Great video. Picked up the game during a sale and recently began playing. Spent like 2-3 hours just messing around in Skalitz to get a better feel for the game before continuing on, I reckon I'll do some of the things here but not others to not have a completely easy first playthrough.
tbh, you don't need to do any of this imo. What I suggest is speedrun until you reach rattay, do the first Peshek quest to unlock his inventory; get your lockpicking to level 6 for that 'luck of the drunk' perk. Rob the armour shop in Rattay (easy to do in broad daylight, just remove all of your clothes for that 0 noise). Dump all of that loot in Peshek's inventory chest. Wait 2-3 days for him to sell all of the loot and take his money from the chest. You can of course rob the other stores in Rattay. I was able to get near maxed out gear and 100k groschen in 1.5 hours. Don't do this if you want to enjoy the game; I only did this so that I could speedrun the game for achievements.
Not sure if you are reading this, but if you want to turn all your stolen gear into coin, just sell everything to the Apothecary in Rattay. After a day or two, he sells everything you sold him, and he gets a massive amount of coin that you can simply steal from the back of his shop, accessed through the alchemist bench.
Easier to do it with Peshek TBH. He has the same thing and he only has 1 chest right by his house. This does apply to any merchants in the game though, just each have varying degrees of how easy their invetory chests are to access
@@Strat-Guides That's correct, but you get double the money from the Apothecary instead of Peshek. That's why I suggested it-it's more efficient. The amount of money the trader gets from overselling is based on what the trader would have given you for that. Peshek always gives you a very low amount compared to normal traders.
Thank you. I started KCD a couple times and never got very far because i just felt overwhelmed and didn't have time to really stink into learning it back then (now i do and I'm excited to try again with this guide under my belt).
Great info. But as a first playthrough, it’s a slog carrying all that weight everywhere. You fail to mention it takes great patience walking around that slow with all that weight lol but still yet, it’s gave me a better start than when I did it on my own.
Hey again, while trying this, it said to get the lockpicks from our friends for looting the Deutch's house--before doing the manure mission. Problem is, you get the lockpicks FROM doing the manure mission. Must be missing something, I don't know how to get a lockpick without that mission 5:07
You can get the lockpicks before then too - you need to make sure you don't beat the old man up, walk up to his chest and get the dialogue about Fritz giving lockpicks. The go immediately to the tavern, after the cut scene talk to Fritz before he runs off and you'll get them!
@@Strat-Guides Ah huge! thank you, thought that cutscene always went immediately into throwing manure. Realized there was an option to say "no, not about it". Managed to get all of Deutsch's loot even after it too! He carried away firewood and I had enough time for both chests

thank you for this guide! new player here, i’ve been watching some popular guides from years ago and then i found out some of them already got patched. So this one really helped me, everything is more clear and simple to follow
It's actually possible to take out the bailiff without actually alerting the ground. In the drinking animation when the npc sitting to his left looks away just exactly before that hold F the NPC will not be looking at that moment and u'll be able to knock and quickloot the bailiff easily.😂😅
It is but it's inconstant, I've had sometimes it worked and others it didn't so I figured an easy escape, wanted or not was the best way to explain and make it accessible for others to try. Having split second timing in a guide is something I try to avoid just to not close the possibility off for others. But if you can do it without being wanted, more power to you!
@@Griff_Gaming Agreed, whether or not u do it that way it just affects the reputation which will be of no use as the town'll only not exist after that😂
I always pick flowers in the very beginning. Having the leg day perk is really helpful, especially if you are on hardcore mode with all negative perks. The flower power and resistance perks are also fantastic.
Another tip idk if he mentioned, it doesn't cost anything to save and quit so if you suck like I do at lockpicking save before you attempt and after so you don't run out of lockpicks.
@@dannysavage1853 actually it does cost a savior schnapp (100 groshen per bottle in stall) to save in vanilla (without mods) if you save without sleeping at camp/your room. considering with how many doors and chest to picks, it will cost alot 😅
sry, didnt realise you meant by *save & quit* instead of the regular save. but it will take a much longer time since you have to face more loading time from quitting the game and then reloading the saved data
@@asrafkhalid1231 yes it does but I am so bad at lockpicking if I don't I will brake all 4 you get in the first two chests that are easy. So for me it's a fair trade off.

