OMG! I just can not get over the negativity of some online. You do your things if you want a baby bird it is not anybody business. For my part, I always had baby cats I raised them from kittens to the end. I did not have many because they lived long. As for my budgies, they were kind of rescues, one from outside lost looking for a person to pick it up and the other one from a family member who could not keep it.
I love your channel it helps me go day to day without having to clean poo ); Just kidding but really love your voice and seeing what you do.

I believe that if you can take an animal from a situation and give them a better home then that’s a “rescue”. No matter if it’s from a rescue center or an individual or anything like that. You give your birds an awesome life so forget the haters! It’s just a different experience raising a baby and that bond can be wonderful and so rewarding. You don’t owe anyone an explanation! Even Marlene mccohen just bought a mustache parakeet because she felt she’d done her part too. Rescue birds are extremely challenging to take on, I know from experience, and you have your hands full already with all your other birds, including your rescues. Raising a baby bird elicits a special bond that cannot be replicated and after rio’s passing you deserve to grow that bond and have that companionship again. Love you, and don’t let anyone make you feel bad about your decisions❤️❤️❤️

I had heard of a good hint to deal with nipping if that is an issue - someone had told me (he had been told this by an avian vet) that if a bird bites you, just flick your wrist a little bit - that will interrupt the behavior but will not frighten the bird.

I hate how cruel people are. You shouldn’t have to explain yourself. I completely understand where you are coming from. I own a mixture of rescue, strays and purchased animals. We also donate money, food and supplies to rescue/shelters. But yet people continue to judge you! Love your videos and hope to add a pet bird to my crew. ❤️❤️

There is no rule that you have to rescue. What if the parrot you want is not available to get as a rescue . You shouldn’t have to settle to get a bird that you don’t really want just because people want you to rescue one. That’s ridiculous and people need to stop judging others. I want a Dutch blue lovebird and I can’t find any here in my area to rescue so I am buying one. I would love to rescue but if I can’t find one I will go to a breeder. Congrats on the new bird! Do what makes you happy and live life for you
Well said 🥰. In today's world it's like if you don't rescue you are a horrible person. The word "rescue" is being used to loosely. People call their pets rescues even if they got him from a nice home or a pet store or their relative where there were living happily. A true rescue is an animal that was actually abused or neglected with proof and not assumed. Some people make up stories when they so call rescue an animal, they say the animal was abused and have no proof. Some animals you clearly can see they were mistreated but others make up sad stories and label their pet a rescue all throughout their lives and feel sorry for it. I think since the pet has a new life why not treat it positively and be happy for it and drop the word rescue and just call the animal their pet.
I do feel for the true rescues but people have to ruin it.

You are totally right. Especially in Canada we don't have a ton of rescues or a ton of species up for adoption, and to be honest Donna is a great person and she really knows how to care and love her animals. She knows what she is doing. I'm glad you are standing up for her.

They can learn to talk. Males are better at talking then females. I am not sure if Marbles is a male or female yet but I am teaching Marbles words everyday.

He's soo cute, Marbles!! I've gotten birds from friends and co-workers. I rescued a yellow neck macaw. But was very sick even though I took him to the vet and followed his instructions. Donna, he passed away within a yr! My son doesn't want me to get another rescue, instead a baby from a breeder. My Lovebird, Esmeralda, is my 1st 🐦 from a breeder as a baby and now almost 15 yrs old. I'm planning to get another mini macaw but from a breeder in a mth or so. Enjoy your babies!
Sorry about your loss of your macaw. Enjoy your new breeder and teach him to fly to you, it's the best feeling and if he ever accidentally gets outside he will come back to you since you taught him the recall

Love of Pets haha my two rams horns are doing good, they are all I have left. All the other pets are doing good too :) I would loveee a bird. It’s been years, I feel like it will happen one day but I’m just very patient and feel like I’ll know when the time is right. But I love them and watch them online daily 💗😭
Donna, just know that our planet earth 🌍 has millions of sadly hateful people. It’s not hard to imagine when you know that there are nearly 8 BILLION people crawling around on earth.
All of us are exposed to various levels of hatred. I know I am because this week a woman accosted me at my apartment because I was removing some leaves off of a bush that were obstructing the sidewalks. 😳
It makes me feel bad. You have many more people who love you 😍 than I have, Donna. We all must continue to WEED out hateful people while still giving help and love 💕 to others.

It’s up to you where you buy your birds. I bought one of my conures from a pet store at a flea market and my other conure was bought from a elderly man wanting to get rid of all his birds due to medical problems. It’s no ones business where you get your pets. All your birds are lovely and well taken care of...

