At 05:49 you wrote something about Steam Turbine and Power Turbine. Is it just one Turbine driving a Generator (the most logical Thing to me) or two Turbines with one of them driving something else? On that Subject: The Marie Maersk is from the first Generation of Triple E Vessels; can they use the Shaft Generators as Motors too to save Fuel by keeping the Diesel Generators at full Load or is that System exclusive to the second Generation of Triple E Vessels? I considered both of these Subjects for my Marine Engineering Thesis, the first one in the Form of COGAS/COGES Plants and the second just for saving Fuel with Electricity in General, the Hybrid Ferries from Scandlines cought my Attention on that (essentially having replaced one of the Diesel Generators with a large Battery which get's charged in Port and discharged while accelerating and stopping, thus allowing to maintain an almost constant Load on the remaining Generators). But I dropped both of these Ideas in Favour of an LNG vs Methanol Fuel Comparison; IMHO does Methanol have the Advantages of LNG without the Drawbacks of being gaseous at Room Temperature.
Yes and no to the turbine, it has a 2 stage steam turbine with 8bar and 4bar pressure. But in addition to that, via a transmission a power turbine is connected, it runs of the exhaust gas via a bypass pipe from the exhaust receiver. It is also possible on the first generation to run the shaft generators as motors. Roughly 3MW supply/delivery. Sound very interesting. Let me know if there is anything I can help you with, though I'm not working with Maersk anymore, but still sailing. Enjoying my time at DFDS.
@@thehikingseafarer8527 So it has a similar Setup to the Emma Maersk Class with the Exhaust Gas driving a Turbine Generator. Both Emma Maersk and Triple E Class seem very intersting, which is one of the Reasons why I consider apllying to Maersk Line once I get my Engineer Certificate in 2022. Do you know if they hire Germans too? It's really hard today to find a Job in a foreign Company; many Scandinavian Companies (including DFDS) look very promising to me but I've heard that they usually employ their own People only. Starting as a 4th Engineer is another good Reason for me, what are the Duties of a 4th Engineer there?
I am not sure about the setup on the E class. But I think it is more or less the same. The best advice is to apply. Depending on if you have your 6 month of sailing or not, you will start as junior or 4th. I'm not that we'll acquainted with the hiring process, only that I applied myself and got the job at DFDS. We don't have 4th engineers at DFDS and the duties varies a lot, there is no specific area, you have to know how to handle and operate everything. Best of luck with your education.
Sorry can't remember the exact model number. But 8 cyl 80 bore. The first ones. Later that changed to 7 cyl 80. And on 2. Gen ships it is a bit longer stroke.

Both the turbines run on the same generator, and the steam turbine has to start up before the power turbine can kick in.

Very interesting thank you 🙏
What model of MAN engine are the main engines?

@@thehikingseafarer8527 Found it: MAN B&W 8S80ME Mk9
Ser fedt ud! Overraskende ikke rystet at se på 😁
Mange tak :)
Gopro 7 er ret vild :)
Oj my God , you should be clean exhaust trunk 😔😔😔😔
lost in engine room
