13:04-20 is easily one of the my favourite monologues by Garrett. It gives you a real insight into the underlying motivation behind what he did. He dedicated his life to S.H.I.E.L.D. and showed them absolute loyalty and faith, and they let him down right when he needed them most. It doesn't justify what he does later for Hydra, but it is still quite sad nonetheless.
Too bad they made him the villain, he was amazing and gave so much life to the show. Bill was good in whatever role he was given, and he will be missed tremendously.

8:19 I realize that was the earliest hint that Garrett was the Clairvoyant. When Coulson told him they learned the Clairvoyant was a S.H.I.E.L.D. Agent, he looked at Skye, correctly assuming that she was the one who figured it out.
Nope the very first hint might've been Garret boarding on SHIELD 616 (The Bus) after Ian Quinn shot Skye and Coulson was headed to the place where he himself was revived. The moment Garret and Ward stepped in to The Guest House, Project T.A.H.I.T.I. was out in open, as all the Hydra agents got to know about the place and the drug that revived Coulson in the first place.
Knowing how he is a top agent himself in his early days, it could be possible that there's already Hydra moles in SHIELD who actually aimed to 'break' him from the beginning that way. After all, twisting his trust and loyalty by making SHIELD accountable when it was them who ignored his med-evac request is definitely what Hydra would do. He is the perfect tool taking into account of manipulating his frustration and broken loyalty. Sometimes, I do wonder if he was saved just in time even though he is gravely wounded... and didn't carry as much grudge to the point of opting to join Hydra. He could have a different path, different way of preparing teenager Ward to work for him in person while digging through the truth of his med-evac request refusal ever since the incident. Then discovering it was Hydra might have spared him from being a monster he is.

If Ward was playing the victim, than so was Garrett. He recruited Ward into Hydra by telling him how S.H.I.E.L.D betrayed him when he stepped on an IED outside Sarajevo and he blamed shield for not calling in a med evac feeling like they were leaving him to die. This was why Garrett joined Hydra. He wanted revenge on S.H.I.E.L.D for them not helping him. This was Garrett basically saying that because of one instance where S.H.I.E.L.D did not get to him after he was hurt was worth an entire betrayal. He said that they gave him an earful of excuses. These excuses could have been valid and they might not have been able to get to him to med evac. These all show that Garrett thought he was the center of everyone's universe and if he found out that anyone chose anything over him, than he would betray them and possibly kill them. This also shows that he would not care who he had to hurt or kill to get what he wants. Ward is mad because he felt betrayed by Garrett who had Deadlok stop his heart and Ward almost died. This all show that everything Garrett is doing is for himself. He was willing to keep himself alive even if it meant killing Ward who was possibly the closest thing Garrett has to a son. It shows that he doesn't really care about Ward at all. He just sees Ward as his top soldier and can use him to get what he wants. He tells him to not be weak in this scene because he can't have Ward having doubts and having thoughts of betraying him. This means that he does not want Ward choosing anybody else over them. He wanted Ward to stay focused on him (Garrett) and on getting what he wants. Ward never actually saw what Garrett was doing to him because he was too thankful to Garrett for pulling him out of prison and for everything he taught him. He feels indebted to Garrett and he never could get past that.
13:47 How does Ward not know about Hydra? Isn’t Hydra something kids are taught about in school in this universe. Did Ward just fall asleep in that class? He should know what Hydra is.
Honestly they killed off the characters that made this show take off. That includes Paxton and Titus Welliver. They had lightening in a bottle then threw it away.
Check out the final season of AoS. It's pretty heavy sci-fi at that point but it brings a lot of dead characters full circle in a fairly satisfying way.
It's the same mistake they did in Captain America 2. Plot never needed hydra to be cool. It was already infiltration arc when Garret was the antagonist. Same was with Alexander Pierce. The guy who does not believe in current system.
