- Heading out on the San Francisco Bay in search of the herring spawn that happens annually. If I time it right I can get enough bait to last me for a year in less then a hour.

Nice to see that old glass boat still in service. Cool. Get-em!
I love that you included the mistakes made at the beginning (didn’t let sink it to the bottom) and showed some humility. Cast netting can be very intimidating.
Thanks for being honest and great job.
Everyone loves Chris!
It’s an honor to see you guys out there side by side Chris and Eric. Seeing you guys is my biggest catch that day sir !! Love your videos . Super excited sending your video link to all my family and friends that I made it on your video !!! Super awesome !! ❤
SEAFOOD!! haha, good seeing you too!

Really cool to see you out there, Chris! My wife and I caught a bucket that day - super fun, thank you for the inspiration and information to get out! Shoutout to my buddy John for recommending your channel to us!
Oh yeah perfect size for hailbut ! Great job buddy you killed it love watching the videos 👍🏻
Love your videos Chris. If you need a bigger boat in the meantime, feel free to hit me up. I will take you out. I have a new Defiance 220ex berthed in Marin. Cheers.
Frisbee net was productive, got some every cast👍Good job!
Watching you fish out of that boat reminds me of fishing with my grandfather back in the 60s out of his 16foot dumpfy wood Boat
Getting after it n learning on the fly👍Ur a game fun dude Chris n its fun watching you do ur thing man, continued success👍🎣
You worked for em but it looks like fun👍🎣
Love yer vids bud! GR8 day out there! Hopin to get to meet up with you at the show tomorrow! Will have to see how the knees are doin in the morning. See you're mostly in the Pavilion, so it might not be too hard a walk for me. Take care and tight lines! ~Chris
Another great video Chris! Killin it! Fav channel.
Wow, you can get a lot of small fishing nets, great my friend 👍 13:47
Good video nice to see Eric I'll see you tomorrow at The show😊
Nice haul!
Super fun video. Thanks for the inspiration! I gotta try this in Tillamook Bay.
Absolutely love that boat !!!
My dad would never get that close to shore with his boat, especially with rocks showing. But just think if you’re casting your net off the shoreline.
Stripers might be also chasing the bait towards shore.
Bring a small anchor next time and keep motor on idle it helps a lot. The anchor I use is like a 15lb plastic anchor Idk where i got it from. But I doubt u will get snagged on the rocks though bc I do it all the time in the bay
Very nice. I plan on stocking up myself..looks like i should practice with a cast net before heading out. Not as easy as I thought!
yeah not a bad idea, harder to practice in the moment. Good luck
Not quite as exciting as Bluefin Tuna fishing but looks like a lot of fun in the future. Thanks for the video.
That’s pretty cool really good back to what I like to do is actually put them on a rock salt water slush Settles him down, pretty quick, sell knock off too many scales and also Help tighten up the scales when use for bait
Dude you need to invite me next year to teach you on a cast net throwing technique. I fish lake Texoma and I always net my bate first thing.
Very nice bagging and separating for the future!! There's always lots more work at home after any catch. It looked like the bucket was much more efficient than the net for boating herring!!! What will be your new boat????
yes someone handing you a full bucket is most efficient! 🤣🤣
You had the best rigged skiff in the SF area. How/will can you improve on that? WOW! And my first response from you!! @@ChrisPfish2
Hey Chris. Enjoying the videos. Hey if some one was coming from Sacramento, what would be a good place to launch to fish San Francisco Bay. Thanks.
berkley marina. thanks for watchin. Just check the wind forecast. If your newer to boating on the bay, you need/want low wind or it gets real choppy.
I was out on Richmond pier last weekend caught just enough for bait then dipped
You need some of those Florida boys there too show you how to do it.they throw 10to12ft nets an fill up that bucket in two to three throws.
yeah I have no experience doing it. I practiced at home a little... getting better
You know, I like the way you think 🤔
Hard work. Hard work. Luv the channel. P.S. you should have at least tried, a couple of attempts, to throw the real net.
I missed the part where you sold your boat, are you upgrading?
yes, upgrading to a new North River. I will talk about it in my next video. Thanks for watching
What is the best time of the year for netting the hearings? When does it end?
Dec-Feb
@@ChrisPfish2 Awesome. Thanks!
Looks like you get kinda wet using a cast net, but it was productive.
You don't need to have water to practice a cast net. You can do it in your backyard.
yup thats why at 8:23 I say I need to practice on my lawn. Thanks for watching
I think they starve the herring to keep the belly"s from blowing out
you need to do that for anchovies. Not herring. Herring are much hardier, don't fall apart, can use same bait trolling for an hour and it basically looks the same. There will probably be some comments you need to brine them too. I didnt starve them or brine them last year and the bait worked just liked the trays you buy at the store. It is possible the herring have empty stomachs because there spawning but I dont know.
Ok well long time puget sound fisherman here and the herring we bought usually said they were starved@@ChrisPfish2
Enough bait for like a week lol
