- In this intermediate Godot 4.1 tutorial video we design a space level from the ground up and cover a range of topics including creating skyboxes, sky shaders, star shaders, asteroid gridmaps, etc. We also ensure that the environment looks good using readily available Godot tools like the WorldEnvironment and DirectionalLight.

He does it again!! Another astonishing video!!! Hurrah
Love it! Perfect timing again!
Lokking like 10th video in a row and this is the best tutorials on godot that i have seen so far. You're awesome!!!
to align the directional light and shadows with the star, simply point the editor camera at the star, select the light, and use the align-with-camera function in the editor. then just rotate the transform 180
Oh that's a cool way of doing it! Thank you!
You can also do what I did and put a script on the light that gets the position of the current viewport and then have the light use the look_at function. If your DirectionLight3d is in the center of the sun, then nearby shadows will always seem to be coming from the sun. There are a few artifacts such as objects on the other side of the sun casting shadows, but I've found ways to get around that.
Oh wow, thanks a lot for creating this :) Really helpful!
love your videos!
Me too!
Thank you :)
Thank you soo much my friend!
This is so helpful - thank you!
Glad it was helpful! :)
Super... I look forward to another great video
Thank you for watching! :)
thts freakin awesome dude
“From Scratch” is doing a lot of stretching here lol
But I learned a lot and I’m glad I clicked, thanks for making this!
Thank you for watching! :)
Do you have a tutorial for moving the spaceship?
Nice video, thanks
Glad you liked it!
Did he push her off the cliff or not?
I just want you to know, that making a tutorial on the sun itself would be huge. its making my solar system much easier now that I know how to use shaders thanks to you
Amazing video !!! I was thinking of making an Eve Offline game (aka single player version of Eve Online). Can u make a video for adding a space ship also ? I would like to do the same and then use lasers to destroy incoming ships and mine asteroids for resources to upgrade my ship :) I wonder if all this can be done easier in godot 4 than UE5.
I have a ship controller lying around for a potential tutorial tbh, hopefully get around to it soon. EVE online is sick, I spent way to much time on it LOL.
hey! :) I would love to work on something like an EVE Offline game, perhaps we can work together?
Do you have discord?
Hey man, love the videos, i have a request if you're able think its a good idea or if you havent already done it and i cant find it. Godot Using Composition. Such as Health Components, hitbox components, how to modularly build out characters, mobs, destructible ect from the ground up. I find alot of the other tutorials are distinctly lacking or aren't build from the ground up, and your tutorials let me understand every part of what and why you're doing it.
Yeah like have a component system with the extra functionality added on with adding nodes? That's a pretty cool idea, I've been thinking about it more recently. Are there any projects out there that use this concept really well you think, I'd love to look at how someone else has done this.
@@legiongames2400 I've built out a simplistic component system myself its modular and does work, but based on my limited knowledge with godot since im pretty new (been doing it for like 2 weeks), i don't think i've unlocked the full potential of that structure. A video kind of highlighting its usages (albeit only in 2d) ill link: th-cam.com/video/74y6zWZfQKk/w-d-xo.html I think the system itself is really forward thinking and will help new godot converts such as myself learn pretty decent practices, however i think of this video as just a brief summary on implementation rather than a full tutorial of what its usages could be
Such a shame glow doesn't work in Compatibility mode. :(
Star casting shadow 🤔
Don't think too hard about it :D
Can you create a space game? This space level is awesome nice 👍👍
Thank you! :) Yeah, hopefully I get around to making a full space game soon
add script make directional light just always look at active camera
everyone wants money