For those who use controllers, I recently heard (idk where but it was another KCD TH-cam video guide) that you can just change your grip on the right thumb stick. Gripping it between your thumb and index gives you finer control of the movement.
I was able to get all of the ones he mentioned with the four lockpicks except for the hard lock in the chamberlain's room of Talmberg. It takes a bit of luck, honestly. I'd use a savior schnapps probably halfway through grabbing the chests. If you run out of lockpicks before the poacher's one, you can buy more from the Votava dude in Talmberg
I had started this game a couple of times and got as far as the training in Rattay, and I felt disheartened that the game was too complicated for me. Not only did this video tech me a couple of exploits to help along the way, but it gave me the confidence to delve into the actual mechanics, and now it's got to be up there in my top 3 facorite games of all time. I can't thank you enough!
i just got this game other day on january 1st free on epic. its crazy because it was only available for like 1 day? i happened to see a random news alert (one of those "free games you can get now on epic" etc articles). I had never played and kind of remember this being a big deal when it came out. but in 2024 its still amazing! graphics, story, enviroments. I am a cheater/modder type so I of course dug into the files, got about 20 mods, cheats, lists and tweaks to make everything smooth/quick as can. I tend to just get through most games quickly, for story and it might not be a challenge per se, i still have a blast. I have far to many games to play still, and not enough hours in the day to do it in. But this game is incredible. I have made it to rattay twice now (started over when i seen this video...my first run was...not good). And now i am going to stick with it and 100% it someday. Getting it for free was best part. Thanks epic games. I need to buy the DLC's though but only a few dollars, and from what i have read/seen they are all worth getting.
Was going through steam sales and saw this plus DLC for $7, grabbed it, played, cried, a lot, complained about how the game was broken because I still don't quite understand the mechanics, kept trying and now I'm ready for the true Henry experience. 2nd game is gonna be great.
My first time playing this, I wanted to love it but I didn’t even get out of the starter town. I got frustrated with Kudush(?) because I thought I was gonna feed him a quick 6 piece and it turned into a comedy of errors including the guards and a beatdown. Fast forward years later. I’m playing blind with intentions to start another save to play parallel. Everything is blind still up to the first town, stealing the guard stuff to get out. I just got out of that town and stopped. Can’t wait to do the walk through play
same... getting kicked by kunesh in the first playthrough is an eye opener. here i thought he was just a punching bag but henry is the one that got his ass handed to himself (and i didnt know how to jab/block)
I didn't even know you could do so much in Skalitz, let alone that picking herbs is for anything. Got totally lost after i did the quests miller peshek. Felt weak, lacking and all. These kind of tutorials would ruin a "first time run", but i think it's neat to get some perspective. Something clicked and i started training my swordfight a bit, finally got a hang on leveling and got some orientation. Loved the game but lost focus 2 years ago, after i got lost. Continued my save recently with these kind of guides and now it just flows.
Ahhh picking all the plants brings back memories. i loved that grind for some reason but as soon as combat was introduced the learning curve was too steep. bring me back to the nettles and dandelions lol
Combat can def be difficult, what I say is try to get to around the first big battle (in Priby). If it's still impossible then there's that but the beginning you're so undertrained it's jarring. I think KCD 2 will do much better at leveling that curve out to make it more accessible
@@HanganakaNak once your herb skill is a certain level you can hold the button and collect from the general area (the area getting larger the higher your skill is) That's from memory though! I've not played in like 2 years and only put something like 10 hours into the game lol
@@bim_94 i know you can pick more and more when u get to a certain level but, he took them like he was taking stuff off ground, it normally plays an animation
I have the complete opposite experience, learning combat was fine for me, but gathering herbs? Not at all, I barely notice any herbs whilst im travelling, but I can at least do some alchemy if I look at the book every second
Being trash at lockpicking, this was quite hard for me. Currently at talmberg, walking with 160kg, because I don't have enough Groschen to buy a bed, in order to get a safe chest. The lockpicking system is killng me.
