  • Cold days are upon us and we definitely felt it!
    So to begin with, we started the day by replacing a coil spring on a BMW E90. This job was actually passed on to us by a subscriber; if you're watching this, THANK YOU VERY MUCH!
    We then followed it up by replacing a 2021 Amazon Ford Transit Gearbox fitting, which we took out from this video:
    • YOU SHOULD ALWAYS SERV...
    (Thank you Callum!)
    We then replaced a Peugeot 207 CC Clutch as it was reportedly slipping. From the looks of things, it was replaced recently BUT there is a massive issue! Watch the video to find out more!
    Please like, share, comment, and subscribe to see more contents like this!

    You did the right thing. Advised the customer of the leak, customer declined, so no warrenty given as eventually the leak will contaminate the new clutch and cause the same issue.

    This is why (leaky gearbox) there should a central register of repair jobs that are faulty. Your client is knowingly going to stiff someone on a deal by failing to declare the gearbox and clutch are going to need repaired in the not too distant future, leaving someone out of pocket because he won't pay for a proper repair.

    Great stuff Mat and team.. Can't understand both car owners.. Beamer man needed to do both springs and Peugeot man should have done his gearbox oil seal as that would have been a cheap job seeing as it was visible .. Good work Guy's.

  • @Parknest
    @Parknest 10 หลายเดือนก่อน +4

    I would've had the gearbox seal replaced as there is no extra labour involved even if I was trading the car in. It is an absolute no-brainer. To me it is peace of mind for the next owner. I hope whoever ends up buying this car finds this video. You did right to refuse a warranty. It is not worth penny pinching with critical parts. If I was the BMW owner, I would've had both springs replaced. I had a broken front spring replaced on my Mercedes W204 and I ended up changing both sides. I had to pay my mechanic to do the actual spring change because my coil spring comperssors weren't up to the job.

Your gonna place the gearbox back before replacing the seal? i would call them first and tell them. the seal is done and sinds the gearbox is off we recommend replacing it now. i had a main seal starting to leak. told the garage pls replace and do the clutch also i got a wierd look from em. turned out it was in need of replacing in near future. and sinds it would be an 800 euro job for the seal it would be same price because ecual job just different part.

    Completely agree with the decision not to give that customer warranty - same way anyone would refuse to accept liability if a customer drives away after being told about a repair needed, then suffers a breakdown due to them not taking up the advice to carry out the repair. The Amazon jobs always look interesting, can't imagine any Amazon driver uses much mechanical sympathy when driving the vans!

    I like your content however, in this case I think it's bad practice. I took my car to my mechanic to have the clutch replaced. It cost me £1200 (BMW Mini) & didn't even get me 10 miles before catastrophic failure. Mechanic towed me back & told me the gear box had gone. I'd never had a problem with gearbox ever & knew it was a clutch problem as it was burning, the very same problem he'd charged me £1200 to fix! I then spoke to a mate who's an engineer & he told me schoolboy error. Whenever you remove the gearbox you need to replace the oil seals, it's common practice & should be done EVERY time you do a clutch. I demanded that mechanic fix the job I'd paid him to do, ie the clutch because under consumer law, it has to be fit for purpose & last a reasonable amount of time based on the amount spent. £1200 for a clutch to last less than 10 miles is not acceptable. I got the car back eventually with a working clutch but sadly a friendly business relationship has gone because I can't trust him any more. Replacing the oil seals should be a given & not an option, factored into the price for doing a clutch.

    Should've put the old clutch back in, not wasting the new one on an idiots car. I give that car 1 minute till it's contaminated.
