Since I’m sure you have made most videos over the last 11 years, maybe you’d be okay with a recommendation! I’m a disabled person and I think it might be cool to make a video for people who have limited abilities or are elderly and can’t get low to clean certain things or easier tips for people like us! Just a suggestion 😊❤️❤️

The swifter mops, I get the one from Dollar Tree, are also a great option.

    • @MSUSPARTANS1973
      @MSUSPARTANS1973 2 ปีที่แล้ว +62

THIS IS LONG, BUT MAY BE SUPER HELPFUL. I don’t know what your disability is, but…..a Swiffer pole can be your best friend, as it’s able to move in every direction possible. No bending. No reaching.
      1) To clean mirrors, I put a microfiber cloth ( cheap ones from Amazon or the Dollar Tree. Absolutely no need to get expensive ones!) on the end of a Swiffer pole. I then spray the bathroom mirrors with Windex, and wipe it clean with the pole. No bending or reaching. I have found I don’t even need to wipe in any particular pattern to avoid streaking.
      2) To make cleaning a bathtub or shower easier, start by making a little concoction in a spray bottle: 1/2 cup white vinegar, 1 cup water, 20 drops tea tree essential oil. After you use of tub/shower, spray it down with this mixture. No need to wipe or rinse. This will help soap scum from building up.
When it comes time for your “real cleaning,” there are lots of DIYs out there, but I use traditional products, as I find they work best in most cases. Spray your whole tub area with “Fantastic.” Leave it for 10 minutes. Get a clean microfiber cloth and put it on the end of a Swiffer pole. Sound familiar? Either with a bit of a hot water running in the tub, or a bucket of hot water near by, wipe the whole thing down.
      Again, no bending or reaching.
NOTE: If you have some areas with serious soap scum, and need more elbow grease, you can simply attach one of those thin, green cleaning pads (I forget the name!) with rubber bands to the Swiffer pole and go in with that first.
Obviously if your disability is a respiratory issue, wear a mask or use more “green” products.
Let me know if you need some more ideas. There are two channels here on YT, you may find helpful. GOOD LUCK!!

My hack is when there is the need to rinse a tight space, for instance under the rim of a bathroom sink or around the bathroom faucet I use an old Waterpik Water Flosser. I can control the pressure and angle of water flow. I find it most useful, also in tight spaces of other items. I use so many of your ideas and hacks nearly everyday. I use baking soda and Palmolive dish soap I even make a mixture of just water and few drops of Palmolive in a spray bottle and clean glass tables with and counter tops. I would test the baking soda first on a small area since it's abrasive and can scratch some finishes of bathtubs. Always test products before. Great tip 👍

Only difference between that class was that you told us about letting it sit and how important it was to give it time to work and that if it was to dry you need to soak it back down with the dawn vinegar spray. Also to just throw all microfiber rags in a center of the bathroom when we're done with them. To then use them now to hand mop the floor out.

Thank you for your tips on baking soda! When we bought our very old house the white tub was so old it was yellow and rough feeling. I first sprayed with a can of Scrubbing Bubbles and let sit 10 minutes and then it washed down the drain with a scrubbing sponge and then immediately sprinkled the wet tub with Bon-Ami powder completely covering it and let it sit wet for 20 minutes. Then I scrubbed it with the abrasive side of a sponge. It got off all the yellow and the tub looked good enough not to need to replace it. For some reason these two products used in that particular order work so very well together, much better than separately. The Scrubbing Bubbles must soften the grime enough to allowed the Bon-Ami powder to get into it to remove it. Scrubbing Bubbles spray alone works fantastic on faucets- don't even need to scrub them really, just rinse and they shine!

I use toilet bowl cleaner to clean my tub/shower (preferably Lysol Power). I used to use soft scrub with bleach, but it never got it clean enough after intense scrubbing. Just coat the dry tub with the toilet cleaner and let it sit for 15 minutes max. Before rinsing, gently scrub heavily soiled areas and then rinse. Leaves tub sparkling like new.

🍊 I think I will try the cleaning recipe with orange essential oil. I make mine with lavender or tea tree depending on why I am cleaning it. Drying the tub is a real key that helps keep it clean. I must confess that I did not dry surfaces after cleaning until I watched Clean My Space videos. but now it is a must esp. in the colder months becaue it lets the room stay warmer when drying! Thanks Melissa! Will get that new do a micro fiber colth soon as possible.

Baking soda and dish soap also works well for me when I clean my glass stove top. I also spray vinegar on top for lifting the scum then the baking soda helps scrub and polish it

This is pretty great, thanks for sharing. I will try this method on cleaning day this week. I also use baking soda, but I mix with vinegar for that same foaming effect. I let it sit for a little and use circular bristle brush to get into crevices, because my tub bottom is textured. Then I usually cover the area in soap and bleach and cover the whole area. It’s terrible for my lungs, but it’s been working so far hehe

Dawn dish soap and simple green, baking soda if heavy residue. In a pinch you can use the regular soap used in the shower and a white scrubber. I use only this in my own tub works great

I use a NEMO campshower to spray down the tub after since I don't have a hose and shower head to use. I use hostest boiling water as a pre-pre treatment to kill bacteria.

We were raised to clean the bathtub and surrounds with a cream ammonia cleaner every time we used the bath. It used to live on the side of the tub with a cellulose sponge that we used to clean the tub and hand basin with. We also always had a small cloth that we used to dry up with.

One thing I do to extend the time between bathtub/shower cleaning, is to use the spray wand to rinse down the walls, shower doors and tub before I get out. It really cuts down on the soap scum residue buildup.

I use just straight baking soda. Fill the tub about 1/4 full hot water, pour in about 2 cups baking soda. Then use a non-scratching scrubbie (e.g. a white 3M pad) to scrub around the tub. Drain the tub, then fill 1/4 full again with water to rinse.

I typically use Method shower spray to clean my tub. If there is yellow-orange mildew then I mix baking soda with bleach to make a thick paste and spread it only on the mildew and leave it on for 30 minutes then scrub the area and it gets it clean and white again.