On Xbox, currently in my experience, they quietly patched the guy forking hay in the beginning to be invincible to stealth knock outs, and will ruin your reputation and run away if you try to fist fight him (I didn’t wait further to see if he ran for the guards or not, I reset my game from there.) So if anyone’s ‘having trouble with stealth knockouts’, that’s the only problem. Just ignore that guy unfortunately. Not sure why they did this just prior to KCD2 coming out, but they clearly did.
@ Well, I did multiple save scums all throughout the process, and he was one of the sole people who I could never knock out no matter what. Even the guards just needed to be caught unaware. Could just be a thing on Xbox. I was reading apparently the Xbox forums for the game were abandoned, which does NOT speak good the bug side of things might be. (And yeah, went to Talmberg, right after finishing the cutscene, suddenly, my every breath was considered ‘rude’ while I was just trying to get something to eat in the kitchen, and my rep plummeted for seemingly no reason.) Still going through with it though, since I suck PC side, and I refuse to get a PS5 (got one at launch (got lucky and followed the tips, f^ck scalpers) and decided it wasn’t for me) so Xbox is one of the only ways to go. I can’t imagine trying this out on the switch XD
My tips: 1. In the beginning, found a corner that can’t jump(stocked) in Henry’s house. Continuously jump at that corner, you will rise vitality quickly. A higher vitality makes you exercise better 😂 2. You don’t have to carry all those junks to Rattay for money. If you had 6+ lockpicking and learned luck of the drunk. The first night in Rattay(or maybe some other days after have the skill), sneak into smith armorer tayler shop steal all of their merchandises. Sneak into alchemist’s shop , store all stolen items into his chest. Wait outside till 9 or 10 am. When he opens the store, the chest updates and changes those items to money. Sneak to his chest again, gets 3-40k gorsens. 3. Kill Johanka before meet henry’s friends in front of deutch’s house. The guard won’t come because Johanka died and wouldn’t call them😂 And then the game is bugged, you can hit all those 6 boys as you wish. You can train all your weapons skills to 20 including str and agi. And remember this game is bugged….you can only save and load again one and only one chance after this…the game will be halted after 2nd load game. So get out of this town asap after you prepared.
Thank you for the guide! it's very detailed yet straight to the point. It inspires me to redo everything again. I ended up spending 2 hours to perfect all lockpick at Skalitz though lmao
You actually can beat up Kunesh and still get the lockpick. Just don't take the keys after that. Check the chest, take keys and after that you still can ask your friends to beat him up with you (for fun)
Lockpicking without losing a single pick is a tall freaking order. That part of the guide is only useful for like experts in the game already i guess...
Was going to give you a like anyway for this amazing guide, but as soon as you made that joke about the SS and slopped roofs, I couldn't hit the like button fast enough lol.
It's a joke, a sick, sick joke. I'm going to wait and see if kcd2 has the same mechanic, if so I'm saving my money and waiting until it's free on psplus lol.
Only played this first level once. It took like 30 hours due to all the "starting guides" available, and my ocd. I quit playing it after that. With this guide, I'm going to give it another shot.
very good video, .. I don't know how I miss that game, found it browsing for cheap keys and found it's complete version for about usd3 and found about it's second one coming early next year, .. Thanks for the good video.
Don't back down on your dreams and goals strat. Nothing is perfect 😊 but its important to get failures becoz that is what will make you better and good prospect in the youtube community. Keep it up
The intro of this game is brutal (story wise). Live with your parents, work as an apprentice blacksmith with your dad, in a beautiful little village, protected by decently geared guards to thwart bandits. You hate the people here, but deep down, you actually care about them. Then some random bald asshole knocks on your village gates with an entire army to take down an Empire, raids your village that got your parents killed right in front of you. Guards can't hold the fort against 100+ trained soldiers, you have to abandon ship. Then come back to village a few days later, village is now a Bandit Sanctuary. Henry is sad and angry, player feels the same
9:05 Grabbing the horse. I watched another TH-camr and found out you can ALSO get a HUGE load of Armor/Weapons/etc, by attacking/whistling the guards, then Horse back ride and forth to KILL all the Kumash with the sword, near the house that (30 or more) then LOOT em. Ive seen it done, but DAM its tough to do.
