I'm doing great now that I saw this video. I was cleaning the bathroom before I had to take my cat to her vet appointment. I come back home and I see this video pop up and you just changed the game for me. Thank you.
Five minutes matter! This concept works no matter what room you are in. I spend 25 minutes on cleaning, picking up or decluttering my house 2 or 3 times a day. I started this when my children were very young. Once in the morning, at noon and again before my husband came home. My children learned this routine from a young age and were helping when they were present. It may seem like a lot but I feel that this routine allowed me to achieve many things in my life. When my children went to school, so did I. I was able to earn my bachelor's and even my Master's. I was able to teach for 28 years. This allowed me income to go on vacations and have experiences as a family and later pay for their college degrees. I would never have succeeded without this structure in my life. No one cares if you're clean or not. If you want things to happen in your life, you have to do it even when you don't feel like it. My Granny always told me that anyone can move mountains if they do it one shovel at a time.
I learned long ago that it's more efficient to spend a few minutes each day rather than once a week. In 5 minutes every morning I can make my bed, scoop the litter box, clean toilet, sink and counter, vacuum the floor, and even brush the cat--that job alone is less than 30 seconds!
I do that too! I get up, open the window in the bedroom, scoop the litter box, brush my teeth, shower & make the bed afterwards. Such a good start every day ☺️👍🏻
I keep a pack of cleaning wipes in my bathroom; I have very bad depression and rarely have the energy to do even five-minute cleaning tasks. But! I've gotten more cleaning done in months since I put those in there -- I make a point of wiping something down every time I have to use the bathroom, something that would take no more than 30-60 seconds to scrub down relatively decently. It adds up enormously. I've even managed to start getting the blinds done, a few slats at a time. I know that disposable wipes aren't the most economic and I'm not a fan of disposable 'culture', but considering this is the only thing that's worked for me in literal months, I gotta just accept it for now lol.
This is brilliant! I can’t get the motivation to clean. So I would feel accomplished getting a little something done all day. You simply brightened my outlook!
I agree! I know how you feel , because I’m super lazy and also insecure about any homemaking /cleaning tasks. So having some thing that seems like it’s making it easier for me will allow me to actually get it done instead of just feeling anxiety about it days after days. Do what works for you and later if you are able to adjust the method, wonderful if not, keep doing what makes you happier 😊

Thank you. I am 31 and before these videos, I never really learned how to clean any part of my house. I struggled to keep my kitchen clean and vacuum occasionally but when it came to a bathroom, I just didn’t know where to start. Tbh when my husband and I were full time quarantined in our 800 sq ft condo between March and Aug - I think I cleaned our one and only bathroom maybe twice. I know - super gross! My husband and I went from living in our condo to an 2800 sq ft. house in August. #firstworldproblems but old pre-makers clean me might have ended up in tears at the thought of how to keep such a space clean. Armed with the knowledge you’ve given me, my microfiber cloths, and my makers clean mop, my house now looks amazing. Last weekend I deep cleaned all three(!) bathrooms in probably an hour. I used to worry that if/when we eventually had kids, I would never be able to keep up and just resigned myself to accepting that I was never going to be good at cleaning. Now, I just don’t worry about that anymore. Also, my mother was so impressed with my place that she immediately got herself the mop and microfiber cloths. 😂 She has been equally thrilled with them. Well... I used to hate cleaning the tub... the Maker's Mop is AWESOME for cleaning the tub and shower walls! I spray the shower with a dish soap and vinegar mixture and let it sit for several minutes. Then I wet the Maker's mop and scrub away with the swivel head. No more on my knees or bending over. I have to wipe the fixtures by hand but that's no big deal. You should do a demo on that. It's saves a lot of time and my BACK and KNEES! Lisa
So did you wash your hands after cleaning the toilet and before grabbing the microfiber to wipe down the counter and faucets? I always clean the toilet last.
When my 4-year-old or both kids bath in the tub, 2 mins before they leave I ask them to pick up all the toys, collect them in 1 container. They can do that themselves I put it away after where it usually belongs. That way, I don't need to pick it up after. :) 5 mins cleaning everyday truly helps btw. Thank you for this wonderful video.
