Art plus Madness: From Planned Obsolescence to Shear Entertainment VII
Today we have 15 minutes of obsolete consumer electronics being subjected to repeated high voltage surge testing, until it pops.
(00:01): Portable humidifier with noisy fan: Let it go out with a bang rather than a whimper, Notice it ran high speed for the last time as it short-circuited! hahahaha
(02:10): Broken aquarium air pump 1, Does not pump air, but can it pump electricity? hahahaha
(04:20): Broken aquarium air pump 2, open view version
(05:23): Samsung phone charger: We never knew these things explode with repeated surge test! Samsung = "Sam Finished Singing". hahahaha
(07:33): Coffee mug warmer: does make a nice ring of fire, and a scorched table! haha
(08:36): The Noisy fan: this fan really put up a fight upon being surge tested! haha
(10:44): computer fans, always come with explosive fuse-wires! haha
(11:17): Electric Blanket control boxes: apparently will explode during a thunderstorm! Don't leave them plugged in!
(11:52): Hard Drive Dock, to ensure proper data destruction, also blow up the dock! hahahaha
(12:27): Samsung ipod dock, These are obsolete, therefore are to be destroyed! hahahaha
(12:58): Rockband Microphone, since these cannot be used for ordinary stereos, they became a Travesty. therefore another use of it? pump high voltage, till it pops! hahahaha
(13:21): The laughing battery charger: rechargeable batteries are a joke these days
(15:13): RadioShack telecom, cannot communicate, goes emo, and offs itself! hahahaha

High voltage surge testing of a submersible water pump: Notice the internal sparking creates a steam of (toxic!) smoke bubbles and sludge and eventually the water becomes progressively darker, which seems to indicate that the pump is becoming more and more EMO. First we start by plugging the cubes straight to the wall outlet: Notice it went Booooowwse! hahaha! after that, High voltage is applied with smokey results that includes self-decapitation, where the two sections of the cubes burned themselves ap...

Today we have a rather bizarre accomplishment: A Low Voltage Jacob's Ladder! That's right! You were probably thinking high voltage in excess of 10,000 volts to accomplish it, But instead, we take ordinary mains of only 120 Volts, then using a random-fire(tm) oscillator impulse arc starter, we cause 120Volts to arc across the copper electrodes. Its mains 120 volts, in series with a clothes dryer resistor modified to draw 22 Amps when connected, then wired in series with a "High voltage high frequency arc starter", the same thing used to strike an arc in welding machines without electrodes touching, and the setup has a special circuit to prevent the high voltage from backing up to the rest of the house.. The high voltage is triggered using a special pushbutton switch that fires for 35ms when pressed and also fired another 35ms when relessed. The results are hilarious, The consumer electronics connected to it gets internal arcing until mains current destroys the rest.

  • @deltab9768

    I can only imagine the mess that would happen with a 50A rated circuit and no current limiting (other than the breaker of course.) maybe I’ll try that at some point hahaha.

    • @artbeautyandmadness3091
      @artbeautyandmadness3091 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Actually the current HAS to be limited to prevent the resin-encapsulated coils from exploding shrapnel then shattering the glass jar! Also Notice the high voltage arc starter has been modified for multi-spark with breaks in between. The breaks allow the spark gap to re-prime and also make exploding electronics sound like theyre laughing to death. hahaha

  • @deltab9768
    @deltab9768 หลายเดือนก่อน

    What voltage was the “plasma diffuser” in that other video? Obviously there were high voltage pulses to get the arc started but what voltage was supplied to the electrodes after that?

    • @artbeautyandmadness3091
      @artbeautyandmadness3091 หลายเดือนก่อน

      only 120 volts AC is used but limited to 22 Amps using a large resistor and is present the whole time, but the high voltage pulses starts it in the same way how some welding machines start the arc, this time using a random sequence mechanism so the arc appears like random fireworks

    • @deltab9768
      @deltab9768 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@artbeautyandmadness3091 interesting! I thought it was something like that. Do you use that same setup (120VAC+ high voltage starting pulses) for all of these videos? I’m going to have to try this although I’ve got .3F of 200V electrolytic capacitors and.34F of 300V ones capable of holding 9kJ at 170VDC (the peak voltage of 120RMS) so I’d probably go for one big appliance-shattering kaboom. Or maybe reconfigure them for 600V and then they can all be max voltage and hold 21.6 kJ…

    • @artbeautyandmadness3091