I remember when it came out you could go to the sword training and just spent five minutes blocking blows and building up a huge amount of strength. Then you go to the guy who owes you money and beat the snot out of him. I think they patched that out of the game.
Narrator says, most guides have you picking flowers for hours on end, i am going to show you how to get your stuff in 2 hours...Starts picking nettles for ages.
Love Griff's speedy detailed help, but I only got 1 lockpick from Fritz. Broke that, so all the stuff I'm sposed'ta steal in Tamberg I can't get to....natch, it's gotta be me!
The amount of times I've been to skallitz to kill the bandits, knights and merchants is unreal. I have so much money saved up, so much armor and weapons that I don't know what to do with them all.
It is possible to level up Herbalism up to 10 before finishing the Sword. At the point, there are two perks to consider at 10. Botanist, which makes herbs sold at 15% higher, or Leg Day which gives Strength Experience when you gather herbs. Which is the preferred perk out of the two?
Leg Day, 100%. Most herbs are sold for 0.1 groschen so not only do you rarely profit from that one, you also need to have a LOT of herbs to actually benefit and find correct buyers to sell to. The order should always be Flower Power at level 5, Leg day at level 10, then you can pick whatever you want at level 15 and 20 since both the others are both kinda meh
nice guide to get well equiped and ready to roll :) on the first playthrough i would advise to take some time and get to know the world a little tho.. if you want to have unlimited time you can also glitch / leave the starting area and travel the world while beeing in the prolog
For sure! The story def is worth experiencing at a slower pace so you can soak it in! Just started a hard-core playthrough (1st one) min maxing in skalitz cos it's GUNNA be rough dealing with a 1vs many in hard-core the first couple times, 😂 need to get that combat training up once I'm outta the intro, for now I'm picking flowers, thinning out the guards a little bit and a few annoying npcs whos routes will become a liability when I begin leveling my lock picking,,(I use tge merchants store method, go upstairs pick the easy chest, jump about a bit make noise ect, gaurd from out front comes upstairs, locks the door on his way bk out after taking a look, fastest way I've found so far with the least running around, then I'll empty every locked chest in the town, do yeah another inventory dump in the chest n get ready to go power level strength and stuff,,, 😅gunna be DAYS before I'm getting ready to kill every killable cuman 😂

When training with Bernard and doing the wrong combo - when I do the right one and succesfully end the training, will I not be able to do that lesson again to keep farming with the wrong combi?
Yes you can! It's just after you do the correct combo 3 times he will end the training. Or you can milk it by doing the wrong one about 10-15 times before he ends it
The stuff in Skalitz, leave in the living room chest in Henry's home, it'll be there when you go back to Skalitz to bury your parents, then pick it up.
This is a great video after the channel changes!!
Also, the first guide I saw that is not about punching cows lol, great job!
Thanks Harahgon!
Thank you. I started KCD a couple times and never got very far because i just felt overwhelmed and didn't have time to really stink into learning it back then (now i do and I'm excited to try again with this guide under my belt).
perfect. just what i need for my next run.
Glad you liked it and hope it helps!
KCD is sooo well made
Hopefully KCD 2 is even better!
Great info. But as a first playthrough, it’s a slog carrying all that weight everywhere. You fail to mention it takes great patience walking around that slow with all that weight lol but still yet, it’s gave me a better start than when I did it on my own.
First vid after the "selling" channel vid. Not bad, the quality is the just as great as you said it would be. Looking forward for more content
Thank you! Glad you enjoyed!