Thanks a lot for your very helpful cleaning tips and advices. Regarding bathrooms, we always have cleaning gloves on, especially if it involves the cleaning of the toilets and toilet brushes. That way, it takes away the reluctance on putting the hands in dirt ! Take care and see you on your next video!
I used to find the tub/shower quite the daunting task. Now I use the same cleaner you used in the toilet (a FRESH UNUSED ONE of course) for the bath/shower, and it is SO easy and quick!

It would be great if you could post a video on how to clean your house after someone has had Covid in your home. Including cleaners to use and how long they should sit before you wipe them off. This would be amazing!
That is mainly unnecessary. Over night (7-8 hours) 99% of the viruses died on contaminated surfaces as plastics/woods/metals. The corona virus has a half life of about 1 hour. That means that in 1 hour half of the existing viruses died.
If you want to be extra extra extra safe use surface disinfecting cleaners that contain cleaning alcohol. Or just plain cleaning alcohol. Spray, let evaporate, done
@@Kath-Erina That’s not true. Coronavirus stays on plastic for 2-3 days, wood 4-5 days and stainless steel 5-6 days. Not sure where you got your information.
@@BbGun-lw5vi Your information is dated. Actually "they" don't know themselves. They keep changing what they're saying. The fact is that masks don't do anything. Some people are just becoming brainwashed sheep. Funny how there is absolutely no flu this season. Because what normally is flu is now being diagnosed as covid. Just like car accidents, heart attacks, many other diseases are being diagnosed as covid.
My second cousin who is 19 years old is in the hospital right now with Covid since Sunday. Shes been on the ventilator twice. She’s off it now and we’re praying she stabilizes soon. She is healthy and thin. We are all still shocked because of her age. My brother’s BFF’s mom and sister died from Covid. His mom was 68 but his sister was forty and healthy. My cousin’s cousin almost died. Shes 39 and quite fit. She was on a ventilator and had to be on oxygen after, last I heard. A friend’s daughter, 20 years old, was one of the first to get the virus in March. She still can’t taste food. This is all true and we can PM if you’d like proof because I worry. My brother’s BFF did not believe in the virus either. I have his texts.
Yes! I started a few months ago with cleaning the bathrooms every few days n it doesn't take that long since I do it often enough it never seems like a big deal. A few times I've gotten busy n then didnt get it done n then I wanted to procrastinate since it seemed like a bigger job.
I like them too. Seems to be an unpopular opinion because it’s wasteful, but I think it’s gross and more of a chore to disinfect a toilet brush after using them. Plus, after awhile they get crazy looking and form flat spots and end up in the trash anyway. Lol
Cleaning the toilet used to be my bane, but now, after a back injury I find the toilet doable, but in no way can i clean a tub now; physically can't do it ☹ So glad I had a second bathroom with a walk in shower 😊
The most daunting for me would be the toilet. Everything from the toilet that small space in-between the seat and tank, the sides of the toilet the flooring in the back the wall. Ugh! There are so many nooks and cranies
I'm with you on this one Melissa!👍 A tub is definitely a more daunting task. Thanks for the helpful video! And Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you and yours!🌲⛄❄🎉
Same. The toilet isn't particularly difficult. You just have to get over the "eurgh it's a toilet" thing, and once you treat it like any other bit of ceramic, the toilet is quite easy to clean You can absolutely just use a spray / toilet paper, and that's all you need. It's all disposable The bathtub however, that's just a huge pain. Honestly if there was a bathroom cleaning robot, that was available for the home that'd be amazing. I've already got one for the kitchen / downstairs
You’ve always been one of my favorite TH-camrs, and your tips really motive me to clean. I always use your “S pattern” and the eye level test. Thank you for all your time and effort that you put into these videos!(:
This is how I clean our bathroom too! While the kids are in the bathtub I get stuff done around the bathroom . I clean the whole bathroom in 5 and 10 min windows the same way.
