    Thank you Jr. I am just now getting back into bowling after a 30 year absence. The technical information matters! Since everything has changed so much, I look forward to all the tech talk on todays balls, and lane conditions. Thank you and keep up the good work.

      you came to the right place. I had not been bowling for more than 15 or more years and just came back this last fall. Watching theses and few other good you tubers. I started this past fall league around 150 average. I am up around 190 now but I more often have 600's now and I have had 4 or 5 700's. I even rolled a 298 not two long, I use to be a Okay bowler but I never had more than 1 or 2 balls. This year I have bought like 8 or 9. I figured out finally learned the differences in having solids or pearls and asymmetric and symmetric. Then I found that I throw Low Rg balls better because I do not have a high rev rate and they spin up easier. The differential of a ball basically tells the flare potential., Then a learned little changes in a drill like this I found makes a big difference even it does not track way different. Often if I am in the pocket and I just cant drop more than nine I will change to a similar or even the same exact ball with a different drill and I will carry and often the path does not look much different. No pro Bowler does uses one ball. Golf pro's have a bag full of clubs for different conditions. We do too. Some times you only need to change the angle the ball hits the pocket just a tiny bit. Building a arsenals and practice with them so you know when each ball is in play is a must in todays game.. Then you just got to match your conditions to a ball. This is when the 600's started coming.
      So much good advice on this channel, And if you are just getting back into it have your pro shop check your PAP ever now and again. Like before you drill any new ball. because they change and a lot after you nock some dust off your release and then learn new techniques. Not doing that is how I ended up with one ball that rolls over my thumb hole. Not a good thing.

    Jr here's a question I am a left handed bowler is a 5x4x2 a strong or weak layout?

    Where can I find that layout pencil lol These pencils that I use now are just terrible.

    Is there a ball reaction difference between putting the pin 2 1/4" before the 3 3/8" point and past the 3 3/8" point?

    • @dukeblue1987

      Closer to PAP lays the core down which gets the ball to hook earlier and less down lane. Further from PAP stands the core up which makes it go longer and hook more down lane. Flare amount should be pretty similar.

      @nordattack 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@dukeblue1987 What I mentioned above was 'same distance' from PAP. But one pin before and one pin after. What is the difference?

    • @dukeblue1987
      @dukeblue1987 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      If you put the pin 2 1/4 past your PAP it is possible the ball will flare backwards over your holes. Not good!

      @@dukeblue1987 I made a boo boo in my question above. I just corrected it! Sorry. Can you explain now please?

    • @dukeblue1987

      @@nordattack That is what I thought your original question was so here is my answer - "Closer to PAP lays the core down which gets the ball to hook earlier and less down lane. Further from PAP stands the core up which makes it go longer and hook more down lane. Flare amount should be pretty similar." 2 1/4 past 3 3/8 is 5 5/8 away from axis. 2 1/4 the other way would be 1 1/8 from axis. There are also some differences on if the ball is symmetric or asymmetric. You can read more on page 5 here: www.buddiesproshop.com/content/DualAngle.pdf

    Will that work for a full roller

    • @corbinesterak7837
      @corbinesterak7837 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Full rollers use completely different layout. I believe there's essentially only one layout for them. I know there's times that adjusting pitches can change a full roller to being a 3/4 roller

    I think it should be mentioned that on symms, the distance from the thumbhole (PSA) to the pin governs the value of the low RG axis, which affects track flare in the pin-to-spin zone. 6.75" is the lowest post-drilling RG for a given pin-PAP distance, and larger or smaller PSA-pin distances will tend to increase the RG value of the low RG axis. The VAL angle also governs the positions of the bowties and flare safety.
    So, in effect, the VAL angle has unique upper and lower limits for each bowler, based on initial track location, PAP and span. IMO, the dual angle system is ideally used as a measurement system, rather than a blind specification system. Personally, I prefer to use a compass when specifying a new layout, then convert to dual angles for convenience.

    If your pap is up why do you go down with it when laying out your ball?

      Have used 4 different pro shops over the years and none want to tell me their layout for the ball I'm buying. What's up with that 🤔