@butters4204 Yeah I think you mightve missed a step somewhere, I've JUST NOW been following this to the letter and am the proud owner of some shiny new lock picks, and I've not done more than grabbed the herbalist perk stuff, spoke to kunesh and knocked out the guy by my house n robbed him, (3rd time now I want that stealth UP before moving on,) I personally keep returning to drop all my stolen stuff off at the chest cos the habits a good one to have in this game, fully intending on now going to see the missus at the boozer and then going to rob every chest I can access and unlock everything unlockabke with the picks, Then it's sword training and then more burglary... then I'll go grab the stolen gear n sell whatever I have that's perishable or I know I won't use, GOTTA remember the horse with the green saddle cloth tho,, and I'm gunna take the cumin out once I leave skalitz and do a hitman style exfil *that's a thing you can do in game fyi,, just dont target lock onto him and do the one big hit overhand like 6 or 7 times, take all bros stuff and the rest of em barring the guys being a lil rapey *which we'd REALLY like to take out but can't cos we are so dam SQUISHY still and then it's run away from them time and wait till you get hot in the leg n then take the noble saddle and bridal thing and hey presto onwards to the tournament and then waiting till the night prior and knocking out every contestant and taking all the gear off em, (makes winning a fkn breeze and you got a few thousand groshen for you're trouble,, just mind n leave the castle by the upper gate and take the hill to the right to box around the town till ypu reach the miller's place where you have a chest, dump everything, gear up, go bk to take part in the tourney and do that another what? 7 times? (Get a full set of pretty good armour, a shield and a wepon, plus 400 groshen each win, and you can bet the Miller you'll win which slightly more than doubles the purse,,,,
Loved it Griff! Best as always 🫡
Thanks Panther! Great to see ya here!
@@Griff_Gaming I'm very much into bannerlord aswell so yeah I watch strat alot 😂 and now that u and flesson have arrived I bet this channel will be better than it ever was

I hope so, there's a lot packed in and a Notion page so you can follow along in the description!
For the Shout out on the secret service🐊
You're the man Cesar, thank you so much!!!
Ive been watching your previous guide sooo many times over the past week. Thank you for making this update!
thank you for this guide! new player here, i’ve been watching some popular guides from years ago and then i found out some of them already got patched.
@@dannysavage1853 this is money and I refuse to support those woke freaks at nexus cucks.
It will take some time to get used to voices other than Strat's on this channel. Anyway, thanks, good video, I like it. Nice one Griff. GG
Strat face reveal incoming??
Thanks! That's why I made sure to put "Not Strat" in there, didn't want people freaking out that it was the Strat face reveal lol
For those who use controllers, I recently heard (idk where but it was another KCD TH-cam video guide) that you can just change your grip on the right thumb stick. Gripping it between your thumb and index gives you finer control of the movement.
How can you pick 20 chests with only 4 picking tools from Fritz?
@@g0urmetg752 because they didn't break due to successful lockpicking, so he can use them over and over.
I'm glad it helped!!
@Strat-Guides Cheers! It clearly didn't help with my spelling or proofreading - I guess that's excitement for you!
i just got this game other day on january 1st free on epic. its crazy because it was only available for like 1 day? i happened to see a random news alert (one of those "free games you can get now on epic" etc articles).
The combo training also resets your health. So you can train with real weapons, get you ass kicked then do the combo training to heal up
Welcome to the team!
Thanks Zen! Looking forward to all that we can accomplish together!
When I first played this game I didn’t even know how to equip a sword so I ran around for two hours without one. ( it was brutal)
same. and in the dream sequence, i didnt know you can wield your sword...i was hamfisting them while getting surrounded
@@bim_94 any ideas on how he can pick plants that fast?
@@HanganakaNak once your herb skill is a certain level you can hold the button and collect from the general area (the area getting larger the higher your skill is)
That's from memory though!
Just got this free on epic and this is so helpful. Awesome stuff
This is AWESOME! SOOO Tired of picking Sage, punching cows, and herding and slaughtering sheep. LOL Thanks!
Being trash at lockpicking, this was quite hard for me. Currently at talmberg, walking with 160kg, because I don't have enough Groschen to buy a bed, in order to get a safe chest. The lockpicking system is killng me.
On Xbox, currently in my experience, they quietly patched the guy forking hay in the beginning to be invincible to stealth knock outs, and will ruin your reputation and run away if you try to fist fight him (I didn’t wait further to see if he ran for the guards or not, I reset my game from there.)