My family buy's those chlorox wipes and I hated cleaning my sinks and toilets because if there's any water anywhere then those things dont pick up any dirt, so there's just streaks of dust all over the place and so I've got to run and grab paper towels or just wait till no one uses the bathroom. This was the first time I used a cloth to clean it and it worked 100x better and honestly I'm probably not going to go back. I'm also going to try some of that multipurpose cleaner.
I’d have to wear gloves for this task, especially the toilet lol but good tips. I usually go top to bottom, so mirror, then counters, then toilet, then floors. Normally I’d ask why you put the bathroom things on the floor, but I’ll bet the hardwood floors are clean already. Keep up the great work!
Tubs and/or showers are more daunting for me because of the strange angles that I have to wipe to do the vertical surfaces and do them well. It can be hard on my elbows and shoulders. Don't like it, but I'm a professional cleaner, so... I do it. ;)
I always scrub too hard with the disposable toilet cleaning scrub and it usually rips off the wand. I accidentally flushed one today and tried plunging it back up. Didn't work!! That sucker is somewhere down the pipes. Toilet surprisingly flushes okay. I'm debating rather to tell my husband.. 😬 Not a fan of those anymore. Back to the regular scrub brush 😂
Love your vlogs. I have a tub n shower combo. So, cleaning it is lengthy. You have to clean the surround (Tiles n Grout) Shower head, handle, spout, the tub in itself (inside n out) and the shower curtain. I leave mine open to dry then i slide it to one side. I use a microfiber cloth on a swifter setup. I'm looking into getting your mop system. (Got to budget n Save than I'll buy it) Thanks 😊
Toilet cleaning task is more daunting that I deal weekly with Lysol disinfectant spray and toilet cleaner. I always pre-wiped exterior toilet surface before spraying disinfectant and wiping with a separate microfiber rag drench with bleach solution or disinfectant solution.
I love the idea of the scotch bright cleaning pads for the toilet! Can't find it in my country yet though. :(. Some other brands, but they don't look as great as this one!
I can’t jive with the one use/disposable/plastic containing toilet bowl scrubbers, but as always, great tips. 😁 I hope you don’t make a regular thing out of promoting a high waste cleaning routine tho... that really will bum me out.
Great video, Melissa! I find my bathtub 🛁 to be the worst to clean because it's not rewarding, it doesn't look shiny at the end! I think the previous tenant ruined the lining, I don't know what's wrong with it but it looks opaque either way. Mostly, it's just awkward to clean, it's big and you have to bend over. But I did get rid of the pink mold with a toothbrush head I had! I figured instead of throwing it out, I'd keep it for cleaning stuff! One thing I can't believe, is that you don't like cleaning, Melissa, you have to enjoy it! I know I sure do and that's why I like your channel!
I've learned a lot of things about cleaning bathrooms and it's all through you Melissa! I learned that technique from your book so many years ago about looking from different angles and you could tell when something really isn't clean and you be surprised. I actually started doing the five minute 10 minute thing actually within the last month and I really find it very helpful to keep up with it. Especially your last video of cleaning things that don't need to be cleaned and just cleaning things that need to be cleaned goes hand in hand with this video
Advice on hair on counters. I find that when cleaning, the hair sticks to the sink/countertop, even with microfiber. What is the easiest way to tackle hair?
For me, I clean up any hair every time I use the bathroom. And every time I use the sink, I clean up the spots of water, or use my hand real quick to push down any dust or toothpaste. Then when I actually clean the sink, it only takes about 30 seconds. I try to keep my counters clean every time I use them. Goes quicker when you deep clean.
Hi Melissa, I hope you see even new comments on older videos. :) I used to try to be as zero waste in everything possible, but now that I'm visually impaired I'm happy to have options like the Scotch Brite toilet cleaning set. The last time I used a regular toilet bowl cleaning solution, the kind with the wiggly neck, I was not as slow and methodical as I now need to be at all times when using causting cleaners, and I got toilet bowl cleaner all around the bathroom floor. :( My effort to be independed and quick turned into me needing a sighted person coming along after me to mop up the floor, and I was so demoralised. :( Glad to see more companies jump into the dispasble toilet bowl cleaning market, as the Mr. Clean wands are ok but not as thought-out as these Scotch Brite ones are! Hope you are having a safe and awesome Christmas!~!
