2006 Kawasaki Ninja 250R (EX250F) Red - Full Review

  • In this video I am reviewing my 2006 Kawasaki Ninja 250R motorcycle, also known as Kawasaki GPX 250R in some other countries. Its model designation is EX250F. This second generation was sold in the U.S. from 1988 through 2007.
    I purchased this motorcycle used in August 2016 from a private local seller. Since then, I have been riding it pretty regularly, but always on warm, dry and sunny days.
    In this review, I am showing the little Ninjette next to my Honda CBR600F4i as well as next to my son’s Jonway Agility 50 scooter, in order to give you a frame of reference to compare its size to. The first half of the review covers the walk-around, sit-on and start-up, peppered with my opinions about and experiences with this motorcycle. In the second half, you will see the Ninjette from different angles while being ridden.

    The best review on this bike, from the eyes of an experienced rider. I had to wade through lots of videos of "it's a toy" "wheelies pretty good" "looks outdated" etc. before I finally made it here. Glad I did.

    I'm 6'5"210# and love riding my 2005 kawasaki ninja ex250. Plenty of power and light weight. Keeps me from getting too stupid than on a 600 plus the gas mileage is phenomenal. Nice review!

    I'm probably the most critical person when it comes to homemade videos from people who think they know their subject. You, my friend, pretty much made one of the best videos I have ever seen. I'm sure the kid charged a lot for his cameos but worth it! Seriously, thank you for answering the questions most who are wanting a bike like this need to know. Great job and you got a subscriber!👍😎

    I live on a busy highway, and every night I project this video on the side of my neighbor's 2 story house. So every night, thousands of motorists get to see this bike, and you, as I'm projecting this video in mega size.

    I liked the bike in this review so much i just bought a black 2006 exactly like it. Can't wait till i take delivery of it. I used to own a 92 Honda CBR600 F2, which i bought new, but have not been on a bike in the last ten years. I always liked the idea of a 250 sport bike and know i'm going to love it. Great review. Really enjoyed the close up view of this cool bike.

    Most informative video thank you sir. I have been away from Motorcycle's for a lot of year's. I just turn 60. My health not being 100% has me thinking of a bike like this. I'm 5'11 325 pounds. But I am working out doing my best to lose weight and get stronger. This bike being so lite is very appealing to me. Buy I had always heard the stories a 250 isn't any good on a highway. Looks like I was wrong. I'm on disability currently. So my money is alw in high demand but short supple. Especially with gas prices now. I'm giving this bike a lot of consideration. Thank you once again for all the great information.

    A truly excellent motorcycle overview by an intelligent and practical rider ! No hype here, but plenty of informed focus on what matters to a motorcycle buyer. The size comparisons are the best I have seen in a motorcycle video. Some elegant and thoughtful design went into the EX 250. It's low price as a used bike, belies how good it really is. Older riders like myself who are also inseam challenged, can get some more good years riding, by shifting to the lower physical demands of a smaller lighter bike like this one, which is also quite capable.

    I bought mine ('06 Ninja 250r) from a lady who bought it new, but laid it down at 15 mph. She fixed what was scratched, then she put it away until 2018 when I saw it online, for sale.for $900. I bought it instantly because it only had 495 miles on it. The turn signal stalks deteriorated and the back ones entirely fell off, hanging on only by the wires.
    I put it in storage at my house in Texas for a year, and shipped it from my house there to my house here in central Mexico. It cost $1,050 to ship.
    It has still not even started yet. After my wife's cancer surgery, I'll be getting it all fixed up at the local Honda dealership (there's no Kawasaki dealerships anywhere near me for several hundred miles).
    Since it's so low mileage, once I start riding it, I must stay below 2500 rpm for the first 2,000 miles until the motor is even broken in.
    I'll be doing videos of my rides and putting them on a channel I've already made. I'll post that channel here once I'm up and running. It will be a nice scenic moto riding channel. My first ride is goingvto be to the nearby pyramid that was uncovered not too long ago.
    This is my 8th motorcycle in my life, my first one in 1977. I'm actually pretty excited to see how well it handles. It's probably not going to be anywhere as fast as my Yamaha 400 Seca 8Z, but that's not what I'm going for. I'm looking for a bike to get to the mountain villages where I serve as a missionary.
    It will need new tires before I start riding it.

    After 62 years on two wheels.. most of it on BMW's guess what my next and last bike is going to be ? This one. Not mentioned here, but plenty of folks put on bags and rack and do some serious touring on them.

      Very sorry for my late response. I have a lot on my plate in terms of real work now, and motorcycles and TH-cam videos are currently just hobbies for me. In any case, unfortunately I did not have an average MPG test, but as far a I can remember, I was getting over 60 MPG on it with my average riding style.

    How long does it take to fully warm up the bike when cold?

    • @PropsWheels

      About five minutes, unless it is a cold winter day. If winter, then about 10 minutes.

    • @kennethfrazee2540
      @kennethfrazee2540 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@PropsWheels Yeah they take forever to warm up, best to just start riding. Proper jetting helps w cold starts- these are tuned borderline lean from the factory

  • @VeritasEtAequitas
    @VeritasEtAequitas 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Good video. Your idle is WAY too high at first. If it won't warm up below 2000, you need the carburetors worked on. Nim a pro at that so trust me. Air leak, pilot circuit clogged, or bad tune and not synched

    The 08+ Ninja 250 is just nowhere near as good as the 88-07 Ninja 250. It looks insectoid, it only has one exhaust, less comfortable seat, no center stand, loses some power, heavier, and to top it off it's made in Indonesia instead of Japan like the old one.

    • @PropsWheels
      @PropsWheels  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Although the 2008+ Ninja 250 is a more modern motorcycle, in terms of design and ride characteristics I prefer the 88-07 model. It is simply bullet-proof and less expensive to buy.
