    I seriously can not thank you enough for this video. I had lent my Paint Crew to a friend - before I had a chance to use it. When he returned it, he said the sprayer worked but the roller thingy didn't and he couldn't use it. He also cleaned it - somewhat and therein lies the initial problem. There was sooooooooo much paint buildup all over the place that I thought some of the paint were some kind of thick WASHERS! In any case, the machine works absolutely perfect! Thank you again.

    WOW, that was alot better than the last clean up video I watched. It really helps to have taken apart the machine before,use the right tools and know what the parts are called. Very helpful.Maybe next time go into more detail, But a very helpful video. Now I just need a place to get the parts. Thanks.

    After further review, I too have the goo. I’ll get it sorted and hopefully back to my project. Easy to disassemble, for even a beginner. Thanks for making the video. I wouldn’t have tackled it if this wasn’t posted, and that equates to dollars and time saved, not to mention a dose of mental positivity.

    I had a problem with my machine not building pressure and a very load noise when running.
    I figured out that the piston was not making full stroke. My problem was exactly the same: Piston was halfway frozen. Did the same fix as you did. It works great now.

    nice video and very clear narration...i have the wagner paint crew 660 with the red bucket. pretty much the same mechanism....in my experience, putting 1ml of oil inside the pistons after every use will make the sprayer last longer...i put 1ml of oil and pinch the one way valve so the oil would pour down the pistons, turn it on for 3seconds to scatter the oil to all the internal parts. then ready to store.
    btw, the beach is i guess in Boracay. (????)....nice tho

    This is a great Video. Thank you. I almost threw my paint crew out the window until I found your video. However. you downplayed the importance of the "Outlet Valve". There are three (3) "O" rings on this device. 1 - big one around the shaft, 1 - small one at the tip, and the most important one is inside the "Outlet Valve" at the tip. There are 4 little notches at the end of the valve. Those notches are to grab with a small set of needle nose pliers and pulls the cap from the tip of the unit. The third "O" ring is at the tip of the spring check. If this spring check "O" ring is damaged, it will allow the unit to prime, but not build pressure.

  • @Zoofactory
    @Zoofactory 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    I’ve got a Pro Max upright by Wagner. No prime, and my inlet spring is clean and functional. No obvious issues. Perhaps it is the piston. Venture into the unknown or or get out the torx bits…. I’ll contemplate over lunch. One thing is for sure, I don’t want to roll the vaulted ceiling or these walls. 🙄. I really appreciate the video.👍

    When the piston was put pack into the machine their seem to be a small delay before the piston bottomed out would that be due to a seal that the piston past through. When I used my machine in the handle filter was remnants of a rubber seal but cannot find where it has come from. I do have a problem with the machine were the machine will not prime properly and looses its prime.

    As shown in the first 60sec, the ball goes in first and rests on a metal seating surface in the gun. make sure it is over the hole, then drop in the spring, then screw on the nylon (plastic) retainer.
    When fully screwed in, only 1 or 2 threads will show. This puts pressure on the spring and ball. This also give the trigger it's slight spring action. If you don't feel the spring action when you pull the trigger then somehting is not right..

  • @patpatpat999

    Ms Volvo: I would try removing the outlet valve and soaking in 90% alcohol for a day or two. This softens/dissolves latex paint. You may also pouring some into the resevoir and run in prime and spray modes. Let sit for an hour, and try again. Be careful and do outside where fumes will dissapate. Also, burnng alcohol is very hard to see in bright daylight. You usualy buty "rubbing" alcohol at the supermarket.
    PLEASE let me know how it goes, so we all learn a little more. :)

    I found that my problem with the Wagner Paint Crew was actually in the motor housing. I removed the 4 screws from the motor housing and found that the motor armature was coated with paint. Once I buffed the armature to a nice copper color, I reassembled the motor housing and the motor worked perfectly. Be cautious of allowing paint to run down into the motor housing area and try to pour any excess in the paint hopper from the FRONT of the paint hopper back into a container.