You guys totally need to find someone like me and clean their house. I have 7 cats, 2 dogs and 2 ducks (temporarily indoors)living in my home. I know I'm not the only one with a zoo lol. All of my cats were rescues and my ducks too (they were in poor conditions at the farm supply store). Anyways my home looks like a bomb went off, regularly. Alot if mud being tracked in, our belongings strung about and the hair I can't even begin. I do have a daily cleaning, that helps but I'd love to just see someones home that relates to mine. Lol
My first thought when i saw this video is, yes, it takes 5 mins if you start with a clean bathroom like this. And she definitely doesn't have pets and doesn't shed a hair from her head. You can't just wipe down a surface quickly if you have pets. You need to carefully wipe and grab the hair, rinse out the rag and keep going on another section. Repeat about 50 times. No chance of mopping without vacuuming first. Hair also gets stuck around silicone seals around everything 😔
I hate cleaning the tub!! I found that keeping a scrub daddy and some cleaner in the shower, I can clean it as needed while I’m in it. Makes life a little easier, and I can put the scrub daddy in the dishwasher afterwards.
Great! How do you organise used micro fibre towels/any towels you use for cleaning? Do you have a basket in the house where you throw in all used towels and another keep another pile ready to use somewhere?
Love the concept - would be great to see you do it in real time with a 5min timer on screen. Also, I use toilet paper to clean the toilet surfaces - it's right there, one less thing to have to run out and grab, or one less thing to have to find space to store in the bathroom and then remember to replenish.
You have a good point with the fact that using toilet paper allows one less thing to grab. But first of all, toilet paper is much more expensive than paper towels. On average 4 toilet paper rolls cost about $2.61CAD and two paper towel rolls cost about $3.20CAD. Although paper towels are more expensive, you get more bang for your buck in quality especially. Toilet paper is much more thin and much smaller, so you'll be using a bunch of toilet paper to clean such a big surface (like toilets are huge when you think about having to clean the entire thing including the toilet bowl) and paper towels are much thicker and actually made for cleaning. So I respectfully disagree and think that paper towels can not only save you money but they're also easier to clean with.
Can you do (or redo?) a video on how you motivate yourself to clean your home, when you know deep down that it’s a neverending job, and seems pointless, in that sense, even when your logical self knows how important it is, and even *wants* to clean!
I can't get down on my knees anymore to clean a tub or shower, so I'm thinking the mop might be a good idea. Or maybe that toilet brush (buy one just for the tub/shower) to scrub it while you're showering.
I HATE cleaning our toilet. Its got the sink on one side and the wall on the other. I hate crawling/reaching around on the ground to get those hard to reach spots in the back. Having to get right down in there just grosses me out every. single. time. It's never less gross to me. lol On the other hand the shower is no prob. I typically clean it whenever I shampoo my hair. While I wait for my deep conditioner to absorb I scrub the shelves, and all the bottoms of the bottles, the tub, and if I have time I get the bottom of the shower curtain liner too. I rinse it all off and replace everything neatly. It takes me about 5-6 min. (Or however long I feel like I want to leave my conditioner in for)
I love Clean my space but I have to say it's a bit discouraging watching her clean what appears to be an already immaculate space. The only "mess' I saw was bath toys in the tub. I just ordered your Maker's mop and am happy to support you but if you're taking suggestions, I'd love to see more relatable real life content. Oh, and I loved the video you did without makeup (again, more of a realist here.) Happy holidays!!
@@lb9549 can I just say that it’s hard to tell if there’s a mess through a camera lens. I’m sure her house isn’t that dirty like mine (I have no children) but also this video is a 5 minute clean. Meaning she does this more often so it doesn’t get as dirty. Although some people are just messy people and a bathroom can get really disgusting in a day. But for the most part people aren’t that gross within a 3-5 day period
@@lb9549 some people's restroom always look that clean. Everytime I go to my aunt's her restroom looks perfect. It just depends. Mine on the other hand... Lol
I really love that toilet cleaning wand. What you do with all those soiled micro fiber cloths you used to wipe down the surfaces? Do you rinse them and throw them in a basket and wait for the basket to get filled before laundering all the cloths together or do you keep reusing them? hmm...
