Damn Brada! You sound pretty badass. Mavericks, huh? Boring? After all the pros that have passed away here, and lots of the elite surfers of this era that just don't surf it, that's saying something. I'd love to see YOUR videos out there. Why no posts? Yeah. Thought so. Easy to act tough on TH-cam. Nothing personal, but shut your fuckin mouth and have some respect for the chargers. Just rent 'North Shore' for the 100th time and zip it.
Even the other Mavericks legends acknowledge how heavy that is. Hearing him reflect on his relationship with Mavericks, is so inspiring, to make the most out of life.
We surfed that area from 1965, And Nuevo and south. There's a spot, San Gregorio, that formed ginormous, perfect waves but broke too close to the cliff. Never had an inkling of Mav's.
3:10 That wave just cocked it's leg and blasted a massive beer fart. One it had been holding since the open ocean. Calling it a "spitter" is the understatement of the year. Thanks for sharing your session with us my friend, good stuff indeed! 👍 👍
Fantastic capture and viewpoints Peter Mel is a legend Mavs rider that barrel wave he made has set the bar totally respect his knowledge experience and raw guts...right up there with Laird Hamilton you carn't get much more praise than that...
Yes, it's great to hear the stories of the surfers as well as the rescuers who take on Mavericks. Great radio communication too. Awesome content all the way around.
Astounding footage. I love the spaghetti western music at the start of the video. That stuff always creates an atmosphere of mystery and a vague sense of foreboding.
More importantly than the surfing, Is the choice a good narrator& the MUSIC music music music, especially around the 17 minute mark, Well Done Powerline.
Powerlines is just Amazing. To hear the stories, and see the whole safety thing in action, blows my mind. Fking Whelhem is a legend with his air drops. Shout out to Stanley Drake. Carpinteria home grown. Good stuff brother. Ewweeew Powerlines! P.j. Carp.
Come on guys I got to go to work I wanted to watch part two thank you so much though it's Friday. The weekends here and hurry up put out part two you made my day a lot better than it would have been thank you so much
Was there in the water a few days after this session when it was 13/15 feet. These waves are ridiculous. Thick barrels, shallow breaks and heavy currents, mad respect for surfing them at 20/30 feet. Gives me deja vu anxiety seeing the pov of paddling over the sets
That's epic. Keep coming back to this video but I like free style alot better, without the straps. I mean it's good to see people getting air like that.
All surfing edits should be like this where you hear and see what's going on behind the scenes. This really brings it together nicely like you are right there apart of it instead of on the couch looking at the screen. Props to all 🤙🤙👌
I really appreciate how it shows the waves from a distance too. I like to see them in context of the area. It helps to see just how big the whole wave is. Would love to see Mavericks in person when it’s like this. How come nobody surfed this before Jeff Clark?
Nobody believed it was possible especially there at pillar point. The place is out off the main coastline. So when he discovered it he told his closest surfing friends who took a long time to actually go check it out. It's also on rare occasions that it's firing massive. Not an every day huge swell.
Such a well done video for sure. Could you see this break from Amtrak Coast Starlight? I’ve seen Radar towers around Pt Conception. Mavericks is further north. Anyway really enjoying the big wave videos out right now. As I’m sitting in my cabin in Mt.
Waves of that size and that clean and glassy, it is insane. I surfed for 30 years and had surf like that maybe 3 times, and size , well hard to judge, maybe between half and two thirds of that. Certainly got that "falling elevator" thing going on when taking off. Was shitting bricks every time, but what a rush...
Great video. Question: who pays the rescue teams, jetski/boat drivers, helicopters etc? I'd imagine if the riders are sponsored then the sponsors would pay, but what about guys who aren't sponsored? I know 0 about surfing so I'm just curious
That’s Grant Washburn’s angle. He’s been surfing Mavericks since the beginning. He’s on a brown board that you’ll see in some of the drone footage. Top Bloke too. 👍🏻
36:30. The soundtrack is amazing! The title says " Freehombre" "Lofi", however, I cannot find it anywhere online. Anyone knows more about it (please send me a link) Thanks
Y'know , Freehombre(Steve Freeman) is a brilliant musician but a mortgage broker by day. Music is art to him. We'll let him know so maybe he can bust out an album in the future, as we have recommended to him a few times 🔥
Mavericks is not a good wave. No barrel. Just massive walls of water Not interesting at all
… until you paddle out yourself ✔️
@@PowerlinesProductionsNo hate on this guy because it's crystal clear they have no idea.

