Find this video baffling: swapped my Golf GTI for a 1.8 CHR hybrid 3 years ago, sure the CHR is lethargic especially compared to my last car, but the fuel economy is fantastic and it is surprisingly good to drive too, I still haven't got bored with it after 3 years

I bought 1.8 CHR in 2022 and I love it and would buy another one. I agree about the engine noise but that’s down to the CVT gear box. I don’t even notice it now. If you increase speed gradually you don’t get that, it’s just when you put your foot down and as I do mostly city driving it’s not an issue. Fuel efficiency is great too. Can’t believe only 29% said they liked it.

  • @markmw123
    @markmw123 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +23

I have the 2.0 Excel and it has all the safety features including Blind Spot Detection and it’s great to drive, you just have to learn to drive differently because of the CVT gearbox, currently averaging around 60mpg and have had as much as 80mpg on a long journey also, it’s comfortable, feels solid, and runs quiet the only thing I wish it had was a panoramic roof but, the new 2024 model will have it 👍

As an owner of a 2023 CHR. I can guarantee this dude is a bluff. except from the relatively small trunk and the engine being a bit noisy if you really step on it, this beautiful SUV is a masterpiece in almost every aspect. I absolutely loved mine. I didn't buy it because I had kids. Instead, I bought it for its design, the quality of the interior and the fact that it didn't look like anything anybody else owned. No car is perfect, but this was for me. This car is not for everyone, but I doubt people would have bought it if they didn't like anything about it. If you are transitioning from an ICE car to a Hybrid, then the driving experience may require an adjustment. However, having owned C-HR I am doubtful that I will buy an ICE car again. In fact, I sold mine and bought a Lexus UX. And let's face it. Anyone within the M25 will soon only be able to travel at 20mph on 90% of main roads soon enough. So, the need for speed will be a long-lost concept. Finally, The Executive Chief Engineer of the C-HR is Hiroyuki Koba who personally tested the C-HR in various places throughout Europe, which is the reason why it drives so well.

The braking is good, and the mirrors alerted us if there was another vehicle along side of us so that the blind spots were no issue.I love this little car. I would buy it again.

Perfect car for a couple who don't need crotch goblin / luggage carrying space. C-HR is reliable, safe, comfortable & decent on fuel, I'd advise getting one with the excellent blind spot & rear cross traffic alert safety systems fitted. The adaptive LED headlights available on the higher spec versions are excellent at lighting the road ahead. The JBL audio system is also worth seeking out.

I have tried a 2 litre version and its very hard to find any fault with the design. It ran very quietly and returned just over 50 mpg. Seating position is perfect and plenty of room for passenger legs for normal height people. My only complaint with C-HRs (I've had two now) is the lack of equipment compared to other, often cheaper, cars. The shape I think is its biggest selling point, and the ride quality is nice enough and it's a really lovely car to drive (for an SUV), but I just picked up the newest Nissan Juke Hybrid and the level of equipment on that makes the C-HR look very very basic now.

Had an 18 plate Excel for the last three years and about to upgrade to a 21 plate excel this week. I absolutely love this car, suits my needs very nicely having driven Yaris' since 2005.... Despite other people's grumbles, the one thing you can guarantee and that's the Toyota quality and reliability... Back in 2005 I was told I would never look back and would always be a Toyota driver. The new C-HR I collect this week will have a further 12 years warranty on the batteries... I plan to get the 5 year HP over, and keep it a further 7 years when I reach retirement at 67, and it will probably keep it beyond that, but then I'll see if there's another car to treat myself to at retirement. The C-HR has given me three years of joy, and I look forward to many more.. Love it..!!

Surprisingly, this car is sharing too much thing with AE86, even if it not looks like that. Its chief engineer Hiroyuki Kobayashi says the same. It's an handling and grip masterpiece but with a terrible 1.8l atkinson cycle spiritless engine. It's like designed to be a high ride coupe sportcar but in the last minute updated as a hybrid family car. Toyota should offer upgrade packages from 1.8l to 2.0l 😅 The best thing about this car is very comfortable soft springs but still agile on handling, plus premium level sound insulation, and also ultra reliable with low consumption. Actually if you don't like it, you can't like prius or corolla as well. Basically 3 of them are almost the same car.

hahah. When it says "depress brake pedal" it means you needs to apply more pressure on the brakes.
The word "depress" in the message "Depress Brake Pedal" may seem counterintuitive at first, as it might be more common to say "press" or "apply" the brake pedal. However, in the context of automotive terminology, "depress" is a standard and accepted term for activating or engaging a pedal, particularly the brake pedal.
Thats why you was having trouble starting the car!

