    Tip for safety focused shoppers -
    Not only did the H3s get an engine upgrade in 07, the 08-10 have front AND rear side curtain airbags STANDARD.
    That was VERY important to me as a parent, so I only looked at 08-10s to be sure that feature was there. They also have an additional stability control standard in 08-10, above and beyond what they already had in 06 & 07.
    Just a tip in case those safety features are important to you.

    Although a pretty good video, the H3 was NOT built on a modified Colorado chassis. That's a common misconception, but there is nothing that the 2 share other than the 5 cylinder engine. As for off road capabilities; one of the main design criteria when GM was developing the H3 was that it could conquer the Rubicon Trail in stock form. It was also designed to accept up to 35" tires with no modifications necessary.

    I have a 2010, Right Hand Drive, 5.3 v8, assembled here in South Africa at the Port Elizabeth GM Plant. It is awesome off-road with the front and rear lockers as well as the 4:10 transfer case. This, apart from SFA articulation, puts it into Rubicon territory in terms of off-road performance. On road, it is smooth and direct in terms of handling, like a large saloon car, which inspires confidence. The vehicle in the test appears to have had the front raised, which can be done by adjusting the torsion bars, delivering an additional 2 inches. However, this is known to make the vehicle a little more skittish on-road and at speed. It can also place more strain on the front drive components like the CV joints. Very nice review.

    There are one or two 2007s and the same with the 2008's.
    I am not an offroader (yet), but would still like a car with greater snow and overlander capabilities.

      @@volodymyrprosov6134 do you reccomend 09-10 or alpha because of the cast iron differential? There are only 3 h3s in my entire state, but willing to travel when I find *(the one)* are all 06-07 duds? My options are very limited due to very few h3s within a 500 mile radius.. would love to ship.. but what if I spend $2k to ship a dud without a test drive or even seeing the vehicle in person.. 06-07 are most options for my area in MT

    • @volodymyrprosov6134
      @volodymyrprosov6134 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      BigSky Family yep because of cast iron differential. Mine hummer is h3 09 luxury without adventure package,so i have an aluminum front differential..If be truth,i changed my tires to AT 285/75/16 (33”),and I have never get stuck yet on middle offroad,but i love to rev up my engine (ye,5.3 v8 would be faster definitely and mpg of 3.7 and 5.3 would be almost the same if you love to rev up,and v8 is faster a bit),so aluminum differential has more chances to break down.. also by 09 year there is the Bluetooth option included,so i put my hand free connect device instead this cd player and just enjoy of my own music and ability to talk through car)

    • @volodymyrprosov6134
      @volodymyrprosov6134 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      BigSky Family oh got it..Idk i have no idea about 06-07..but I really would be tried to get an 09-10..Sure if you dont care about gas usage,09-10 alpha even without lockers,they need only for extreme serious off-road only,you have modified traction control in 09-10 years and it helps you a lot..Soo ..up to you..I just don’t want you in future be bothered about to trade your 06-07 for a 09-10 as me now sometimes my 3.7 to 5.3.. but i have also pulled an enough big trailer with some furnitures inside and my i5 did well,also with i5 when you rev up,its difficult to get a speeding ticket 😂
      But if you will drive over 65mpg with an i5,it will eat your fuel ⛽️ like as v8,but has a power as a i4-5 😂

    • @gary3046
      @gary3046 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

Highway mpg under good conditions is 17 and you can get it to 18 if you don’t move your foot from the pedal, press brakes, use premium gas, etc. Tuning it will only improve mpg by 1 or 2, maybe 3 if all conditions are working out for you. If all you do is city driving, or your highways are crowded, the gas prices are really gonna get to you.

    anyone know where I can get a Hummer H3 for a cheap price like 5k? Also, if you get an H3 from 2006, is it worse then the later models like a 2009 H3?

      Later years are always going to be a little nicer and will probably have fewer problems since they’ve had some time to work out mechanical kinks but I’d guess there will be minimal difference between 2006 and 2009.

      The 2006 was the only model plagued with the same failing head issues in the 3.5 as the Colorado and Canyon of the same year. 2007 introduced the 3.7 and has none of the issues of its predecessor. Estimated life span is 300k according to Edmunds. I personally have a friend with a 2006 sporting 330k.

    Hummers are so iconic. I love them, especially those in this red color!
    I recently found a POV with a black H3, and I am seriously considering buying one. I hope I can still find one in good shape. If you guys know someone selling a black one like the one in the video, let me know!!!
    th-cam.com/video/WUl3QmCqlCs/w-d-xo.html
    Question: Do you know any frequent problems with the H3's? I've heard about some issues with the front axle, but not quite sure that's true? Any thoughts on that?
    Keep up with these great videos! Maybe you can get the chance to make a video with the new Hummer that is supposed to come out this year or next year. That would be an awesome video!

    For anyone watching this to help decide whether to buy a h3 or not please read this comment. I daily drove a h3 for 3 years and I’m here to tell you DO NOT BUY ONE! The steering was loose, and I had endless problems with the motor (over heating, excessive vibration, etc). Replaced radiator, thermostat, water pump, fan clutch, motor mounts, steering components, sensors, etc. it was never ending to say the least. It was a rough and loud ride and difficult to see out windows. Seats were uncomfortable after driving for long periods of time and cramped inside. Had bad gas milage and no power. It comes stock with 4 speed transmission so driving above 70mph sucks. It was a 76mph vehicle all day long. I sold it with 220k miles and had never been happier. Now you may think I beat on it and didn’t maintain it, but I was always very thorough on maintenance. The one positive thing I will say is that my H3 would go anywhere and through anything. Very impressive off-road performance, but the wide wheel base made it impossible to keep the truck clean. Any mud puddle or dirt you drove through instantly was applied across the side of your vehicle.
