  • Today we have another something unique: 3 Catastrophic Water Pump Failures, while underwater. All pumps are plugged into mains powered, and then superimposed with 3000 Volt spikes. a demonstration of how even the most robust mains-operated submersible pumps are prone to power-spike induced catastrophic failures. hahahahahaha
    (00:01): pump number 1
    (01:40): pump number 2
    (03:20): pump number 3

I can only imagine the mess that would happen with a 50A rated circuit and no current limiting (other than the breaker of course.) maybe I’ll try that at some point hahaha.

Actually the current HAS to be limited to prevent the resin-encapsulated coils from exploding shrapnel then shattering the glass jar! Also Notice the high voltage arc starter has been modified for multi-spark with breaks in between. The breaks allow the spark gap to re-prime and also make exploding electronics sound like theyre laughing to death. hahaha

the powersupply how did you do it?

Its mains 120 volts, in series with a clothes dryer resistor modified to draw 22 Amps when connected, then wired in series with a "High voltage high frequency arc starter", the same thing used to strike an arc in welding machines without electrodes touching, and the setup has a special circuit to prevent the high voltage from backing up to the rest of the house.. The high voltage is triggered using a special pushbutton switch that fires for 35ms when pressed and also fired another 35ms when relessed. The results are hilarious, The consumer electronics connected to it gets internal arcing until mains current destroys the rest.