I think your missing the point, Admittedly mines the 2 litre and that can shift. It's style over substance, just as it was meant to be. I rarely carry rear passengers. It's not aimed at the average family man. It was basically a concept that went into production. the way to drive it properly is to accelerate and keep the power meter just on the edge of the power/ economy band and let it pick it's pace, floor it and you just waste fuel and the power unit sounds harsh.

I see what you mean. I think one issue is that many people bought the car for the style and just assumed it would do all the practical stuff simply because it’s a Toyota and then were surprised when it didn’t, which contributed to the results in the survey.

I personally think you made this car sound so bad when it isn't bad at all. This car for me is a joy and I'm an owner who understands that there is no perfect car which fits budget, performance and practicality at the same time. Every car we own has its bells and whistles which makes most of us change to different car models when time comes. Although I'm really surprised a lot of people (in C-HR groups) have kept faith in the C-HR and replaced theirs with another C-HR. Fascinating.

I don't worry about the backseat space as I drive in the front. So no problem, so don't understand why people who drive these have an issue with it.
But yes the engine noise is the only reason I'm not happy with mine.

Since a bus smashed into the rear of my BMW X3 a couple of days ago I got this one in the meantime. Parking the Toyota is a nightmare. You just get no feeling where the front but also the sides end. It is nuts. Never had this in more then twenty years. Much bigger cars (latest Audi A6 or the Skoda Superb eg.) were ways easier to handle than this one.

What's your version? My version is the Square and it has sensors at front and rear. It doesn't allow you to crash the rear, since it stops the car for you prior to reach the obstacle. I believe the Comfort series has no sensors, but take a look at your settings if it's another version. This car is the easiest thing to drive and park. And, believe me, my garage is the smallest you can imagine. I only have some centimeters to park and never had issues with it.

I own CHR no issue with parking. It's.super easy to park

    • @46andme
      @46andme 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

@@sinfoniasdeaco5959 The version was called "Germany Edition" and was pretty well equipped with parking sensors and a reversing camera. The problem here was parking forwards in a narrow garage. In my garage, literally every centimeter counts and makes the difference as to whether the driver's door can still be opened or not. You probably won't believe it, but it really is much easier to navigate the X3 into the garage than the Toyota because the dimensions (although larger) of the BMW are much easier to judge.

  • @ElQuico

    This video is misleading.
In reality, the valid complaints someone can have from CH-R is that
    1. it doesn't have the biggest boot -should be bigger-
    2. it is not super fast, yes it is not a sports car! (but faster than my 2012 ford focus though) It is the e-cvt feel and way of operation.
    3. Yes it can be a bit claustrophobic at the back.
    ...and that's it.
All the rest you 're referring to is nonsense. Built quality is excelent. I can make 3.8-4.0 l/100km (72-75 mpg) driving in the city, without over trying.
It corners superbly, it handles amazingly, it rides over bumbs amazingly, it is such a smoot, comfort ride.
The noise of the thermal engine is minimal, it is just that is so quite when it is going electric that you notice it. But to be honest I can barely hear mine...
Up to 120-130 on the motorway is silent after that yes you hear some noise if you are such a sad person and driving without music on. I have the JBL version with a woofer on the back and the sound is superb! My infotainment system is updated by Toyota (Greece) for free and it contains maps and it is not slugish at all. My battery guarantee has been extended to 11 years. My basic service (check, oil, filters) is dead cheap.
I do not believe only 29% would buy again.

For someone who claims to review cars. The reason you 'had' to put the key next to the start button is because the keyless start was possibly disabled.
Also since launch these are everywhere.
The plug in pruis is the one that claims over 200mpg.
Seriously get your facts together properly.
The GR sport has tighter suspension and is a good drive and tight round the corners compared to the dynamic which was my previous model.

He's spot on. Thats why I gave mine back, terrible blind spots and driving visibility. I could never tell how far away I was from the curb and couldn't get used to the car and I've owned many cars that I eventually get used too.. not this .

Buying a black one today, picking it up in a few days, super nice car. This guy had a shit model the one I got has leather interior, sports wing, no hybrid it's a 1.2l turbo and Toyota is the best for reliability and accessibility to parts, super excited to pick it up and then I see this clickbait video, and try not to hear what he's saying hahaa, comments also tell me this is a wise decision

I drove a very new Corolla hybrid recently and had same issues. Noisy CVT gearbox, lots of road noise (Excel) and Stereo was shite. Very disappointed. Pushy and slightly smug salesman tried to talk me in to buying it with BS comments like 'The road noise will fade away in time, you wont notice it' and 'Is the stereo really that important?' Er yes!
