  • Behavior is ANYTHING an organism DOES, and there are Four Main Functions of these behaviors...
    This was the first thing the BCBA taught us... Then, she dove deeper, and light bulbs began going off in my mind!
    AKA * MIND WAS BLOWN!!
    ________________________________________________
    FOUR Main Functions Of Behavior;
    1. Attention seeking - Simply gaining attention - whether good or bad
    2. Escape or Avoidance - Getting out of an unwanted activity (cleaning up).
    3. Tangible Items - Wanting access to a physical object
    4. Sensory Seeking or Automatic Reinforcement - Doing things because they feel good
    * What are these functions exactly?
    * How do they work?
    * How can ABA (Applied Behavior Analysis) actually make a difference in my child's life?
    * What's a BCBA's (Board Certified Behavior Analyst) role in ABA therapy?
    These are the questions we answer in today's video; The 4 Functions Of Behavior!

    Ive been looking for answers all of my sons life and I'm about to watch your video. At least, we aren't the only parents, like I thought we were, to sadly not be able to have a normal functional day. He's soooo aggressive, here, and school all of the time, non-stop! He cusses everywhere he goes and gets even worse when corrected. Hopefully, your video will help. We think he is O.D.D.

    Where does boredom fall into this? My boys "misbehave" mostly from just being bored. Which function is that? Or they're in a bad mood? Which function?
