Given the enormity of Taylor’s fame, and the fact that she’s been a celebrity since she was 16, the relatability in her songwriting is astonishing.

She is about family, friends, love real things even if she wants success and it seems that writing about love and heartbreak and refusing to be shamed for it and having her family close is what kept her that way. She’s very intelligent even if she doesn’t throw it in our face, she has learned the hard way how judgmental people are

Well it is the relatability in her songwriting that has gotten her where she is. She truly is one of the all time greats at writing incredibly personal songs that are at the same time completely universal. She taps into our common humanity better than almost anyone..

I've seen so many "outsiders" look at swifties in concert crowds crying and singing with Taylor. "It's a cult." "Her fans are insane." Watching you two be hit by this song's content and lyrics, I think you may begin to understand. I rarely see a Taylor Swift reaction where the viewer doesn't stop and begin sharing and wondering about their own experiences. Taylor has a gift, and it goes beyond her amazing writing, storytelling, and performance skills. She can see into People--see their struggles and triumphs. Her songs invite people to think, to open up, to share, to accept, to defy, to dance, to sing, to heal, to grow. Teenage girls, millennial women, LGBTQ people, straight people, Brazilians, Japanese, Australians, etc, and yes--even two American adult men on a couch😂. She does it to all of us, and her concerts become places to share that experience. They are cathartic and joyful in the best way. Keep going! It's amazingly refreshing and wonderful to get to watch your journey ❤

The more you do the more Swifties will start finding your channel because we love seeing people discover her talent. If you do more songs from the Long Pond Studio sessions I recommend: my tears ricochet (about the masters from her first 6 albums being sold away from her), exile featuring Bon Iver, and epiphany (discussing soldiers as well as medical professionals during Covid). Epiphany is so meaningful to me because I am a nurse and it helped me get through the last of the pandemic. I would recommend always doing the interview before the song.

I love My Tears Ricochet (though the interview doesn't touch on the specifics that make it hit SO hard), but I think Epiphany might hit both of you in a really powerful place, with the interview. So the gent she's talking to is Jack Antonoff, one of her BFFs and producer/collaborator/conspirator since 1989. He's a well-known producer, and was a member of the band "fun." His current band, Bleachers, is also a lot of fun. The guy playing guitar is Aaron Dessner of The National. Long Pond is his studio, and he's the other producer on folklore and evermore, and also worked with her on Midnights.
And yeah, this song gets me, too. The fact that it hits so many of us, in so many different stages of life, is a testament to her songwriting. Personally, I suffer from intractable chronic pain, and often want to scream at just the effort it takes to emulate "normal" when I'm so far from that. Add to that the sense of wasted potential, because I was that smart kid in high school who was supposed to go far and do amazing things, and no one ever tells you how to do that when you become disabled, or how to even live in a society that actively makes it harder for you to even be present. And you know, there are days where I just want my gold star for getting up and making it through the day and resembling a human being while doing it. 🫤

The entire folklore and evermore albums are incredible (more of this tone/style) with great storytelling. There is a reason Folklore won Album of the Year and Evermore was nominated for it. She dropped them 6 months apart. The Long Pond Studio versions for Folklore have her explaining each song motivation before performing it acoustically; however the studio version AHS some absolutely incredible orchestrations that are not to be missed. She worked with Aaron Dessner from The National for the first time on those 2 albums and beaide being a co-songwriter on most of the songs on the album he is also co-producer of the entire two albums. She has called Jack Antanoff (her longtime collaborator and the person you just saw talking to her) her ‘musically family’ and what they do together is really gold; however she calls Aaron her ‘musical soulmate’ and he manages to pull something super special out of her. Typically Taylor write the music initially(sometimes doing the music then lyrics or vice versa, but with Aaron she mostly writes to his tracks. When she heard his music for what was to become Cardigan, she did the song in like 45 minutes- his music made her feel things and then she wrote to what she imagined. The entire two albums (folklore and evermore) are necessary listens (even though her 1989 track is what solidified her a pop icon. But I really want you to listen/watch All Too Well: The Short Film (HOWEVER- I highly recommend watching the lyric version first. It is a long song and there are a lot of lyrical details you won’t want to miss - I suspect you will be too distracted to catch the brilliance in her lyrics in that song. Also, though never released as single (the original short version of the full 10 min one), fans sent the 10 min one to #1 on the charts beating a long held record for longest song to get to #1 by Don McClean for American Pie - he publicly congratulated her remarking that he was glad it fell to a song like this.