  • @anarqst

    Can you use mineral spirits to clean out any oil based paint in the Paint Crew? What type of "cleaning solution" do you use to clean this machine out? The manual doesn't exactly specify. (I could have missed it somewhere)
    Also, do you think there are better machines out at this point for the novice diy'er? It seems this is quite the pain to pull entirely apart after every use. Great video by the way.

    Good afternoon, my machine stopped taking pressure during a job. Throw the paint but without excessive force. The function "prime" does not do it, and I thought it could be that valve that is dirty with paint, however I do not know how to disassemble the red knob to access the nuts and clean that part, because if I put a wire I notice the presence of paint inside. Any ideas?

    To remove the inlet valve find the white plastic tool attached to the base of the pump assembly. It looks like a small hexagon block of white plastic with a square hole in the center with two thumb taps on top to help turn it. Insert this into the inlet valve opening and turn it with a 3/8" ratchet extension. turn it counter clockwise and pull it out through the paint tub. Or as in the video it can be removed after you take the paint tub off.

    I don't know of any upgrade. Wagner has some good videos for how to do clean up. But it's a royal pain. Personnally, I remove the valve after use and leave in a container of alcohol between uses.

  • @patpatpat999
    @patpatpat999  13 ปีที่แล้ว

    Ms Volvo: I assume in "prime" the paint is cycling through the tube back into the resevoir and the motor never stops running. Yes?
    Does paint stop coming out of the priming tube? If paint still comes out of the priming tube, the Prime-Spray valve is bad. Assuming no paint out of the priming tube and the motor runs forever, I would remove the spray hose and see if anything comes out. You can do this with water. If something comes out, my first guess is the outlet valve is the problem. NEXT:

Then remove the (red) prime / spray shaft (remove from the back of the nob and repeat the process.

    Top end DIY tool.
    Generally it takes a third of your time masking off, one third painting and the rest cleaning down the tool.
    No need for a second coat.
    Check the paint is compatible for spraying.
    ENSURE THE SPRAY DOESN'T CONTACT THE SKIN. Such high pressure can impregnate the skin. Highly dangerous.

    • @patpatpat999
      @patpatpat999  9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I would be surprised if running water through it did any harm. You might try priming the system with rubbing alcohol and letting it sit a day, then flush with water. You can also turn the unit upside down, and there is a small opening into the case where you can see (with a light) if the piston is moving when the motor is running. Remember, it can run and the wobble thingy will move but the steel piston will not. Lastly, check the O rings on input and ouput valves to make sure they have no cuts or nick. So, I don't know what's wrong with your machine, but perhaps this will help. Good Luck.

    The Owners manual on proper cleaning shows nothing about taking this apart on any of there models, simple flush with warm soapy water, is all that Wagner claims to be needed. I will tell you that when I disassembled this Nylon Bushing, Spring & Ball, that all had paint on they that cleaning with soap & water did not clean out. Regardless, I have a Spray Gun that will not close the seat now. I can't shut the paint down. I had to get a new Spray Gun from Wagner.

    I have owned several of these and found the $.10 O rings are usually the problem with it not priming. If the little oring in the outlet valve is nicked the whole unit is worthless. I'd like to know where to find the right size O rings so I have a spare set at all times. Very frustrating to have an entire job set up, paint in the tray and have a $.10 O ring fail.. Shame on Wagner for not supplying an extra set. Would cost them pennies.

    Audioman1010: Good Point. In theory you shouldn't have to take it apart, but as you've found, just flushing out doesn't work as good as Wagner thinks, and the gun never fully dries out and eventually experiences some corrosion which leads to paint trailing-dribbling instead of clean shut-off.

    I don't think you can repair the outlet valve. All I can suggest is to soak it in 90% alcohol for a couple days. Clean it as best you can then reinstall and run water through the system under pressure. Can get new part here: (Remove all the "*" to make the link work. h*t*t*p://*w*w*w.*ereplacementparts.*com*/*outlet-valve-kit-p-832836.html

    I purchased one of these sprayers and it worked for about 25' total junk. Wagner products suck.
