Not "composed" by Bear McCreary! This is a traditional Scottish song that has been sung since the time of Bonnie Prince Charlie. It is an "arrangement" of the Skye Boat Song with new lyrics. Important from the point of view of copyright. Love the series though.
By Robert Louis Stevenson, same author of Treasure Island, Kidnapped, Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde and so many other masterful works. He wrote this in 1892.

He did compose it from a music/production standpoint. Written by someone else, yes. But this particular rendition is composed by him unless every backing instrument and melody sounds exactly like this, the vocal melody means nothing from a strictly music production standpoint if all you took was a vocal melody and composed all the backing instrumentals

I found outlander thanks to my boss, and I loved the series, I'm in season 6, it's one of the best series I've seen and the song is wonderful

Outlander is one of my favorite shows and can't wait til season 6. From what I read, it will only be 8 episodes, but they'll make up for the shortened season in season 7. YAY! Ready for this Droughtlander to be over! I love all the characters. I cried when Murtagh died.
