under canvas Sandy, I still use a Optimus Hunter great little stove that all fold in to its container.
I've seen them, nice stoves, I have a Svea123r I think it has a similar burner setup
@@WiltshireMan I finished up using a petrol stove when motorcycle touring in the 1970's, main reason being you are carrying upwards of 3 gallon of petrol on the motorcycle so why not use it as fuel for the stove as well. Been using the Hunter and a Vango Force Ten ever since!!!
Sorry to hear about the camera! Always when you least expect it.
I have a Lumix G10 camera body lurking around you're more than welcome to have to keep you going until you can replace the G7. It's a slightly lower spec, but the micro 4/3d's lenses will fit. I upgraded to a G90, so the G10 is a bit redundant now (getting dusty ona shelf). Feel free to get in touch and I can post it!
Thats very kind of you to offer LH I may be intouch but I may already have a solution
Good vid you make it look easy ! I wild camped SDW near Burton Down Tuesday night got pummeled by the storm in Rab ridge raider wet and wild
Sounds like you had a great time then:)
@@WiltshireMan yes it was a character building night! 3rd night ever of wild camping :) btw I decided to try the SDW after watching your solo sdw vid so thanks for the inspiration 👍 I also enjoy your content on R.E. Himalayan
as long as I am warm enough and at this particular time in my life I sleep V hot to me rain on fabric is like sleeping pills maybe 20 mins or so listening then I'm gone
I love the sound of the rain, pure therapy:)
Truly inspirational!
Ah, therapy, we all need therapy. I find spanish sunshine works better for me than Wiltshire rain.
LOL, I wouldn't say no to some of that either
I always say the same....your steak ha ha, glorious indeed!!!
Thanks Bry, It was so nice being out in the rain storm but the camera didn't fare too well, it was the final straw, I am hard on my cameras
@@WiltshireMan You will have to hope your next birthday brings a new camera....
Thanks for sharing Sandy. Really enjoyed it. It was therapy for me.
The Hexpeak is excellent
A lot of space
What do you use as a groundsheet outside of the nest?
Good to see you out
I didn't have any ground sheet out side the nest Neeman, just the woodland floor on this occasion
You’re eye looks good Sandy! Did they replace the gold weight with something else? Awesome camp BTW. Got one booked for Halloween weekend. Can’t wait to get out. D.
Yes the eye is much improved thanks. They removed the gold weight and are waiting to see how things go. Sofar there is no weight in the eye lid and hopefully I can continue on this way indefinately
Good to see you back in the woods. I like these videos the best
Makes me realise I’m spoilt with the caravan 😂
Yes but you couldn't get your caravan into the woodland where I go:)