Says the guy who’d never have the balls to paddle into it
Pin of shame
This place, Dungeons and Cortes are so intimidating.. just next level.
Such a sweet job leaving all the sound of Mavericks in. Thanks
Sounds like the COOLEST guy👍
Great work guys, Powerlines n1 surfing brand!
Ya Manny! Much more on the way 💥
This is an incredible video, so much insight into each situation and the professionalism of the rescue team.
Right on, thank you 🙏
This might be the best Mavericks content I’ve ever seen
Whoa, that's nice thank you 🙏🏽
Seven waves sets. Insane!
These videos and athletes are so amazing. Thank you for this content!
Thankyou Powerlines! Beautiful visual presentation and interviews. Respect to these videographers, audio recordists and editors.
It's just insane that Jeff Clark surfed this all alone, for fifteen years.
And he would always go left
Even the other Mavericks legends acknowledge how heavy that is. Hearing him reflect on his relationship with Mavericks, is so inspiring, to make the most out of life.
@@scottmcwave9479 at some point he learned switch foot and would go right, regular-footed. He's one of very few ambidextrous big-wave surfers.
He's a legend and I respect his skill but in real life he's kind of an asshole and alot of the local people around him thinks he's a sellout
We surfed that area from 1965, And Nuevo and south. There's a spot, San Gregorio, that formed ginormous, perfect waves but broke too close to the cliff. Never had an inkling of Mav's.
Big Up à Justine et Othmane ! Cool de vous voir là bas, on est fier de vous !

Every one of these guys and or girls are my freaking hero’s. That drop is horrific

Best Mavs video ever??? Love the interviews, multi angles, editing etc. Way to go Powerlines team! Always great to see you out there - always on it...
Thank you for the nice comments 🤙
Great job, had to keep watching even though the bowl was ready it didn't get smoked till the end!
Need more than a bowl for this one
epic! great how you've woven the story and the action together. you know it's heavy when most of the world's best are shoulder hopping.
Hard to do Mavericks justice in video 🎥🏄🏻♂️💦
Good job, so much good memories !! Thanks again all the water safety !

Kai Lenny has a different relationship with his equipment and the wave, everywhere he goes....it's awesome to watch!
Great edit and incredible footage. Loved the interviews, thanks!

Many technical and other issues made this part 1 difficult to finish , we hope part 2 will be done much quicker!
That was unreal...excellent angles and no music👍👍
Twiggy sickness @9:40 - Wow, that drop. and the Tom Lowe @10:30 - jesus. Chumbo madness @22:44

highly appreciate the 4k upload for 54m. Mustve taken ages lol

Geez some nice action in front of massive waves with tons of water, very dangerous, these guys deserve respect.

Chumbo is a LEGEND.....Awesome wave
Truly magnificent waves and surfing skills !! 👏🏻💯 A shame that it seems all oceans now show that brown tongue of dirt ...

Did u visit last summer with the family?
Just unbelievably fcuking stunning, perfect waves in the most perfect of settings you lucky lucky bastards.
it was a great day!
great work Curt and Eric eeehawww!
37:12 We get a ghost board 25 feet in the air, is this Twiggy's?
No. Peter Mel talks about it at the 52:10 mark (it's his board) A lot is going on at this part of the story.
It's crazy how the waves dont look THAT big and then the camera angle changes and you realize they are bigger than anything I could even imagine lol
0:15 what's playing? It's excellent.
The saying in California will now become Grow Grass in the summer and Surf in the winter! Because this is California Baby!!
This is mesmerizing.
Epic yes music epic yes awesome yes...
great video!!Gripping
Right on, thank you @maattttt07 🤙
Whose the Hellman at 17:00 in a short John …?
Chris Mashburn , he wore that every session last year!

Same with very last ride of Zach Wormhoudt. Perfect combo of angle and lens to capture the action.
34:20 for the baaaaaaaalzy Twiggy drop
A fuckin masterpiece. thank you guys for all of the effort put into editing these things