I think the bathtub is daunting too because I have to bend over and stretch to get everything out and clean it. The toilet is a way quicker clean for me 🤷🏼♀️
I don't get it. You spray a mixture of water and dish soap and then just wipe it down dry. But then you have the remains of the chemicals everywhere if you don't use any water? Or am I getting it wrong? Btw your videos aro SO inspiring ant motivating. Made my home a better place.

@@Kath-Erina That’s not true. Coronavirus stays on plastic for 2-3 days, wood 4-5 days and stainless steel 5-6 days. Not sure where you got your information.

It would be great to see more sustainable products featured also
She has lots of videos on basic cleaning solutions that you can DIY!
Tub hands down! It's a lot bigger then the toilet. Though I do use the Scotch Brite tub scrubber which helps.

I like them too. Seems to be an unpopular opinion because it’s wasteful, but I think it’s gross and more of a chore to disinfect a toilet brush after using them. Plus, after awhile they get crazy looking and form flat spots and end up in the trash anyway. Lol
Cleaning the toilet used to be my bane, but now, after a back injury I find the toilet doable, but in no way can i clean a tub now; physically can't do it ☹
So glad I had a second bathroom with a walk in shower 😊
What floor tool are you using? It looks like it does a great job!
Maker's Clean makes the mop. She had a video about it recently if you want to know the particulars about its design.
@@salvagemania thank you so much 👍
The most daunting for me would be the toilet. Everything from the toilet that small space in-between the seat and tank, the sides of the toilet the flooring in the back the wall. Ugh! There are so many nooks and cranies
Yes! It’s that darn back space that kills me. As well as all the nooks at the base and the water hose.
Like you said: Ugh!
You are so right! Who invented a toilet? I believe it is a guy, who never had to clean it!
ergh even thinking about having to clean it is soo gross. i'm actually about to do it now!!! lol
I'm with you on this one Melissa!👍 A tub is definitely a more daunting task. Thanks for the helpful video! And Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you and yours!🌲⛄❄🎉
Same. The toilet isn't particularly difficult. You just have to get over the "eurgh it's a toilet" thing, and once you treat it like any other bit of ceramic, the toilet is quite easy to clean
You can absolutely just use a spray / toilet paper, and that's all you need. It's all disposable
The bathtub however, that's just a huge pain. Honestly if there was a bathroom cleaning robot, that was available for the home that'd be amazing.
I've already got one for the kitchen / downstairs
Just in time! I was about to start cleaning my bathroom. 😅
Let's go!!
The tub/shower is the hardest for me because it's physically hard for me to do. I'd rather clean 10 toilets than 1 shower. Good tips. Tyfs!!
You’ve always been one of my favorite TH-camrs, and your tips really motive me to clean. I always use your “S pattern” and the eye level test. Thank you for all your time and effort that you put into these videos!(:
Love you. Don't love single use products even though they are so convenient. Take care!
Happy Hanukkah and Merry Christmas!!!

I'm also going to try some of that multipurpose cleaner.
i'm definitely buying the scotch brite cleaner. nice vid!
I do it. ;)
I tried but just couldn't accomplish this in less than 10 minutes. But glad I know how long it really takes.
My most embarrassing encounter, with bathroom clean, I had wit my grandaunt. 🥵🥵
im so thankful to watch your channel to help me clean :)
The tub, 100% the tub. Takes a ridiculous amount of time and effort.
Totally agree
Shower is much worse 😭
@@CheesePretzelBites Trust me it's not, I clean both my tub and my mom's shower and it's way worse to clean the tub
@@stxrry.bobamilk We also have a Bathtub and Shower is so much worse in my opinion..

Thanks for the inspiration! Keep up the great content😻
5 minutes that's totally worth it! :)
What is the floor mop you used? Can we use that on laminate floors too?
I love the idea of the scotch bright cleaning pads for the toilet! Can't find it in my country yet though. :(. Some other brands, but they don't look as great as this one!
I can't wait to watch every one of your videos. Love it!!
