I got the collector's edition and gold edition on steam. I usually don't do preorders and buy games on sale, but being czech and having participated in kickstarter for KCD i believe this is just way to go to support the devs.
I only buy the games I really... REALLY want full price. That being said I remember KCD1 being something like $29.99 or $39.99. That is practically half off out of the gate for an amazing value. KCD2 is promising to be almost twice as big so the price reflects that. I am looking forward to exploring 1403 Bohemia again and get completely lost in it!
Debating on getting the collectors but I wish it came with the art book. I’m probably gonna get the gold edition. Definitely pre-ordering though, I loved KCD1!
Preordered the gold edition. I am excited, I hope they optimize it properly and iron out the bugs, which I believe they will, they still have almost 6 months and they are aware of kcd1 controversies at launch
My husband and I both pre-ordered as soon as it was available. The Gold Edition. We didn't even know about the Collector's Edition, or one of us would've ordered that. But we're looking forward to it, to say the least. My husband scheduled his winter vacation to begin the week of KCD 2 release. We can't wait. The first KCD is my favourite game of all time, so there was no question for me at all when it came to pre-ordering. (We also pre-ordered the first one.) We also don't pre-order games as a general rule, but both of the games are absolutely incredible and worth every penny.
As luck would have it I will have that week off too. Take the same week off every year pretty much. When I saw the date and checked the calendar I was like: YES! Incidentally the sole reason I picked up KCD1 was the fact I had that week off and was looking for something to play. I had heard about KCD and how people complained about the combat. I decided to take a chance on it and after the first hour I was hooked. Played for hours every day.
Usually im against pre-ordering but I can make an exception for companies with a good track record or of I know that the product will be good. You'll never see me pre-ordering anything from Bethesda EA or Activision but for companies like Warhorse and maybe Rockstar yeah I'll pre-order it by like the product. The real make or break of this seems to be if you can anticipate yourself liking the DLCs or not since that's what the Gold edition gives you. If you're not sure if you'll like the DLCs or anything, I'd say, wait for more information or don't free order the Gold edition
There is always a chance when it comes down to DLCs. But it no doubt is going to be cheaper to get gold vs getting the expansion pass later on or pay a-la-carte for the DLCs as they come out. And in KCD1 the quests added a lot of depth to the characters and the world so I expect the same.
@@TheDutchTexanGames Yeah I really like the DLCs And I'm hoping the ones we get for kcd2 are similar to the ones from kcd1 I would especially love another from the Ashes type DLC. Yes it would probably be cheap to just get the Gold edition rather than buy them separately as they are launched but a royal 2.0 edition will be released at some point which will be like 15$ so it's also a patience factor. But if you're going to pre-order the game, the Gold edition definitely has more value for an extra 20 bucks. I'm curious what this Hunter pack and the seasons of Shields is about.
Those are both cosmetics and weapon related, I mention it in the video. The Hunter pack is no doubt going to help you in stealth missions and the seasons of shields is shield customization so the expectation is being able to create your own shield. I'll keep it simple with the heraldry of my birth town.

Glad Warhorse gives you that option though, some games require quests like that to be played completely and that would have likely resulted in me putting the game down. I couldn't stand that quest. My brother in law loved it for some reason!
I've pre-ordered the Gold Edition since the collector's edition was a little too expensive for me, but I see the price as totally being good for all that you get!!! :) I have yet to complete KCD1, but rn I'm progressing through the timed quests and then I'll be going into Vranik! :) I'm so excited for this game, and I didn't know about the customization of the shields!!!!