I love ❤️ your little marbles .Best of luck with all your birds.I love to rescue birds but when you cannot find what you want in a Rescue I personally do not think there is any harm I What you are doing as it’s your business and only your business.I lost my little Quaker Parrot as I’ve explained and I might be buying a little Quaker parrot from a breeder if I cannot find a Quaker Rescue I will have to go to a breeder and purchase one.I think that’s terrible and sick that someone would threaten you like that .That would shake me up a little too..I wish you the best of luck with all your birdies they are sooo sweet.God Bless you and them.Take care love ❤️ watching your videos.

Hi, Donna. Sorry you had to deal with people who wanted you to only get rescue birds. I'm a retiree and have probably re-homed 2 dozen birds in my life ranging in size from budgies to a female eclectus . Most of these birds had behavioral problems from being locked in cages their whole lives and I worked with each bird until they could be handled (many painful bites at first) but it kept them out of animal shelters. HOWEVER, for my own flock, I purchased three young whiteface cockatiels from a breeder. These birds had never been abused or neglected and I could train them to fit my lifestyle (like potty training on newspaper) It's going on 14 years now and the doors to their cages have never been closed. I love it. One of my males has his own pillow on my bed and flies to it every morning ,then goes back to sleep until I get up. He just loves to hang with me and I don't believe that any of the rescue birds would have bonded to this extent. I'm going to purchase a female whiteface pearl/pied soon and have arranged for all the birds in my will. These 'tiels have been better company than many people I've known.Your videos are great. Hang in there and ignore the idiots. There's no reason you should ever get a thumbs down review !

I got a Mustache Parakeet from a breeder as well 😀. I pray they keep breeding them because they are not doing well in the wild. Farmers spray for them and their habitat is undergoing deforestation. I would breed them myself if I had the time! People don't realize... SOME breeding of parrots is NEEDED to keep certain species in population.
You are correct about the breeding. If no one bred then some birds would go extinct and also it helps from birds being poached from the wild.

Marbles is sooo cute! I would love to hear about all your other pets too! It is a very personal decision for each person and family whether to adopt a pet from a rescue, buy from a breeder, or pet store. I have an open mind for all options that come from a clean, well-cared for environment. One size does not fit all, just as there are people that choose to give birth to their own human babies and some adopt a child from foster care. Yes, there is a bird crisis, all the while is also a child abuse crisis. We can't go around telling women to stop having children. Good moms and dads for pets should not be penalized because of the bad pet owners. This was a great video and I love your real talk conversation. It teaches education and that the "one way" approach does not reach out and sit well for educating pet owners. Just as I do, you have rescued and helped animals and I know you will continue to do so!
When walking my dogs I get asked where I got my dogs from. When I say a breeder they give me a lecture on why I should of rescued. You know what I say? I ask them "do you have children" they say yes. I them ask if they are adopted. You should see the look on their face. If they don't have children, I ask if they have siblings or cousins and then I ask if they were adopted. The conversation usually ends right there and their faces are blank, lol.

Trixie my mustache parakeet just turned one. It’s been an interesting year, she says “ I love you” and so sweet. He’s a male right? Orange beak? I chose a breeder too; because I wanted to hand feed her as a baby and have that connection. She isn’t a big biter with me, thankfully. Their beak is so strong. Haha. Anyway. Can’t wait to see his journey! ❤️

I think it's your money, and you can do what you want with it! I plan to buy a weaned baby bird someday because I don't think getting rescues would be compatible with my Autistic son. Congratulations. Marbles is so adorable. Please disregard the haters. You should be able to get the bird you want . Many people want baby birds and birds not available in rescue. A word of caution . Many people do not know how to feed younger babies.They can choke accidently. Get a weaned baby. One breeder I knew would not sell a baby until it was 4 months old and the parents were there also. This bird was rehomed to me and is very well adjusted and attached to me. You are a very kind person and your birds will love you. Still feel sad about Rio. These babies will cheer you up.
I agree, it's best to get weaned birds but in my case I am experienced in feeding but do not recommend it for novice bird owners.

I love Marbles and Kingsley. Umm, I disagree with who ever criticised you. Breeders are not bad to get a bird or animal from either. I would rescue a bird if I could, but, you don't have to do that. Donna I absolutely adore you & your animals! I am going through an illness that affects my brain, eyes and spinal fluid (tho it's not terminal). I am wanting to get a bird so badly to lift my spirits and have something to take care of. I am aiming for 5 months to get a quaker parrot, but this little guy has stolen my heart. I dunno may look into this bird! Love your family of animals & thank you Donna for this TH-cam channel. It's so helpful and fascinating!!

Also can't believe how mean some people can be on here, regardless of where you got your babies from, there is no doubt you provide the best home and life for them and that should matter even more! I just wanted to tell you that I really enjoy your videos and I get soo much info on your channel and I just heard about the nasty comments you got and I just have to say from someone who doesn't put much stock into what people who are negative and judgemental and clearly a bit delusional say. But just know that you are doing a great job in being not just intertaining but so informative too.
