      It's a strange dilemma for the ref.. It is hard to truly call someone a disrespectful athlete if they are competing in blood sports.. Like.. I completely agree with your point there, it is often unnecessary to see someone who just got the knocked the fuck out and is still getting pummelled ... But at the same time, while fighting can be an art, the aim of the game is, to essentially, physically harm your opponent until they can not compete any longer regardless of the level of harm you inflict on them leading up to the point of victory.
      We'll have a colosseum before too long so all of these rules and regs will be out the window anyway lol.

    0:17 This clip really goes to show how much of this is muscle memory because of all the training they do on submissions. He didnt really "think" he had his opponent's leg. The guys who're extremely calm and calculated very rarely go in when they see the opponent may be out, watch Machida, Shogun or Mark Hunt fights and you'll see often times they walk away when the opponent hits the canvas and its a little too coincidental that they're typically calm and respectful when outside the cage

    The leg lock stopage @2:48 🤯
    That kind of quick reaction makes me believe that a lot of refs have just a high of an adrenaline (or at least close to) rush as I'm sure these athletes experience

  • @Basileno
    @Basileno 2 ปีที่แล้ว +491

    Your career as an athlete depends on how good the referee is, you could sustain serious injuries and the referee won't still stop the fight, and sometimes you get to enjoy another opportunity to fight and make a living because the ref is just so good that he save your career! On top of that, they must be willing to risk their own safety to protect whoever needs it. ONE definitely has some experienced and respectable referees. Kudos to all of them, esp.
