This is the one character and scene in Aida which I love. The great Egyptian Princess (daughter of the Pharaoh), endowed with tremendous power and authority becomes even lower than Aida here, as she realises she has been the catalyst for her lover's death as well as the even more painful revelation that Radames can never love her. Wonderful theatre.

I absolutely love "Aida" as a whole but Cossotto of course could steal the show from anyone!
Good gosh. Where was this? Pretty amazing for a very old video recording. I was a little guy in 1966.
