  • In this video I explain about the process of getting a Non-immigrant B visa, also know as the 'Thai work visa' for individuals who wish to teach English in Thailand, work for a company in Thailand (Non-teaching Jobs) and conduct business in Thailand.
    I further explain about the procedure of obtaining a 'Thai work permit' which officially allows you to start working in Thailand without any legal issues.
    Note: Only having a Non-immigrant B visa does NOT allow you to begin working in Thailand. You need to further acquire a 'Thai work permit' to do that.

    Well said, Desi. And to quickly, it’s important for everyone intending to stay in the kingdom to understand the labor laws in the country. Most foreigners I came across don’t understand the Thai labor law and they sometimes get mixed up about the rights they have as teachers working in the Kingdom. I created a video on this topic few weeks ago. I’m also a teacher and I run a TH-cam channel about life abroad as an ESL/EFL teacher. I also provide tips for career development.
    Love your video background.

    I'm currently in Thailand and in the process of getting a visa. I understand I need to leave and go to an embassy or consulate to apply. How does this process work? I plan to go to Kuala Lumpur and I see I can schedule an appointment at the Thai embassy there. Once scheduled, I go there to give them all my paperwork, I assume. And then what? I assume they take some time processing. How long? What's next? Any info will help - thanks in advance!

    Thanks Desi for the information :) If let's say I get accepted for a job offer in Thailand, shouldn't the school pay for the work permit? Also, if I was in Thailand and then I got a job offer there, am I required to go back to my country and apply for a visa? I'd like more info about this, it doesn't make much sense to me. Do you know if there's an easy way to contact teachers working in Thailand at the moment and ask for information? Thanks!

    • @Desiabroad
      @Desiabroad  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Most of the school do pay for your work permit. Currently due to the pandemic, it is possible to change your Tourist Visa into a work visa (Non-immigrant B Visa) without leaving the country.
      You could always join some communities on Facebook and have a chat with other teachers in those groups

      Originally after finding a job, you will be required to head back to your home country or neighboring country (Depending on which country you are from) and submit your documents to your local Thai embassy (During normal situations) but now (because of the pandemic) you are permitted to change your visa from within Thailand.
      Hope that helps 😊

    • @Desiabroad
      @Desiabroad  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      You don't have to pay 100,000 USD to obtain an insurance document but your insurance needs to cover you for a total value of 100,000 USD for your medical expenses just incase you injure yourself or are effected by the virus. The insurance needs to cover you for the duration you will be staying in Thailand for.
      Hope this clears it up.