I can’t jive with the one use/disposable/plastic containing toilet bowl scrubbers, but as always, great tips. 😁
I hope you don’t make a regular thing out of promoting a high waste cleaning routine tho... that really will bum me out.
When you were talking about the toilet scrubber and you said "pumice", I thought you said "hummus" and I was like...hmm...that's a new one. 🤔
Now THERE'S a toilet cleaning hack!
Hahahahahahaaaa!!! Whew that would be MESSSYYYY🤣🤣🤣
@@anneshirley9560 wishing could get my family to clean the sink
Love this one. What is the ratio of dish soap to water?
Love the vids. I have severe calcium-like deposits on my shower floor. Any suggestions? I’ve tried everything. Thankyou.
wow you speak English like i do from Australia. Hello fellow Commonwealth country!!
Great video! Very helpful. What is the ‘recipe’ for your cleaning solution?
I dread cleaning a bathtub & even a shower due to the MANY back breaking steps that are included in both of them!
Thank you!!
I use Ariel detergent for tub sink and toilet 🚽 and it keep bathrooms smelling good and clean
Merry Christmas Melissa!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Oh my god thank you so much for this thank you thank youu ❤️🌼❤️🌼❤️🌼
You are very welcome! Thanks for watching ❤️🌼
Not cleaning related, but I always see your slippers on videos and love them. What brand are they?
Wow. Some of the comments are pretty harsh.
Excellent free content…
Where’s the love?
Hi, what is the soap and water mixture ratio for the cleaner to make myself? And curious if you do a second pass on the floor to rinse? Thanks 😊
It’s usually 2 cups of water, 1/2 to 1 tsp of dish soap. Sometimes she adds 10 drops of essential oil
Nice tips, thanks for sharing 👌 happy Holidays to you and your family 🎄❤️🎄 ❤️
5 minutes to clean the bathroom! Yes please!
Thanks for the tips! Great video!
Did you vacuum the bathroom floor before you mopped/cleaned it? Or did you not need too with this sweeper?
Yes, I hate bathtub cleaning. Heading over to watch your bathtub cleaning video
Thanks for the video. I wouldn't put the things on the floor then back on the clean vanity.
Can you do (or redo?) a video on how you motivate yourself to clean your home, when you know deep down that it’s a neverending job, and seems pointless, in that sense, even when your logical self knows how important it is, and even *wants* to clean!
We have a whole series of "cleaning habits" videos which might help, but I'm going to add this to the video list - thanks for watching!
@@cleanmyspace Great! Thanks for the reply, your videos have taught me so much!
I'm in Canada as well, where do you buy those wand things for the bathroom? I looked everywhere and I can't find them.
@t
I find the tub more daunting, toilets are easy!
Having to get right down in there just grosses me out every. single. time. It's never less gross to me. lol
On the other hand the shower is no prob. (Or however long I feel like I want to leave my conditioner in for)
Love watching all your videos you rock girl
Who needs gloves when your bathroom already looks that clean? 😜
lol
Although some people are just messy people and a bathroom can get really disgusting in a day. any tips on how to keep the floor around the toilet clean?
I really love that toilet cleaning wand. What you do with all those soiled micro fiber cloths you used to wipe down the surfaces? Do you rinse them and throw them in a basket and wait for the basket to get filled before laundering all the cloths together or do you keep reusing them? hmm...

Your always first!
Yes, that does seem to be the case...
I think the bathtub is daunting too because I have to bend over and stretch to get everything out and clean it. The toilet is a way quicker clean for me 🤷🏼♀️
What cleaner do you use for outside of your toilet I can’t seem to find a video Is it the same you use for walls of your shower?
Thanks a lot. But the music is distracting.
Thanks for watching, the music is a little loud in this one, we sometimes get carried away with

@@cleanmyspace thanks for the reply.
I don't get it. You spray a mixture of water and dish soap and then just wipe it down dry.
But then you have the remains of the chemicals everywhere if you don't use any water? Or am I getting it wrong?

I am trying not to use any disposal products when doing my cleaning...ie. paper towels or one time scrubing gadgets. Other than that love your videos!
