My neighbor is an old F-14 pilot and he said he fought a MiG in Vietnam but it got away. He had his share of close calls and narrow escapes from SAMs. He test flew the then-new F-22 Raptor supersonic at just 10 feet above the ocean, as per orders. He strafed an enemy SAM site in Desert Storm. I keep telling him to write a book. They were also operating under ceasefire conditions, which means they weren't allowed to shoot at anything that didn't shoot at them first. MIGs approached near the tomcats multiple times, but stayed a respectful distance away.

The live action actor deserves a lot of credit too, his demeanour is great, especially the cheeky and almost shy grin towards the end as he reaches out to his old friend.
Japanese mediums such as video games and anime do a very good job of depicting wars and conflicts while simultaneously illustrating an anti-war message. One of the best examples of this is the Gundam franchise. If you've never consumed any Gundam media, I highly recommend it, especially if you're an Ace Combat fan. A lot of thematic elements in Ace Combat narratives are also present in many installments of the Gundam universe.

It's not even a meme, but the most iconic line of this game coming from your former-wingman who once fought alongside, and also against you in the end. It's the most memorable phrase for any fan of this game or this series in general.
This Wingman fought along you for many battles, against the most fearsome air force in the world (Belkan Air Force), sometimes without any kind of ground or air support, just you and him, two planes against squadrons of ace pilots. "Yo buddy, still alive?" was one of his catchphrases after surviving hellish battles like that.

The live action actor deserves a lot of credit too, his demeanour is great, especially the cheeky and almost shy grin towards the end as he reaches out to his old friend.
This gem proved that such series as Call of Duty , Battlefield or Rainbow six will never have such dramatic anti war stories as the AC games have.
Japanese mediums such as video games and anime do a very good job of depicting wars and conflicts while simultaneously illustrating an anti-war message. One of the best examples of this is the Gundam franchise. If you've never consumed any Gundam media, I highly recommend it, especially if you're an Ace Combat fan. A lot of thematic elements in Ace Combat narratives are also present in many installments of the Gundam universe.
@@TheydyGodiva Ace Combat 7 really dropped the ball in that regard, with its misguided angle of 'muh evil drones'. Fun game, but story is quite literally all over the place, given what we now know of unused story-critical dialogue.
Eh even stories that embrace chaos are amazing too, just has a different goal in mind usually. Perhaps, experimenting with stuff or just wanting to be more out there, pushing the envelope of it all

It's not even a meme, but the most iconic line of this game coming from your former-wingman who once fought alongside, and also against you in the end. It's the most memorable phrase for any fan of this game or this series in general.
This Wingman fought along you for many battles, against the most fearsome air force in the world (Belkan Air Force), sometimes without any kind of ground or air support, just you and him, two planes against squadrons of ace pilots. "Yo buddy, still alive?" was one of his catchphrases after surviving hellish battles like that.
