      @@TheDaxter11 For some reason Sony seems more interested in using the gyro for stupid gimmicks instead of actually enhancing the gameplay with gyro aim. It's really sad, honestly. This is the #1 reason I would get a Steam Controller.
    2 things as a Splatoon player: the quoted video is fairly out of date, almost every competitive player uses gyro aiming simply because you can aim much more quickly.
    While BotW executes it well for what it needs, in Splatoon you are constantly aiming at something. If the analog stick allowed for vertical turning, the motion controls would feel "uncalibrated" more often. Zelda only needs to kick in the gyro in small increments (this is also why the steam controller turns them off)

    Hopefully motion controls will continue to improve. I can say for a fact they aren't being fully taken advantage at the moment. You can create a more responsive and precise motion control setup with the Switch Pro Controller on PC with Steam than what devs have made for games on Switch. So far every Switch game with motion controls has implemented non-changeable settings that reduce shakiness which to be fair is nice for those that have difficulty holding the controller steady, but it comes at a price of reduced responsiveness. And yes, this effects even Splatoon.
    Ideally games that support motion controls would include customized settings such as smoothing, acceleration, independent x/y sensitivities, minimum movement thresholds (which works like deadzone for gyro), sensitivity toggles (like when zooming in), etc.
    Beyond that there's also potential for different style options. Such as:
    1 - Dual Analog + Motion
    2 - Motion + Quick Turn
    3 - Motion + Motion Toggle Button (In this sort of setup the toggle button turns off motion controls while held. It's comparable to picking up a mouse off the pad to reset it so you have more room to continue to move it. On its own anyway it requires more "motion" effort than the others.)
    And you can have combinations of the above.

    • @hypelevelgames9030
      @hypelevelgames9030  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I fully agree. These options should be the standard in "every" game that relies heavily on the right analogue stick and motion controls. Much like almost every game lets you chose between inverted and normal Y axis movement while aiming/moving the camera.

    Did you even play Splatoon? Because if you're ONLY using the gyroscope, you're doing it wrong. To play well, you need to use both the analog and gyroscope. You use the analog for turning and 'rough aiming' to the left and right. Then you use the gyroscope for finetuning your aim. Mostly up and down, but also some adjustments to the left or right when necessary.

    • @hypelevelgames9030
      @hypelevelgames9030  7 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      Thank you for your comment. I realize that I should have explained that a bit more accurately.
      What I meant was:
      You can play Splatoon with analogue sticks ONLY. In this mode you aim 100% with the right analogue stick: UP/DOWN & LEFT/RIGHT. You cannot use motion controls in this mode.
      Or you can play with motion controls. In this mode you cannot aim UP/DOWN with the right analogue stick - instead you are forced to use the motion controls to do so.
      When motion controls are turned on in Breath of the Wild, they don't exclude any of the stick controls. You can still aim UP/DOWN & LEFT/RIGHT with the stick and then finetune your aim with the motion controls.
      It might not seem like a big difference, but it is definitely noticeable during gameplay. In Splatoon you're excluding a whole control scheme or parts of a control scheme when choosing between modes and in Breath of the Wild both control schemes complement each other.

    • @thenonexistinghero
      @thenonexistinghero 7 ปีที่แล้ว +11

      You don't really need to use up & down with the analog sticks in Splatoon though. I've played both Zelda BotW and Splatoon for well over 100 hours and the aiming is simply done a lot better in Splatoon.
      There's a good reason why almost no one complains about not being able to fully aim with the motion controls, and that's because the aiming works extremely well. Giving full aiming to both opens you up to all kinds of potential screw ups. Instead of giving access to 2 complex tasks that do the same, it's better to divide 1 complex task into 2 simple tasks. The human mind simply works better like that.

      I think heathrowqueue's MGS gameplay video (@ 1:07 ) perfectly demonstrates how fast motion controls plus stick controls can be. You don't have to swing your arms, it's just small movements that add some precision to the very unprecise stick controls. So I'd argue that this kind of control scheme would make console shooters more competitive and move them closer to the PC mouse/keyboard setup.

    • @chan13153
      @chan13153 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Many fast past FPS/3rd person shooters on the switch has it and it works really well. Doom, Paladins, Fortnite, Warframe, Wolf 2, Splatoon 2. After using Gyro aiming I can't go back to only twin sticks. It's not only easier to aim but makes the game alot more fun.

  • @jmmyjimmy106
    @jmmyjimmy106 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Precise controls huh? 1:32 - 27 arrows in quiver 3 targets, jump cuts to last target with 16 arrows left. 11 arrows for 3 targets, nice.

    • @hypelevelgames9030
      @hypelevelgames9030  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Precise controls doesn't mean I'm good at aiming.

    • @daniloberserk
      @daniloberserk 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      You realize that arrows aren't hitscan weapons on that game right? While it might be pretty easy to just match the movement of the targets, it's quite difficult to hit some of those korok challenges because of erratic movement.
      It's easier with something like a Golden Bow.

    I will personally like to see motion control as option but not forshing the player the don't want that.
    However problem that because not every controller hava tha is not easy for developers to add motion controls.
    For example im working on multiplayer fps game that play up 4 players on the same device however wail unity provide my opinion to add stck mouse ECT.
    I haven't found easy way to add motion as option.
    I know it able to add motion control for mobile phone and probably for VR controller.
    The don't have motion control option for switch controller's and PS4 controller as far I'm award.
    Yes it may be possible if download some form IP but unity don't found motion as default input like it does with mouse stick ect.
    I personally hope Xbox controller 🎮 to motion control because if add that
    It will be only matter off time before unity adds motion control with out need work around.

    It's too sensitive to over sight with either the regular or the pro Switch controllers for me. Horizon Zero Dawn with the PS4 is much much more precise, and I might add, realistic - I use a bow, that's why I know.

    • @chan13153

      Look at the footage in the video. I'm not waving my hands like a madman. In fact, I'm barely moving them. This is high-precision aiming that requires small and precise movements.

    I mean, come on, you take a year to aim on target, and your aiming is wobbly. How can that be better than your typical kid slaying heads left and right with astonishing precision and speed on Call of Duty or whatever game is in vogue, with the analog stick that is?

    • @jonathand.4088
      @jonathand.4088 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Because Call of Duty has to use a crap ton of aim assist to make up for the imprecise nature of a tiny analog stick. The game does half the work

    • @SilverRyuu
      @SilverRyuu 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      That's mostly aim assist. Most games that use analog sticks have some form of aim assist and other tricks to make you think you have pRo gAmEr sKilLz xD. Games with gyro/mouse input don't use those same tricks.

    • @chan13153
      @chan13153 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It's called aimbot. You want to see how good analog sticks really are. Play CS:Go, Insurgency sandstorm using an analog stick against people with mousse and keyboard. Then come back and tell me how great your precious analog sticks are without aimbot.
