Some countries have billions of homeless people, have hospitals/schools without facilities or less , children without education....but they spend billions and billions of money to build tallest statues.....this who we selected as our leaders ...

Good point. Governments love these vanity projects, especially when they have an agenda to push (ie, some of these statues glorify Indian Hindu nationalism). They will argue that it will create short term jobs in construction and long term jobs via tourism, but they fail to mention that improving the standard of life for the poor gives a much more meaningful economic benefit. When you lift the poor out of poverty, every won in the nation wins.