Okay, I’m gonna recommend the big daddy of her canon: All Too Well (10-Minute Version) AND the short film she made of All Too Well. Both are arguably at the top of what makes Taylor Taylor. They’re also just insanely well-crafted and thoughtful. If you can’t react to both the lyric video AND the short film, do the short film because it’s the whole 10-minute version written and directed by Taylor. Really enjoyed your reaction. For another facet of Taylor, I recommend you try the Grammy performance of All Too Well. There are two versions on you tube- I’d recommend you try the one that is not labeled “rehearsal “.
Just as a note- you may well have a lot of people suggest the ten minute version (specifically the one with the short film). In my opinion, I think it’s best to start with the Grammy performance, to see if you like the song, then, if you do, move on to the 10 minute lyric video. The short film is good, but the lyrics of the song are fantastic and the video can be a bit distracting. 😊

I was fresh and raw in my sobriety when Taylor dropped this album. All the music I used to listen to would trigger me and give me anxiety. Then I heard this song and even though I liked her before, I used to listen to heavy metal, punk, rock, and I have a nick cave tattoo. I'm a full blown swiftie now, and still sober, and I think I met her at the right place at the right time with this song in particular. My mom cried because yeah. They told me all of my cages were mental so for 17 years I got wasted like all my potential.
Still sober, going on 5 years. And I'm in the top percentage of taylor's listeners on Spotify 😂

@@HPReact Ronan is the true story of a four-year-old boy who died of cancer. Taylor used some of his mother’s own words and gave her co-credit on the song, the proceeds of which go to cancer research. She’s sung it live only twice, because she can’t get through it either. Never Grow Up is an excellent example of sweet, full circle songwriting from feeling what it’s like to grow up to having kids of your own. It is many parents’ favorite, but you will very likely need some Kleenex if you listen to it. To drop in a quote from Blank Space, “don’t say I didn’t warn you!”

Taylor's music has gotten me through some dark times. The way she's able to be such a huge pop cultural figure but also be so relatable to us normal humans is incredible. Another AMAZING performance from the Long Pond sessions is My Tears Ricochet (about the sale of her masters to her biggest enemy). I’m so happy you listened to the long pond sessions where she described what the songs are about, because most people just assume everything is a breakup song, while in reality it is not.
There are so many meaningful songs in her discography. I personally love Ivy, lyrically it’s modern day Shakespeare, it also breaks my heart a little bit every time I listen to it.
The Last Great American Dynasty (also available on the Long Pond Sessions) is simply fantastic!

It is an interesting dynamic how people on the "Outside" view Taylor Swift. Either as a pop singer or a country singer or even superficial. This song is from her 8th album. She has been writing songs that tap into emotions, sometimes a single emotion in a single moment of time since she was 14 years old. Songs on her first album are from that time in her life. To me, what makes Taylor special is she is beyond music at this point. She is beyond the poetry she writes. She has taken introspective times in her life and shared the joy or pain or heartbreak so that we know we are not alone. She transcends age and gender. The gift she has given to the world will stand the test of time. Have a Swift day.

Subscribed! I love the energy you two give out 😊
What I appreciate the most about Taylor is how much of an image or a feeling she can put across to the listener using such a comparitively short amount of words/lyric.
In the intro, she paints this whole scenario about someone thinking about committing suicide. She conveys that in the song without mentioning death, suicide, etc., in one glorious lyric "could have followed my fears all the way down". And you don't even have to have listened to the intro to understand that this is what she is referencing.
She has such a breadth of work that both takes pop to a whole new level, and she bridges out into folk, indie, dream pop, rock, pop punk, country. It really is impressive.

Their more artsy Korean tracks weren’t getting much attention in the west, so this was their attempt to « hack » the western music industry (which they did successfully). But it is absolutely not representative of their wider work.
And KPOP tends to avoid CGI in their videos- the only cgi in this was the last scene with the pastel outfits. They tend to prefer practical sets and effects and go balls to the wall with it.