So if anyone’s ‘having trouble with stealth knockouts’, that’s the only problem. Just ignore that guy unfortunately. Not sure why they did this just prior to KCD2 coming out, but they clearly did.
works fine on ps5
@ Well, I did multiple save scums all throughout the process, and he was one of the sole people who I could never knock out no matter what. Even the guards just needed to be caught unaware.
Could just be a thing on Xbox. I was reading apparently the Xbox forums for the game were abandoned, which does NOT speak good the bug side of things might be. (And yeah, went to Talmberg, right after finishing the cutscene, suddenly, my every breath was considered ‘rude’ while I was just trying to get something to eat in the kitchen, and my rep plummeted for seemingly no reason.)
Still going through with it though, since I suck PC side, and I refuse to get a PS5 (got one at launch (got lucky and followed the tips, f^ck scalpers) and decided it wasn’t for me) so Xbox is one of the only ways to go. I can’t imagine trying this out on the switch XD
Have same issue with royal addition ps5 pro
My tips:
1. In the beginning, found a corner that can’t jump(stocked) in Henry’s house. Continuously jump at that corner, you will rise vitality quickly. A higher vitality makes you exercise better 😂
The guard won’t come because Johanka died and wouldn’t call them😂
And then the game is bugged, you can hit all those 6 boys as you wish. You can train all your weapons skills to 20 including str and agi.
And remember this game is bugged….you can only save and load again one and only one chance after this…the game will be halted after 2nd load game. So get out of this town asap after you prepared.
One kill gives you the same xp as 36 jumps. Youre better off killing animals or just doing early level bandit camps to level vitality.
Thank you for the guide! it's very detailed yet straight to the point. It inspires me to redo everything again. I ended up spending 2 hours to perfect all lockpick at Skalitz though lmao
You actually can beat up Kunesh and still get the lockpick. Just don't take the keys after that. Check the chest, take keys and after that you still can ask your friends to beat him up with you (for fun)
have I already played 1000h+ in kcd? Yes. Will I watch this video anyway? Obviously.
Lockpicking is hard as crap as first.
i keep breaking all my lockpicks
@@Pathofmen Yeah..there's no such thing as 'easy'! 😖

Henry is sad and angry, player feels the same
I started my new game this past weekend. After seeing this video I’m going to start over again and follow this 🙂 great video my friend!
Narrator says, most guides have you picking flowers for hours on end, i am going to show you how to get your stuff in 2 hours...Starts picking nettles for ages.
getting level 5 isnt that long but i suggest you to download the "quick pick" mod to not hqve the annimations of henry taking his time for one flower

FUUUU now I want to play this game again!
The amount of times I've been to skallitz to kill the bandits, knights and merchants is unreal. I have so much money saved up, so much armor and weapons that I don't know what to do with them all.
Henry comes to visit
I hear he's quite hungry too!
LOL thanks for this video,I've played through the game 4 separate times and this video helped me plan my first strategized run ❤
The farmer near Henrys house has a guide on "How to avoid getting choked out", it does not have many views though.
Big thank you kind Sir !
Is there a way to turn off pickup flower cutscene ?
nice guide to get well equiped and ready to roll :) on the first playthrough i would advise to take some time and get to know the world a little tho.. if you want to have unlimited time you can also glitch / leave the starting area and travel the world while beeing in the prolog
For sure! The story def is worth experiencing at a slower pace so you can soak it in! I just see so many people caught in the weeds in Skalitz, I wanted to show a quick, efficient way to get to the open world and experience everything this game has to offer while not being overwhelmed by combat mechanics or lack of protection!
For the Deutschs house I follow him into the house and get another stealth take down that way you dont have to lock pick the outside door

The stuff in Skalitz, leave in the living room chest in Henry's home, it'll be there when you go back to Skalitz to bury your parents, then pick it up. Anything you steal in Talmberg, rent the room in the tavern and leave your stuff in the chest upstairs, it'll be waiting for you in the chest at Peshek's
