    Bowling coach Hank Boomershine provides tips on the importance of a ball’s positive access point (PAP) and how to locate it. As a coach, understanding a player’s PAP helps them to understand what type of player they are dealing with, which in turn allows them to offer more individualized coaching instruction.

    The problem is that you can't get the PAP before drilling the ball

      Only if it’s your first ball.

    when we brought my dad ball in and he had that hole they said it was illegal

    • @athlonen
      @athlonen ปีที่แล้ว

      It is now, yes. They ruled balance holes in bowling balls to be illegal roughly 3 years ago, with it going into effect in 2019/2020. Any ball with them that is wanting to be used will have to be plugged and redrilled.

      @@athlonen I was under the impression that plugged balls were also illegal. If that's not the case, great! We all can't afford to buy spankin brand new bowling balls.

      @@phlllbthh illegal on the PBA tour. No one checking plugs in your regular league.

      In most cases, it only needs to be plugged, not necessarily re-drilled.

    If a player uses three different hand positions will the PAP change with each release?

    does it matter the type of ball used? like say can i use a plastic spare ball to locate my pap before drilling a reactive ball? or do i need to use a reactive from the start?

      Goofy "ask an expert" nonsense. Free answer: Yes you can use a spare ball to locate your PAP. Just got to throw it like you would a normal ball. Your PAP will be the same whether you use a spare ball, urethane or reactive to get your PAP measurement.

    I realize this video is about the PAP, but what's up with that balance hole? USBC rule states: "Balance holes will become illegal effective August 1, 2020." I haven't heard anything to the contrary from USBC since that rule went into effect. Did I miss something?

      He mentions that it's Lindsey Boomershines' favorite bowling ball, a Roto Grip Hysteria, which came out in 2014 and is no longer available. So, either they are using an old ball for demonstration purposes, or the video is already a few years old (likely the case).
